A new and
exciting way for cello
players to learn and
practice basic jazz
style. This book
features 15 solo etudes
based on blues and
standard chord
progressions,
demonstrated by Erik
Friedlander on cello
along with a world-class
rhythm section: Mike
LeDonne, piano; Peter
Washington, bass; and
Kenny Washington,
drums. The recording
features two separate
versions of each etude:
one with the soloist and
rhythm section and one
with the rhythm section
only. See and hear how
the soloist phrases, play
with or without the
soloist and learn basic
jazz style
first-hand.

Stringtast
ic Book 2: Cello teaches
through playing in an
engaging exploration of
musical styles. Part of
the fully integrated
Stringtastic series in
which violin, viola,
cello, and double bass
can all learn and play
together in any
combination.
Learn as you play
through the world of
Stringtastic, with 62
imaginative pieces that
have been specifically
designed to establish a
secure playing technique
and build confidence one
step at a time. Following
on from Stringtastic Book
1, this book takes the
student from Grade 1
(Early Elementary) to
Grade 2 (Elementary)
level. Featuring
equal-level duets for all
instruments, the pieces
are ideal for individual
and group tuition as well
as flexible ensemble and
classroom settings.
Every piece is
supported by an exciting
backing track plus a
piano-only track for
practice---all available
to download. The
Stringtastic Book 2:
Teacher's Accompaniment
book provides the
complete piano score
which works with any
combination of the
instrumental parts.
Mark Wilson and
Paul Wood have developed
an engaging and
accessible new series of
string-playing method
books⦠The
presentation will appeal
to young learners, and
the careful,
well-conceived pedagogy
will thrill their
teachers! Furthermore,
the Stringtastic
integrated approach gives
proper deference to the
social aspect of
music-making by allowing
violinists, violists,
cellists, and bassists to
play together from the
start. I look forward to
sharing this method with
my young students and
colleagues in early music
education.

Mark Elliot Bergman,

Orchestral Studies,

About Suzuki
Method
The
Suzuki Method is based on
the principle that all
children possess ability
and that this ability can
be developed and enhanced
through a nurturing
environment. All children
learn to speak their own
language with relative
ease and if the same
natural learning process
is applied in teaching
other skills, these can
be acquired as
successfully. Suzuki
referred to the process
as the Mother Tongue
Method and to the whole
system of pedagogy as
Talent Education. The
important elements of the
Suzuki approach to
instrumental teaching
include the following:an
early start (aged 3-4 is
normal in most
countries); the
importance of listening
to music; learning to
play before learning to
read; -the involvement of
the parent; a nurturing
and positive learning
environment; a high
standard of teaching by
trained teachers; the
importance of producing a
good sound in a balanced
and natural way; core
repertoire, used by
Suzuki students across
the world; social
interaction with other
children. Suzuki students
from all over the world
can communicate through
the language of

The
sound of the cello in
this piece should be
foggy like voice of Ella
Fitzgerald. Sweet, smooth
and pleasant, but at the
same time slightly
hoarse, rustle, dirty.
There are almost only
natural harmonics; either
single, or in chords
(triple-stops) including
two natural harmonics, or
double-stops of two
harmonics. All should be
played flautando, sul
tasto and molto lasciar
vibrare. Flautando and
sul tasto should serve in
search for the foggy
color - harmonics should
speak less clear than
normally, but more smooth
and decent.(Martin
Smolka) ,Like Ella' would
be suited to a player of
a high standard as many
harmonics are in higher
positions and played as
triple-stops. I would
recommend ,Like Ella' to
an advanced cellist
seeking to learn a piece
of modern music to add to
their concert
repertoire.(Mitchell
Smith, AUSTA
Stringendo)

Due
to the success of our
Instrumental Fingering
Posters, we thought it
would be helpful to
create a smaller version
that could be tucked
comfortably into any
method book as a
reference guide.
Unbeknownst to us after
days of research, we were
left with countless
questions, much
confusion, and a slew of
poorly crafted images
from contradicting
publications. That being
said, we realized that
there weren't truly any
trustworthy resources in
print and decided to
address the void. We
consulted experts in
every category asking
questions until both we
and they and we were
satisfied. Finally, a
guide to fingering for
beginners that even the
experienced players will
find beneficial.
Santorella's Basic
Fingering Charts are
essential for anyone that
picks up an instrument.
Initially intended for
beginners but after
understanding the
importance of false
fingerings or more
appropriately called,
alternate fingerings
their necessity is vital
for playing certain
musical passages on a
particular instrument. In
addition, after observing
the difficulties that
students had in
identifying key
signatures, we decided to
include the Circle of
Fifths diagram and every
major scale in two
octaves in every key
including their
enharmonic counterparts.
After all was said in
done, we now know, we now
have the best educational
products available for
fingering in the
industry. Our Basic
Fingering Charts are
perfect for private
students, classroom
study, or simply for a
quick and easy reference
guide while practicing at
home. These graphic
reference guides for
assorted brass, reeds,
woodwinds, and orchestral
strings are specifically
available for Clarinet,
Bass Clarinet, Trumpet,
Flute, Piccolo, Recorder,
Baritone Horn, Trombone,
Bass Trombone, Alto Sax,
Soprano Sax, Tenor Sax,
Baritone Sax, French
Horn, Euphonium, Tuba,
Oboe, Bassoon, Violin,
Viola, Cello, and Bass.
Every chart displays the
entire range of each
instrument by clearly
depicting the fingering
for each note including
all their enharmonic
substitutions. Each chart
includes a diagram
identifying the levers,
valves, keys, slides,
frets and more of each
and every instrument.
Learn where, when, and
why to place your
fingers. Now is the time
to truly start playing
with assured
confidence.
