pour piano. Par LENS NICHOLAS. The Belgian composer Nicholas Lens presents extremely varied etudes, exercises and simple phrases with wonderfully telling titles from poetry and everyday world for children and adults. For the most part the studies are tonal and simple and have no constructed line. They are not based on any educational concept but leave the musical dramatization to the pupils and teachers: 'Notes and rhythms are just notes and rhythms, they do not have that many rules, they do not have any pretension, they are just tools for you to use to express what you want to share'. / Date parution : 2016-11-20/ Etude / Piano

Nighthawks - Harpe Jobert
Daniel Blackstone L'Education Musicale n°128 (janv-fév 2020)

| Hair : The Musical - Easy
Piano Piano Facile - Facile Amsco Wise Publications
Thirteen of the most famous and popular songs from one of the most unique stage ...(+)
Thirteen of the most famous and popular songs from one of the most unique stage musicals ever produced are arranged here for Easy Piano. If you're just starting out on the Piano, but you still want to learn these great songs, this book is for you. Rejecting all tropes and traditions of Broadway musicals, Hair, which premiered in 1967, offered both an antidote and something new, surprising and shocking.Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical took the counter-culture of the late 1960s and transformed it into the musical medium, featuring profanity, nudity, drug use and songs that would become anti-Vietnam War protest tunes. The musical was never just a product of its time though, as its enduring appeal has proven. Thirteen of its most popular songs, many of which remain well-loved today, are included in this songbook arranged for Easy Piano. The simplified arrangements feature some guidance on fingering, as well as full lyrics and chord symbols.Songs like the show-opener Aquarius, with its inspiring message, and Ain't Got No, with its rejection of materialism, are included here, their fun lyrics and fantastic music making them sure-fire hits with any audience. Other popular songs like I Got Life, Where Do I Go?, Let The Sunshine In and Good Morning Starshine tell the story not just of the characters in the musical, but of universal themes of life that are common to us all. The 'Tribe' that are featured in the story are a group of counter-culture hippies whose story invoked laughter and sadness along with an empathy that has ensured the show's success even today.Featuring fantastic lyrics and story by James Rado and Gerome Ragni, as well as music by Galt MacDermot, each song in this Hair sheet music songbook is a joy to perform. You will love learning each note of the inspiring and uplifting tunes as well as every word of the touching and memorable lyrics. The success of the once-controversial musical is revealed by its numerous revivals, spanning almost half a century. Songs like Donna, I'm Black and Hair are as relevant now as they were then, making this songbook unique among other musicals for having songs that are both brilliant musically as well as being a mirror into our own world. Featuring songs that truly have stood the test of time arranged for Easy Piano, soon you'll be playing these tunes of hope, optimism and love no matter what age or ability you are. Thirteen of the most famous and popular songs from one of the most unique stage musicals ever produced are arranged here for Piano, Vocal and Guitar. Thirteen of its most popular songs, many of which remain well-loved today, are included in this songbook arranged for Piano, Vocal and Guitar with full lyrics and chord symbols and boxes.Songs like the show-opener Aquarius, with its inspiring message, and Ain't Got No, with its rejection of materialism, are included here, their fun lyrics and fantastic music making them sure-fire hits with any audience. Par BAKER DUCK. This collection of carols arranged for guitar solo brings together twenty-four melodies that have had broad appeal through the ages. They were a spontaneous expression of musical joy that occurred over much of northern Europe in the fifteenth century, coinciding with the dawning of the modern age and the ending of the long medieval night. The selections include universal favorites, some tunes which are popular in their native lands and reasonably well-known elsewhere, and others which are unfamiliar even in their homelands. Some familiar texts, including 'Away in a Manger' and 'Angels from the Realms of Glory,' have been set to different tunes. Notes on the origin of each tune are included. Written in notation and tablature. The companion CD features performances of all of the tunes, with some grouped into medleys. / Niveau : Intermédiaire / Christmas - Solos / Tablatures / Guitare Tablatures

Mini Edition Instruments en Sib [Fake Book] Hal Leonard
The Real Books are the best-selling jazz books of all time. Since the 1970s, mus...(+)
