The Concerto for piano and wind instruments, created in the last stage of the life of Antonio Ruiz-Pipó (1934-1997), certainly is one of his most outstanding compositions. Expressive, yet at the same time characterized by great precision and economy of means, the work is written in the tradition of Manuel de Falla. Pianist and ensemble, especially the woodwind players, are equally faced with technical challenges. The present version with the accompaniment of the soloist by a second piano is suitable for duo recitals and makes it possible for musicians to get to know this remarkable piece which was performed by the composer himself as a soloist at the world premiere in 1989. / 2 Pianos
