Text: Lehms, Georg
Christian. The
cantata Widerstehe doch
der Sunde BWV 54 is now
one of Johann Sebastian
Bach's most popular solo
cantatas. The short text,
which comprises three
movements, comes from a
1711 collection of
cantata texts by the
Darmstadt court poet
Christian Lehms, and
warns in drastic terms
that no sinner will
inherit the kingdom of
God. It is certainly no
coincidence that Bach
allocated this text to an
alto voice, then often
regarded as a symbol for
the repentant sinner. The
cantata comes from Bach's
Weimar period and only
survives in a fair copy
of the score by Johann
Gottfried Walther (music
text ) and Johann Tobias
Krebs (vocal text
underlay). This didn't 't
present any difficulties
in preparing an edition.
In Lehms' word book the
cantata is allocated to
Oculi Sunday (the third
Sunday in Lent), but can
also readily be sung on
other occasions in the
church year. Score and

[Category]. Befo
re the implementation of
the new translation
of The Roman Missal,
the Mass of
Redemption enjoyed a
high level of popularity
in parishes across the
country and beyond. With
the advent of the new
translation, this Mass
has become even more
popular. Steve Janco
rewrote the Gloria for
the new translation and
his through-composed
setting is energetic
and bright, bringing a
sparkle to the new text.
The Mass is written in
the bright key of D
major, bringing a joyful
quality to the
celebration of Sunday
Mass, especially during
the Christmas and Easter
seasons, as well as the
Sundays of Ordinary Time.
Set for cantor, choir,
assembly, keyboard, and
guitar (with optional
instrumental parts for
brass quartet and
timpani, two woodwinds,
and handbells), the
choral writing is in two
parts (SA/TB) with
optional third voice,
often a soprano descant,
at climaxes in various
sections. Music directors
agree that the simple
choral arranging makes
this a setting
appropriate for parishes
that do not have the
musical
“forces†to
sing many of the more
vocally complex Mass
settings. Mass of
Redemption brings the
choir, musicians, and
assembly together in a
symphony of praise and
thanksgiving for the
great gift of redemption
in Christ—a
wonderful setting to
raise hearts and voices
to God at Sunday Mass.
Join the hundreds of
parishes that have made
Mass of Redemption a
musical staple and a
reliable setting of the
Mass. Parishes simply
never grow weary of
singing this setting!
 Highlights: Highly
popular among parishes
before the implementation
of new texts, now even
more widely used! Written
in the key of D major,
bringing jubilance to the
celebration of Mass. A
variety of options for
instrumentation with
simple choral
arrangements—ideal
for smaller choirs. A
delightful setting for
the Christmas and Easter
seasons and ideal for
Sundays during Ordinary
Time. Â . $16.00 - Voir plus => AcheterDélais: 1 to 2 weeks

Lehms, Georg
Christian. The
cantata Widerstehe doch
der Sunde BWV 54 is now
one of Johann Sebastian
Bach's most popular solo
cantatas. The short text,
which comprises three
movements, comes from a
1711 collection of
cantata texts by the
Darmstadt court poet
Christian Lehms, and
warns in drastic terms
that no sinner will
inherit the kingdom of
God. It is certainly no
coincidence that Bach
allocated this text to an
alto voice, then often
regarded as a symbol for
the repentant sinner. The
cantata comes from Bach's
Weimar period and only
survives in a fair copy
of the score by Johann
Gottfried Walther (music
text ) and Johann Tobias
Krebs (vocal text
underlay). This didn't 't
present any difficulties
in preparing an edition.
In Lehms' word book the
cantata is allocated to
Oculi Sunday (the third
Sunday in Lent), but can
also readily be sung on
other occasions in the
church year. Score

English. Today is a
new collection of
heartfelt songs for
worship written and/or
arranged for use
throughout the church
year. Based on the
Scriptures, these
beautiful songs are
appropriate for seasonal
use, weddings, funerals,
Sundays, or feast days.
Already a classic,
“Heart of a
Shepherdâ€
incorporates a new
refrain with the timeless
Gelineau chant of the
Twenty-Third Psalm.
“Psalm 118:
Today†is intended
as a companion piece for
Rory’s setting of
Psalm 96 for Christmas.
Both use the same motif
for the word
“todayâ€
(“hodie†or
“today†in
Psalm 96 and
“haecdies†or
“this day†in
Psalm 118). The use of
these settings helps to
connect the feasts of
Christmas and Easter. His
stunning arrangement of
Psalm 22 brilliantly
depicts the intensity of
Jesus’ words
“Why have you
abandoned me?†Each
meaningful composition
will evoke prayerful
participation from your
congregation and bring a
theological depth to your
worship experience. $15.95 - Voir plus => AcheterDélais: 1 to 2 weeks

9790007249052. An
indispensable collection
for professional and
non-professional church
musicians! After the
successful first volume
of chorale preludes on
the seasonal hymns from
Advent to Whitsun,
published on the
anniversary of the new
lectionary of the
Evangelical Church in
Germany, Volume 2 now
follows with preludes on
the hymns from Trinity to
the end of the church
year. With this
two-volume edition,
editor Ingo Bredenbach
has created an
indispensable collection
with chorale preludes for
the two seasonal hymns
for all Sundays and the
most important feast
days. The volumes provide
organists with a
complete, innovative and
varied selection of
chorale preludes. Over a
third of the c. 160
chorale preludes have
been newly composed, and
the others have been
chosen partly from
little-known collections
from the 18th to the 20th
century. Many hymns were
considered for which
there have been no
chorale preludes to date,
or none which are
suitable. With all the
arrangements, there is an
option for shortening the
piece to provide a
suitable intonation. The
difficulty level of the
pieces is structured so
that non-professional
organists can learn the
works within a week,
whilst professional
church musicians can play
from this new collection
with less time needed.
Thanks to the variety of
styles included, the
collection can also be
used in organ teaching.
Both the volumes contain
indices, including one to
enable the use of the
preludes with other hymns
in the Evangelisches
Gesangbuch. $66.95 - Voir plus => AcheterDélais: 2 to 3 weeks
