Spiritual. With an
opening figure that
invokes train wheels
rolling along a track,
this arrangement of the
well-known spiritual is
as much fun to ring as it
is to hear. The melody
passes between all ranges
of the bells, giving
everyone a chance to
shine. Varied techniques
add an element of
interest, and both the
key change and the
occasional accidental
give ringers a chance to
practice bell changes. A
fun number all
around!

choir. Level 3-. Anna
Laura Page's gentle and
lush setting of this
beloved hymn by William
M. Runyan is sure to
become a favorite of both
your ringers and your
congregation. The first
verse sets the tune with
flowing accompaniment
before a key change
passes the melody to the
upper bass and lower
treble bells. A return to
the original key leads to
a grand and glorious
conclusion. An all-around
solid choice for worship
or concert use.

Popul
ar Christmas Spiritual
Starting with an
ethereal opening, the
tune appears first in
fragments supported by
singing bells and bass
choir chimes until
finally moving forward in
a driving presentation of
this Christmas spiritual.
The addition of synth
strings and percussion
expands and enhances the
overall effect. An
abundance of text
painting and pleasing
transitions around every
corner make this an
inspired and surprising
choice for Christmas
worship and concerts
alike. Included parts:
Conductor's Score, Synth,
Percussion (Wind Chimes,
Suspended Cymbals, Hand
Drum, Triangle, Ratchet,
Maracas, Tambourine).

Hymn tune
The text Let all the
earth around ring joyous
with the sound is
reflected in this joyful
piece from Barbara
Kinyon. The martellato
sections sound as if the
bells are trumpeting
praises to God. Two key
changes add interest,
color, and movement
toward a brilliant
finale.

Commi
ssioned by a church in
Texas for its 125th
anniversary, this
arrangement of the
American folk hymn tune
has been set for 3, 4 or
5 octaves of bells. After
a short introduction the
melody enters in the bass
bells with the mid-range
bells on chords and the
upper bells dancing
around with
ornamentation. A little
later the registers trade
textures. A quicker
section involves the use
of mallets on tabled
bells in the lower voices
and the upper bells on
the melody in octaves. A
broad section finishes
the work.