The Real Books are the best-selling jazz books of all time. Since the 1970s, musicians have trusted these volumes to get them through every gig, night after night. The problem is that the books were illegally produced and distributed, without any regard to copyright law, or royalties paid to the composers who created these musical masterpieces. Hal Leonard is very proud to present the first legitimate and legal editions of these books ever produced. You won't even notice the difference, other than all the notorious errors being fixed: the covers and typeface look the same, the song list is nearly identical, and the price for our edition is even cheaper than the original! Every conscientious musician will appreciate that these books are now produced accurately and ethically, benefitting the songwriters that we owe for some of the greatest tunes of all time! This Bb mini edition includes 400 songs: Ac-cent-tchu-ate The Positive (from the Motion Picture HERE COME THE WAVES) After You After You've Gone (from ONE MO' TIME) Ain't Misbehavin' (from AIN'T MISBEHAVIN') Ain't That A Kick In The Head Aisha All My Tomorrows All Or Nothing At All All The Way (from THE JOKER IS WILD) Allanjuneally Alone Too Long (from BY THE BEAUTIFUL SEA) Along Came Betty Always And Forever Among My Souvenirs Amor (Amor, Amor, Amor) Antigua Aquellos Ojos Verdes (Green Eyes) Aren't You Glad You're You As Long As I Live At Long Last Love (from YOU NEVER KNOW) At Sundown Autumn In 3 Baia (Bahía) Ballad For Trane Bark For Barksdale Be Careful, It's My Heart (from HOLIDAY INN) Bein' Green Bernie's Tune Bésame Mucho (Kiss Me Much) The Best Thing For You (from the Stage Production CALL ME MADAM) The Best Things In Life Are Free (from GOOD NEWS!) As one of Hollywood's most memorable films, and perhaps the greatest screen adaptation of a novel ever, the 1939 Wizard Of Oz brought the words to music, entrenching the songs in popular culture and ensuring their timelessness. With this Piano, Vocal and Guitar book, you can learn every song from the hit movie. There were other film adaptations of L. Frank Baum's book before and after it, but the 1939 version, starring Judy Garland, remains the one where visual imagination and unforgettable songs gave us a definitive version. What 'Yip' Harburg and Harold Arlen created was a film bursting with unforgettable musical sequences, putting their talented songwriting brains together to produce this most famous of musicals. Obviously, a song like Over The Rainbow needs no introduction, winning an Academy Award for resonating with our desire for something better, and becoming especially prescient given the world war about to erupt. The rest of Harburg and Arlen's songs for the film are just as evocative, instantly conjuring Dorothy's legendary journey from Kansas to Oz and back. An absolute pleasure to perform, these songs belie their 75-year vintage and sound as fresh today as they did when audiences were first thrilled to hear them in the cinema. In this Wizard Of Oz sheet music song book, every song from the film is included, Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead, We're Off To See The Wizard, Follow The Yellow Brick Road, If I Only Had A Brain and If I Only Had A Heart, plus more.Arranged for Piano, Vocal and Guitar, each fantastic song includes vocal melody, Piano parts, Guitar chord boxes and symbols and full lyrics. It really is everything you need to learn the songs exactly as they were played and sung in the film version. You are guaranteed to enjoy performing the famous songs, and you'll love discovering the more unfamiliar ones if you don't already know them by heart! Because of the nature of these songs, they'll never go out of fashion, so you'll always have something great to perform. If you've ever wanted to learn Over The Rainbow note for note, or how exactly the ensemble sang We're Off To See The Wizard, look no further than this Wizard Of Oz sheet music song book, arranged for Piano, Vocal and Guitar. / Piano/Vocal/Guitare (PVG)

Par MIRANDA LIN-MANUEL. It was really fun to make an arrangement on these three great melodies from Encanto! Here, the band will be able to work with latin rhythms, syncopation (which doesn't rush) and with possible solo elements on the melody. Use your imagination and feel free to re-arrange to let your musicians shine. (Example: bar 27 and onwards can be performed as a duet) All three songs can be played separately. They have different degrees of difficulty and if the band lack the ability to perform the last melody, you can easily stop before that. 1. 'We don't talk about Bruno' (1-55) benefits greatly from having a Guiro saying 'go-ap tsh tsh'. This piece can be stopped by playing to the end of bar 54. If you want to play this piece only, you can easily extend it, by repeating from 27, perhaps with other soloists? 2. 'Surface Pressure' (55-116) If the cowbell-part is not played, percussionists have to play these two weak beats in 56. The groove for drum set is also very important from 68. Also, that you get a proper swing feeling on 84- 98 and that the drummer in 99 really goes back to even eighths. If you want to extend this piece, you may repeat from 84. If you want to end after this song, you can insert a ritardando 2 bars before 116 and preferably add a quarter note high G, then a quarter rest, and then a darker G. Another possibility is to repeat from 84 and then stop at the first note in 100. 3. 