When she told me that she intended to begin playing again, I promised to compose her a cycle for her new beginning: 34 miniatures, some of them with a direct connection to her paintings and sculptures. The main part of Kosmos was composed in 2014, 400 years after Albrecht Dürer created his copperplate engraving ‘Melencolia I’, in which a magic square appears. In a magicsquare, numbers are arranged in a grid so that their sum in each column, row, and the two diagonals is the same number. In the square I have chosen, the magic number is 34. Cole Porters only attempt at a 'serious? composition came with the ballet score Within the Quota, when Darius Milhaud suggested Porter as a composer to pair with his La Création du monde. Both pieces were rapturously received by the Parisian press at the October 1923 premiere at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées. Cole Porter later believed the score to be lost. In 1970 the score was discovered at Yale, from which William Bolcom and Richard Rodney Bennett created this two-piano version. The ballet is about an immigrant to New York who encounters a seductive heiress, a tap-dancer, a flapper, a cowboy, and a movie star beauty. Two copies needed for performance. / 2 Pianos

In January 1964 Bernd Alois Zimmermann interrupted the completion of his opera Die Soldaten [The Soldiers] in order to rearrange his orchestral work Dialoge for two pianos. Monologe resulting therefrom takes up the original material but develops it towards a different direction: Zimmermann‘s collage technique based on quotations extends over the entire musical setting so that it is not only Mozart (Piano Concerto in C major KV 467) who has his say but Beethoven, Messiaen and Bach as well. I rememberthe wonderful feeling I had when I started to learn from the first two Blues piano books I bought from a music shop along the Charing Cross Road in London, I still have both books “Just Blues” a compilation of Blues, Jazz and Boogie-Woogie songs and “How To Play Blues Piano” by Junior Mance. I have again created 100 Blues riffs with many of them having elements of Rock, Funk, Country, Jazz, Boogie-Woogie, Gospel and Latin styles. The riffs are in the order that I composed them, giving you the learner an element of surprise as to what the next riff is going to sound like. Each of the 100 riffs have been recorded twice, the 1st. time, the piano part with a rhythm backing track and the 2nd. time a rhythm backing track to practice playing along with. I have also created a separate play-a-long track that consists of 10 choruses of the 12 Bar Blues progression.
