Fasch's Mass in 16 parts
is remarkable for more
than its unusual scoring.
Inspired by the Italian
church music style of
Orazio Benevoli, it was
composed in 1783 for the
Berliner Sing-Akademie,
and revised by Fasch
several times throughout
his life in order to
adapt the score to the
vocal capabilities of his
ensemble. The composer
destroyed all earlier
compositions, which
probably contributed to
the legendary fame which
this mass has enjoyed
since the 19th century.
The mass was, however,
only published in 1839 -
around four decades after
Fasch's death. The
present edition is based
on the version contained
in the first printed
edition. In addition to
modern music notation,
extensive performance
materials (two choral
scores, separate organ
part) facilitate the
rehearsal of this
challenging work. Score

cheerful set of
Eucharistic Acclamations,
based on the Christmas
melody Resonet in
laudibus, was
written for assembly,
SATB, and organ with
optional brass quartet.
It is clear that Matthew
Koraus knows what works
for an assembly. The
Holy, Holy and the Amen
involve the congregation
in a call-and-response
fashion, which, combined
with the use of a
familiar melody, makes it
very easy for them to
participate. Each of the
three memorial
acclamations are
included, as are two
versions of the Amen, one
simple and one more
involved. For Christmas
through the Baptism of
the Lord; also
appropriate for Advent in
a pared down
presentation.

pastoral Daphnis et Egl
was performed only once,
on 29 October 1753, for
the entertainment of King
Louis XV at Fontainebleau
and remained unpublished
until today.
This
edition is based on
Rameau's autograph
manuscript, a copy of the
separate parts, and the
libretto published by
Ballard in 1753. A
comparison of the sources
reveals two versions of
the work: the original
version and the one
revised for
Fontainebleau, whereby
the differences lie
mainly in the final
divertissement. This
edition recommends the
Fontainebleau
version—which is
actually more complete in
its musical form, in
particular with its
overture and two
ariettas—but also
reconstructs the original
state of the final
divertissement (presented