'The Family Madrigal' can of course also be played alone. This is truly a song that gets people clapping! I have chosen to make the opening rhythm a little easier by adding an eighth note to the one (120) If the ensemble has a very good understanding of rhythm, it can be skipped, but then the only tone in the phrase that is on the pulse beats will be the quarter note in the second measure. You can start the piece straight on bar 120 without the drum intro. If you want to extend this piece, you can repeat 152 – 199. (Or you can go all the way back to 136) If you do so, you can perhaps skip the first house at the end, if the audience is not standing on the chairs dancing Have fun performing this arrangement! The Movie Encanto is a 2021 American computer-animated musical fantasy comedy film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios. It follows a multigenerational Colombian family, the Madrigals, led by a matriarch (Botero) whose children and grandchildren—except for Mirabel Madrigal (Beatriz)—receive magical gifts from a miracle that helps them serve the people in their rural community called the Encanto. When Mirabel learns that the family is losing their magic, she sets out to find out what is happening, and save her family and their magical house. Encanto premiered at the El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles on November 3, 2021 The film received critical acclaim for its characterization, music, animation, voice acting, emotional depth, and cultural fidelity; reviews named magic realism and transgenerational trauma as the film's core concepts. Publications have described Encanto as a cultural phenomenon. The film was nominated for three awards at the 94th Academy Awards, winning Best Animated Feature, and received numerous other accolades. The film's soundtrack also became a success, reaching number one on the US Billboard 200 and UK Compilation Albums charts; 'We Don't Talk About Bruno' and 'Surface Pressure' were its two most successful songs, with the former topping both the US Billboard Hot 100 and UK Singles Chart for multiple weeks. Par MC NEFF STEPHEN. My research for Banished began with a small group of students during a Trinity Laban co-lab period in 2013, though the idea goes back over 30 years when I first saw Steve Gooch’s Female Transport and stored the idea of adapting it as an opera until the right opportunity arose. I have been involved in opera for a long time and it has always been a frustration for me that while there is an abundance of female talent (particularly so in conservatories and colleges) there is a noticeable lack of challenging roles available for young women. The roles most often undertaken are maids or innocent girls, compliant wives or tomboys. Not that the problem is necessarily confined exclusively to young women, but where good roles exist, the women are all too often merely passive or victims. Things happen to them rather than them making things happen. They are unable to influence their circumstances and are usually resigned to their fate. Worse still, they are often judged in some way responsible for what happens to them, culpable even because of their looks, their way of life or a streak of independence. Just think about Mimi, Carmen and Violetta (to name only three on a long list). All these characters die, and their attempts at individuality contribute to their demise in some way that they have no control over. With some exceptions female characters in opera are too often sad, mad or bad.
Redressing this balance and taking advantage of the richness in vocal talent is only one reason to write an opera reflecting the reality of a group of strong women who work things out for themselves. The transportation of people to Australia at the beginning of the nineteenth century is not a particularly well understood part of history beyond a sort of folk myth. What were the circumstances, who were the people and what happened to them? Opera does not exist to completely answer these questions, but it can focus on the women as individuals and help tell their story. (All the women named in the opera actually existed.)
My approach has to been to put the women’s narrative centre stage and, in the confines of an oppressive, dangerous environment go with them on their journey as they survive or sink. The demands on the women are huge. At every turn they are oppressed by their jailers, the system that brought them here and their own low expectations. They have to work out ways to overcome these odds. We discover them through their music in solos and ensembles, sometimes reflective, at other times boasting about their lives a petty criminals and trying to establish status and pecking order. Alongside this I have used references to music of the time to create another reality built on larger ensembles and choruses. This is a sort of collective consciousness aware of loss, longing and context – even of a broad political dimension to the realities of Transportation. Despite the acute awareness of their circumstances in these ensembles, there is also a resilience and strength that transcends the individual stories. Par COLERIDGE-TAYLOR SAMUEL. The period of composition (ca. 1893) for the Suite de Pièces for violin and piano or violin and organ was especially productive for Samuel Coleridge-Taylor (1875-1912) in the realm of chamber music. Unpublished works include a piano quintet, clarinet sonata, nonet, piano trio, and a piano sonata. It is notable that the different versions of the Suite for piano and organ are so contrasting. Typically, pieces in this genre that exist in versions for piano and organ have little that separate them in terms of musical content. However, Coleridge-Taylor not only approaches each keyboard instrument quite differently but conceived the violin part with notable melodic