XVI potrebbe sembrare di portata limitata se commisurato al numero di brani pervenutici, infatti è noto come non vi fosse l’esigenza di fissare su stampa composizioni per due liuti. I duetti italiani pervenutici ci consentono comunque di delineare con sufficiente chiarezza le linee di svolgimento di una pratica esecutiva che ha accompagnato la storia dello strumento per tutto il secolo XVI e anche successivamente. L’invenzione compositiva di questi brani, trascritti in notazione per chitarra da Paolo Cherici, si presenta musicalmente ispirata conseguendo un risultato artisticamente tra i più significatividell’intera produzione strumentale cinquecentesca./ Recueil / Luth
