Composed by
Francis Poulenc. Arranged
by Ralph Sauer. 20th
Century French. Solo part
and piano score.

The Bestiary or
The Procession of Orpheus
was written by Poulenc in
1919. Mr. Sauer's
adaptation of six short
movements of about 5
minutes in length,
originally for voice are
poems from 1911 by
Guillaume Apollinaire
about animals: Camel,
Goat, Grasshopper,
Dolphin, Crayfish and
Carp.
This music is
very suitable for young
performers at the
intermediate level and is
a great way to introduce
them to a major 20th
century composer who's
only other music for
brass is the famous
Trio.
