The 10 easy
pieces adapted from piano
pieces from the famous
collection For Children
offer an ideal approach
to modern music. Numerous
school orchestras have
played this music with
fun and success. Because
the individual parts are
technically easy, one may
concentrate at once on
interpretational
subtleties (rubato,
articulation, tonal
nuances etc.).

Bach's
harpsichord concerti,
extremely popular among
pianists, are presumably
reworkings of pieces
originally written for
the violin. Bach,
however, succeeded in
transferring the diverse
idiosyncrasies of violin
technique to the keyboard
with such ingenuity that
most of today's pianists
also include these
concerti in their
standard repertoire. The
first concerto in D minor
is perhaps the most
popular - not least
because of its jaunty
outer movements and the
eminently forceful solo
part. Now, as a prelude
to a series of all of
Bach's harpsichord
concerti, G. Henle
Publishers presents a
piano reduction and study
edition (score) of the
D-minor concerto. None
other than András
Schiff, the outstanding
Bach expert, has provided
fingering
suggestions.

The
material of this volume
consists of the dances
most popular in Vienna at
he beginning of the 19th
century: landler,
ecossaises and German
dances. They were
originally piano pieces,
but were certainly
performed on all sorts of
instruments at social
gatherings and in public
places of entertainment.
This transcription for
children's orchestra of
these miniature
compositions is a modern
continuation of the old
tradition of their
'transcription'.

scholarly edition of one
of the composer's major

for the philological
editing of music in
general. … JSW has
chosen to have the
emendations reflected in
two places, in certain
cases even in three: as
graphic indications in
the music text, in prose
form in the critical
commentary, and sometimes
also in the form of a
warning footnote on the
music page. There can be
no doubt that such a
procedure is very
user-friendly, but it
disturbs the appearance

mislead the user into
thinking that there are
two or more equally valid
readings. Niels Krabbe,
