My
lecture of the
Winterreise does not
demand a new expressive
interpretation, but
instead systematically
exercises the freedom
which all interpreters
allow themselves
intuitively, such as:
instrumental dilation i.
e. acceleration of the
pace, transposition into
other keys and
elaboration of
characteristic color
timbres. In addition,
there are further ways of
reading; the music;
jumping around in the
text, repeating certain
lines, interrupting the
continuity, comparing
different expressions of
the same phrase ... All
these new possibilities
are subjected to my
compositional discipline
and form autonomous
formal processes which
are imposed on Schuberts
original. The
transformation of the
piano tones into a
multifaceted orchestra
full of resonance is only
one of many aspects.(Hans

Um
die Jahreswende 1872/73
machte sich Peter I.
Tschaikowsky an die
Komposition eines Zyklus
von '6 Romanzen' fur
Gesang und Klavier opus
16, startete dabei mit
dem einem Wiegenlied nach
einem Text aus den
'Modernen griechischen
Liedern' von Apollon
Nikolajewitsch Maikow.
Uber die Entstehung des
ouvres ist nichts
uberliefert; der
russische Musiker war
nach Moskau ubersiedelt,
unterrichtete am
Konservatorium, hatte
aber als Komponist noch
keinen durchschlagenden
Erfolg. Mit der Gattung
des Liedes beschaftigte
er sich Zeit seines
Lebens, wagte sich
bereits nach 1856, in
seiner Studienzeit, an
erste Lieder und Romanzen
und legte in seinem
Todesjahr 1893 einen
letzten Zyklus vor. Das
hier vorgelegte
'Wiegenlied' eroffnet den
fruhen Romanzen-Zyklus
opus 6. Tschaikowsky
widmete es Nadeshda
Nikolajewna
Rimskaja-Korsakowa, der
Frau des
Komponistenkollegen. Es
ist ein zugleich
schlichter wie
ausdrucksstarker Gesang
in balladenhaftem
Erzahlton.

Fragmente -
nicht ,,Lieder im
ublichen Sinn. Fragmente,
zugleich ,,Labyrinthe,
existenziell wie
asthetisch:
Doppelbodigkeit von Musik
und Sprache. Texte des
mittleren Holderlin, als
diesem die Welt aufbrach,
als er in ihren Rissen
und Trummern
herumtastete, die
verschiedenen Zeiten und
Raume durcheinander
bringend, aufeinander
beziehend (so besonders
exponiert in dem ersten
Fragment ,,Tende
Stromfeld, das Holderlin
auf die Ruckseite einer
Wascherechnung notierte).
- Ein auslosender Moment
der Komposition war die
Vorstellung des
Holderlinschen Gesangs,
wie ihn Wilhelm
Waiblinger beschrieb: Hat
er eine Zeitlang (auf dem
Klavier) gespielt und ist
seine Seele ganz weich
geworden, so fallt
plotzlich sein Auge zu,
sein Haupt richtet sich
empor, er scheint
vergehen zu wollen, und
er beginnt zu singen. In
welcher Sprache, das
konnte ich nie erfahren,
so oft ich es auch horte;
aber er tat es mit
uberschwanglichem Pathos,
und es schauderte einem
in allen Nerven, ihn so
zu sehen und zu horen.
Schwermut und Trauer
waren der Geist seines
Gesanges.Formal sind die
Fragmente zum Teil
reduzierbar auf die
musikalischen Prinzipien
Fantasia, Canto,
Ornamento, Rondo,
Recitativo. Inhaltlich
ist der Zyklus eine Art
Irrfahrt durch die
Labyrinthe der Aussen-
zur Innen-Welt, uber die
verschiedenen Situationen
von Traum, Lust,
Sehnsucht, Trotz, Trauer,
Verzweiflung bis zur
Resignation, schon
jenseits der
Verzweiflung. Mit
gewissem Vorbehalt: eine
andere

Diese
Sammlung der schonsten
Volkslieder aus acht
Jahrhunderten vermittelt
ein eindrucksvolles Bild
von der Vielfalt des
Volksliedes im
deutschsprachigen Raum.
Der aufwandig
ausgestattete Band ist
nicht nur ein Fest fur
die Augen, sondern ladt
alle zum frohlichen
Singen ein, die Freude am
Volkslied haben. Alle
Liedsatze enthalten die
Melodie in der Oberstimme
und sind so eingerichtet,
dass sie auch mit
Sopranblockflote spielbar
sind. Harmoniesymbole
ermoglichen eine
Begleitung durch Gitarre
und Akkordeon. Die
Klavierbegleitung ist gut
spielbar und geeignet,
Sanger zu begleiten.
Chorleiter konnen dem
Satz leicht noch eine
zweite (Begleit-)Stimme
entnehmen. Mit
zahlreichen
Farbfotos.
