called to one hopewhen
you were called-- one

Ephesians4:4-6There are
those who claim that many
paths exist that lead to
whomeverwe believe or
define God to be.
However, we do not define
God - Hedefines us. And
there is only ONE path to
the Father and it
isclearly marked by a
bloodstained cross and an
empty tomb.Those who
claim the Master are
reborn into a bloodline
that does nottrace its
origin to a culture - but
to a cross. . .does not
dependupon what we bring
- but upon what He freely
gives . . .not based
intrying to know about
God - but actually
knowing God.“Yes - we
know that there is only
one God, the Father, who

live for Him. And there
is only one Lord,
JesusChrist, through whom
God made everything and
through whom we havebeen
given life.” 1

Julian of Norwich
(1342-1416). Burrow
s's setting of words of
assurance from the
English mystic Julian of
Norwich (1342-1416) is as
relevant today as ever.
For the advanced mixed
ensemble, the powerful
lyrics coupled with
gorgeous harmonies make
this an optimistic song
of hope appropriate
throughout the
year. All shall be
well, And all shall be
well, And all manner of
thing shall be well.
These words of assurance
from the English mystic
Julian of Norwich
(1342-1416) are as
relevant today as ever.
During her life, Julian
saw her community
devastated by the Great
Plague as well as deep
civil unrest. Yet through
all the turmoil came a
vision of hope that has
given the world this
profound text. One of the
most striking features is
how this short text
incorporates so much
repetition. It's as if
the writer knew she must
be gently persistent in
order for her optimistic
message to truly sink in.
The opening section tries
to capture musically some
of that persistent
optimism. Then there is a
departure from this
optimistic tone (measure
26) The feel becomes more
desperate, building to an
anguished cry (measure
38), acknowledging the
reality that, while all
shall be well, things are
very much NOT well right
now. Eventually the
anguish subsides (measure
52) as the music turns
back hopeward with the
calm assurance, again and
again, that all shall be
well. All shall be
well,And all shall be
well,And all manner of
thing shall be well.These

Hungarian Folk. In
2014, Chanticleer
commissioned me to make a
new arrangement of the
Hungarian-Romani folk
song Jarba, Mare Jarba
for their 2014 touring
program. Passed down
orally through the Romani
communities, this
beautiful folk song, with
text in a language called
Beas (beh-osh), speaks of
a deep longing to visit
one's homeland, a place
where the singer can
never return. Chanticleer
consists of twelve men
whose vocal ranges span
from low bass to high
soprano, equivalent to
the range of a mixed
choir of women and men. I
composed slow sections of
original material to
represent the singers'
longing to return home;
these are interspersed
with the folk song's
traditional fast
sections. The
incorporated shouts and
calls in the score are
typically found in the
performance of Central
European folk songs. I
hope you enjoy singing
this new version of
Jarba, Mare Jarba that
contains all of the vigor
and excitement of the
Chanticleer version.
PERFORMANCE NOTES All
spoken sounds (indicated
by x noteheads) should be
performed by individuals.
Feel free to elaborate
with more sounds of your
own in the tradition of
Eastern European folk
music. If the piece is
memorized, feel free to
experiment with clapping
on the off-beats of m. 93

cantata is a setting of
Ecclesiasticus 50, verses
24-26. This composition
is one of the most richly
scored vocal compositions
of Buxtehude. A
ritornello, which
includes a fanfare of
trumpets, and a longer
vocal section based on
Nun danket alle Gott
create the work's
structure. In Nun danket
alle Gott Buxtehude
indicated in detail, in
at least one instance,
the use of an a cappella
entrance of the choir. If
the sections without
instrumental
accompaniment are sung by
soloists, the choir is
added in the tutti
passages. Score and part

composer M. Roger Holland
has taken antiphons from
the 2010 Roman Missal and
paired them with psalm
verses, creating
compositions that have
wide use in the liturgy.
Some parishes will want
to use these pieces on
the appointed day for
entrance or communion
processionals. Others may
find use for them
throughout the entire
year, perhaps using them
as a weekly song through
the season. The songs
work well as stand-alone
processional pieces and
many choirs will want to
use them as choir anthems
or congregational songs
during the preparation of
the gifts and altar.
While utilizing official
texts of the Roman rite,
they can be used by
congregations of any
denomination. Roger
explores the wide breadth
that is African American
music, you’ll find
lyric ballades,
spiritualinspired
offerings, gospel-style
songs, and pieces with a
more uptempo feel. This
is the third volume in
this series. Contains:

Revelation 21:4 -
5 (ESV)
He will wipe away
ev'ry tear from their
eyes, and death shall be
no more, neither shall
there be mourning nor
crying nor pain anymore,
for the former things
have passed
away. And
He who was seated on the
throne said, 'Behold, I
am making all things
new.'
Alleluia,
alleluia,

his Christmas cantata
Allein Gott in der Hoh

Telemann celebrates the
