English. Carefully
placed staccatos and
well-chosen chord
inversions illuminate the
gospel style of this
original anthem of hope.
It's a perfect pep talk
or pick-me-up theme song
for whenever your program
needs a lift. A solo
voice becomes a duet
before all the singers
join in and grow with
intensity. Several
ascending key changes
raise spirits, ensuring
that the uplifting
message resonates.
Everything will be
alright, everything will
be okay, 'cause I can see
a new horizon on a brand
new day. If you don't
perform with the kickin'
SoundTrax accompaniment,
be sure to add a groovin'
drummer and riffing organ
of your own. We dare you
(and your audience) not
to clap along!

Hungarian Folk. In
2014, Chanticleer
commissioned me to make a
new arrangement of the
Hungarian-Romani folk
song Jarba, Mare Jarba
for their 2014 touring
program. Passed down
orally through the Romani
communities, this
beautiful folk song, with
text in a language called
Beas (beh-osh), speaks of
a deep longing to visit
one's homeland, a place
where the singer can
never return. Chanticleer
consists of twelve men
whose vocal ranges span
from low bass to high
soprano, equivalent to
the range of a mixed
choir of women and men. I
composed slow sections of
original material to
represent the singers'
longing to return home;
these are interspersed
with the folk song's
traditional fast
sections. The
incorporated shouts and
calls in the score are
typically found in the
performance of Central
European folk songs. I
hope you enjoy singing
this new version of
Jarba, Mare Jarba that
contains all of the vigor
and excitement of the
Chanticleer version.
PERFORMANCE NOTES All
spoken sounds (indicated
by x noteheads) should be
performed by individuals.
Feel free to elaborate
with more sounds of your
own in the tradition of
Eastern European folk
music. If the piece is
memorized, feel free to
experiment with clapping
on the off-beats of m. 93
to the end. TEXT

English. This
thrilling concert/contest
work boasts an array of
musical moods and artful
contrasts. A striking
minor theme opens the
piece, enhanced by
percussive handclaps and
punctuated by emphatic
cadences from the piano.
In the middle, a lyrical
major-key melody surfaces
along with beautifully
sustained legato choral
phrases. A joyful
recapitulation ends this
tour de force even
stronger than it
began.

English. We will
reach out, sing out, make

the world what love can
do! These empowering
lyrics were inspired by
thoughts and feelings
from amazing young people
at a virtual conference
held in 2020. Spread the
important message with
this stirring anthem of
hope by stellar composer
and youth mentor, Mark
Burrows. Starts with a
tiny mezzo-soprano seed
and blossoms into a full
bloom fortissimo. Along
the way, intuitive pop
rhythms, satisfying
harmonies, an especially
memorable bridge, a
moment of a cappella, and
even handclaps help to
secure that full finale
effect.
