Con te
partirò, which
also became famous under
the title Time to Say
Goodbye, has burned
itself into the
collective musical
consciousness above all
in the interpretation by
the blind Italian tenor,
Andrea Bocelli. In the
1990s this song raced up
the singles charts and
has since become almost
indispensable at farewell
celebrations, especially
in the world of sports.
Thanks to Anthony
Grögersâ?? expressive
arrangement, string
quartets now have the
opportunity to let this
wonderful song ring out
on suitable occasions,
guaranteed to awaken the

The
editor, Engelbert
Rontgen, writes in his
foreword:Following a
commission by the
gentlemen Breitkopf &
Hartel in Leipzig to
produce a complete
edition of Beethoven's
string quartets supplied
with bowing marks and
fingerings, I undertook
this task on the basis of
the critical complete
edition of these
quartets, published in
1862. First of all, it
seemed necessary to
change the original
slurring in some places
to suit the bowing
technique, with regard to
performing and
expression.In the
quartets from Beethoven's
early period, the
performing marks often
lack the accuracy and
completeness that is
required for an exact
interplay, whereas they
are given in the quartets
of his later period
almost everywhere with
the greatest detail and
precision, . Furthermore,
the before mentioned
scores contain a number
of mistakes, which in all
likelihood may have crept
into the manuscripts as
writing mistakes.I have
therefore endeavored to
carefully add the missing
performing marks, as well
as to correct the
incorrect notes, without,
however, claiming to have
done everything that is
questionable.Breitkopf
Originals invite you to
take a fresh look at
19th-century reception
history.The music is
printed clearly and in a
larger than usual
size.(Rebekah Smith,

In
the entire history of pop
and rock, no band has so
dominated the music scene
as original brit-poppers
the Beatles did in the
1960s. For this medley
for string quartet, four
songs were selected that
show the musical range of
the Fab Four: from the
powerful Help!
through the romantic
evergreen
Yesterday and the
rock classic A Hard
Dayâ??s Night to the
passionate anthem All
You Need Is Love.
In de Pop and
Rock geschiedenis heeft
geen enkele ander band de
muziekscene zo
gedomineerd als The
Beatles tijdens de jaren
zestig. In deze medley
voor strijkkwartet zijn
vier songs geselecteerd
die de muzikale
verscheidenheid van de
Fab Four goed
weerspiegelen: van het
krachtige Help!
via de romantische
evergreen
Yesterday en de
rockklassieker A Hard
Dayâ??s Night tot
het hartstochtelijke
All You Need Is
Love.

Fall war. Für dieses
Medley für
Streichquartett wurden
vier Stücke
ausgewählt, welche die
musikalische Bandbreite
der Fab Fourâ??

zeigen: vom
mitreiÃ?enden
Help! über den
klassischen Evergreen
Yesterday und den
Rock-Klassiker A Hard

leidenschaftlichen Hymne

When
AntonÃn Dvorák
started composing his
String Quartet No. 10 in
late 1878, none of his
quartets had yet been
performed. However this
new work, deliberately
cast in the
“Slavonicâ€
style, quickly achieved
international renown and
has remained among one of
the most popular string
quartets by
Dvorák.
The
authoritative Dvorák
scholar Hartmut Schick
has consulted all
accessible sources, most
notably the printed score
published by Simrock and
the autograph. Now, after
many decades, a
definitive Urtext edition
of this major work can be
presented. In comparison
to the old Supraphon
edition of 1955, the new
publication includes a
detailed Critical
Commentary (Eng) as well
as edited early versions
of the middle movements
in the appendix. A
detailed Foreword
(Ger/Cz/Eng) by the
editor is also
contained.