differences. This can be considered exceptional as they were both issued by the same publisher within a close timeframe. Coleridge-Taylor would have been very familiar with the organ from his early church experience as a boy in addition to studies at the Royal College of Music with Walter Alcock. His writing is consistently idiomatic for the instrument. The few registrational directions in the first edition, assuming they are by Coleridge-Taylor, demonstrate an understanding of the need to balance the organ part with the violin part so that the organ is not too loud. Rather than numbering the manuals I and II, with II being the quieter manual, the score indicates Swell and Choir but there is no requirement for the Great to be used. There are also extended sections where no manual indication is given at all. Whether the registration markings were made by Coleridge-Taylor or an editor at Schott is unclear but the indication for a Choir manual suggests not so much the need for an organ of three manuals but an instrument with a range of foundational colours for writing that is often accompanimental in nature. / Date parution : 2023-06-01/ Répertoire / Violon et Orgue

While some of the songs featured were originally performed on instruments such as flute, mandolin, or bagpipes, here they appear as guitar arrangements for the first time. To help guitarists pick up all the nuances of style, the book covers both fingerstyle and pick playing, and explores special techniques such as grace notes, hammer-ons, pull-offs, and tremolo. Noted jazz pianist, composer, recording artist and educator Andy LaVerne has drawn from his decades of experience playing with master musicians from Getz to Lovano to create this comprehensive compendium of contemporary moving voicings. Quartal, quintal, drop 2, dominant 7b9/diminished, triadic, whole tone and chromatic performance proven voicings pioneered by McCoy Tyner, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, and Andy himself are presented and fleshed out in all twelve keys. This book picks up where others leave off, enabling you to replace static chords with voicings that move melodically, dramatically, and gracefully over the entire range of the keyboard. Firmly rooted in contemporary jazz theory, the emphasis is on practical performance applications. Andy ties it all together with illustrations of comping choruses for five standard jazz tunes. Chords in Motion satisfies a long awaited need in actual comping situations, and shows you how to move chords through varying harmonic rhythms. FINALLY ' a book that gives you moving voicings, and sets them in motion in all twelve keys. Chords in Motion is a valuable resource for all keyboardists, arrangers, and instrumentalists. Activate, animate, and energize your comping with this encyclopedic volume. 156 pages, spiral bound for easy opening. Andy carries the flame of jazz piano tradition and just great music. He always inspires me. Chick Corea This is a great book! I am going to sit down and play through this!! I am always telling my non-piano playing students how important it is to work with (and internalize) the sounds that we live with all our lives as Jazz musicians. Coltrane spent years sitting at the piano and so should all of us!!! John Patitucci Berklee College of Music One thing about Andy'he is complete as can be and has been consistently so for years in both his teaching materials and playing. He is completely knowledgeable in such a way that when I play with him, I know he KNOWS!! Plus he is one of the smoothest and polished of players around. Great book'encyclopedic in content. Dave Liebman Founder, Artistic Director, International Association of Schools of Jazz (IASJ) I've played and recorded with Andy LaVerne many times over the years and in many different settings and he's always come up with the hippest, most interesting chords in the most musical way! His way of playing and looking at chords inspires me as a drummer and his rhythm section partner to play things that are in turn inspiring to the rest of the band. This book, helps musicians, understand, in a clear thoughtful presentation, how to go about getting this together. Billy Drummond Jazz Drummer, Educator, Juilliard, NYU Chords in Motion is an outstanding and comprehensive guide by Andy LaVerne, whose encyclopedic knowledge, decades of experience and brilliance as a performer and educator make this an invaluable handbook of modern jazz piano harmony. Its user-friendly, intelligent design enables musicians to expand their harmonic palette and potentially transform their playing, writing and arranging. Chords in Motion is an invaluable contribution to jazz musicians! Lynne Arriale Jazz Pianist, Composer, Educator, Associate Professor of Jazz Piano, Director of Small Ensembles, University of North Florida Chords in Motion is exactly the book I'd expect from Andy LaVerne. It's clear, openhearted and inspiring, as has been every conversation I've had with Andy over the years. Long a fan of his playing, I have enjoyed this look behind the curtain at how Andy LaVerne formulated his signature style. One other thing -- any pianist, no matter his/her approach, will gain insight into what will surely be new and exciting musical directions. Pete Malinverni Jazz Pianist, Educator, Director of Jazz Studies, SUNY Purchase College Conservatory of Music What a great resource for expanding the harmonic palette! Chords in Motion is a must have for the aspiring young jazz pianist as well as the seasoned veteran. Another winner from Andy! Paul Schmeling Jazz Pianist, Educator, Chair Emeritus, Piano Department, Berklee College of Music In Chords in Motion, I recognize chords and sounds that have inspired me to compose and play: harmony from the music of Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock and McCoy Tyner. This book is well organized, and from the beginning gets you playing. Each chord structure is explained and developed. There is plenty to practice. I especially like the exercises using contrary motion, arpeggiation and pivot, and the application to tunes. The reader will be tempted to stop on every page and compose. I found the Lost Chord, but won't tell you the page number. Bert Ligon Jazz Pianist/Guitarist, Composer, Arranger, Educator, Director of Jazz Studies, University of South Carolina Ever wonder how to move harmony around instead of repeating the same chord voicing over and over' Then Chords in Motion is a must have book for you! Andy has included a ton of information that will open up your comping and should keep you busy with new ideas for a long time! I highly recommend it! Dan Haerle Jazz Pianist, Composer, Author, Educator, Professor Emeritus, University of North Texas Chords in Motion is an essential guide to expanding one's conception of modern Jazz Piano Harmony. Andy LaVerne has managed to outline in a very practical and concise way, modern principles of piano chord voicings, as they pertain to the Jazz Pianist's primary group function of comping. David Hazeltine Jazz Pianist, Composer, Educator, SUNY Purchase College Conservatory of Music Chords in Motion should be fun to take into the practice room to explore new ways of sustaining harmonies over the entire register of the piano. It is encyclopedic and thorough in its content. No stone is left unturned! Stephany Tiernan Pianist, Composer, Educator, Chair, Piano Department, Berklee College Of Music Chords In Motion is an excellent practicing resource that provides a garden of harmonic sonorities for a musician to choose and explore at the piano. I like the way that Andy has made the information accessible to any level of student. I look forward to discovering some different sounds with this book. Phil DeGreg Jazz Pianist, Author, Educator, University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music I am delighted to recommend Andy LaVerne's Chords In Motion to aspiring jazz pianists! Andy is a superb pianist, very capable of addressing this topic. Prior to pianists like McCoy Tyner, Herbie Hancock, Bill Evans, and others, most pianists were content to have acquired a small handful of chord voicings, generally with the chord roots on the bottom of the voicings. Though 'rootless voicings' were adopted in later years, they were primarily for the left hand and generally only used the 3rd or 7th on the bottom. But now the serious jazz pianist needs to be able to move his or her voicings in a more diatonic manner, as shown in Andy's book. Jerry Coker Jazz Saxophonist, Author, Educator Andy LaVerne's Chords in Motion is a study of encyclopedic scope on the use of harmonies based on fourth intervals in the context of jazz harmony. There is a wealth of information in terms of voicings, voice leading and chord/scale relationships and their application to common harmonic formulae (ii-V, etc.) and the chord progressions used in blues and common standard tunes. Jazz musicians interested in this vocabulary should find this book to be a useful launching pad for exploring this important corner of the world of jazz harmony. Bill Dobbins Jazz Pianist, Composer, Arranger, Author, Educator, Professor of Jazz Studies, Conductor, Coordinator Jazz Composition and Arranging, Eastman School of Music Chords in Motion is a highly detailed, informative and filling-in-the-gap text. It's an important and welcome addition to the jazz piano literature, which can be applied to any level of proficiency. Stefan Karlsson Jazz Pianist, Educator, Professor/Jazz Studies Division, University of North Texas Fantastic pianist Andy LaVerne has put together an amazing, detailed, and incredibly comprehensive guide for effectively implementing quartal and related voicings. He has honed in on the 'secret' to using these structures musically and creatively: moving the voicings through changes in logical and interesting ways. Clearly presented, extremely thorough, and loaded with information, Chords in Motion is a must-have for any pianist! Martin Bejerano Jazz Pianist, Composer, Educator, Assistant Professor, Jazz Piano, Frost School of Music University of Miami Chords in Motion is an in-depth look at fourth and related voicings that give an atmosphere that you want to improvise on. We play over the voicing, not the chord symbol. Chords in Motion targets that modal atmosphere that horn players love playing over. Love this book - can't wait to start practicing it! Jerry Bergonzi Jazz Saxophonist, Composer, Author, Educator, New England Conservatory I was thrilled when Jazz Piano Great Mulgrew Miller agreed to write a quote for this book. I was deeply saddened to hear of Mulgrew's passing just days before publication. All who loved Mulgrew and his music will sorely miss him, and are grateful for the rich musical legacy he left us. Rest easy, Mulgrew. Andy LaVerne
