8 Easy To Intermediate Play-Alongs Of Well-Known Pieces From Ireland, Scotland, ...(+)
8 Easy To Intermediate Play-Alongs Of Well-Known Pieces From Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Cornwall And Brittany. Martin Tourish is an accordionist, composer and musicologist from Co. Donegal, now based in Dublin. Celtic music is in his blood, for his ancestors were noted collectors of dance music manuscripts dating back to the 19th century. With many recordings to his credit, he now offers his expertise to performers wishing to explore the rich culture of Irish and other Celtic music on a variety of instruments.
'World Music - Celtic” presents material from the Irish, Scottish, Welsh, Cornish and Breton traditions. It makes no great technical demands on the players, but Tourish points out that notation of this music is often 'skeletal”, hence it is important to gain a knowledge of the individual traditions in question and, naturally, he offers plenty of information on performance practice.
The collection spans three centuries, from the blind bardic harpists of the 18th century to the international performers of the present day. Tourish accepts that this volume can only scratch the surface of a multi-faceted genre but hopes you will see it as a stepping stone to delve deeper into recordings, festivals and the very communities whence this music comes.
'World Music - Celtic” is available in eight formats, each with complete recordings and backing tracks on CD: as solo versions for violin, violoncello, flute, clarinet, saxophone, recorder or trumpet (with piano) and in an ensemble version for two melodic instruments (C, Bb or Eb), piano, guitar, bass and bodhrán. / Niveau : Facile à Intermédiaire / Recueil / Trompette

Par NORRIS TOMMY. This book contains 30 traditional to modern Celtic tunes arranged in either simple melodic lines with suggested accompaniment chords, or stand-alone melody/chord solos. From rollicking reels and jigs to tender ballads, these Celtic Gems will appeal to the intermediate to advanced mandolinist and their audiences. With a little imagination, the up-tempo melodic tunes could be effectively rendered with drums and electric bass a la Pentangle or Fairport Convention; conversely, three or four of the solo arrangements would provide a tasteful set within a mandolin recital. Take your pick! Presented in standard notation and tablature in mandolin and guitar-friendly keys, these settings provide a masterclass in 4-course instrumental arranging. The author?s online recording of each piece is included with this stellar collection. Includes access to online audio. / Date parution : 2021-12-09/ Tablatures / Mandoline

Par BERTHOUD PHILIP JOHN. Ideal for the intermediate-level guitarist, these 17 traditional tunes from the UK plus one from France are arranged to be played with your electric guitar plugged-in. The transformation that occurs in switching from acoustic to electric instruments adds an unmistakable Celtic rock element to the author's companion recording. The tunes are all played twice through on the recording and transcribed note-for-note in the book. The recording features backup from both electric bass and a second electric guitar, often played with a slide and a little 'dirt? thrown into the mix. Skillful bodhrán and djembe playing on many of the tracks adds to the dynamic nature of the recording. Many of these tunes can be played in lower positions but a few venture as high as the 14th fret. Playing one note at a time within a narrow range, if you don't read particularly well now, working through these tunes will help you improve and gain confidence as a sight reader.Written in standard notation and guitar tablature. Includes access to online audio. / Niveau : Intermédiaire / Musique traditionnelle anglaise, irlandaise, écoss / Tablatures / Guitare Electrique

Media Type : Book Level : Intermediate Musical Genre : Celtic/Irish Series : Editiones Classicae Number of pages : 48 Author Steve Marsh has spent many years playing guitar in the folk clubs of the United Kingdom where Irish music is in abundance. This collection draws from his extensive collection of original arrangements of traditional tunes. The songs vary in style and can be grouped into sets for use in a recital program. Many of the folk songs have been handed down from generation to generation so several versions of a song may exist. Therefore, the author has taken a few liberties with the tempo and rhythmic structures of a limited number of tunes in this collection. In general, the pieces in this album range from moderate standard to difficult. In standard notation only.

Media Type : Book Level : Beginning-Intermediate Musical Genre : Celtic/Irish Number of pages : 33 Turlough O'Carolan was born in County Meath, Ireland in 1670. He was trained as a youth to play the harp, and throughout his life composed a large number of songs. O'Carolan developed a personal style, containing melodic elements of Irish folk music, courtly harp music and Italian baroque music. O'Carolan's music was not published during his lifetime; therefore, various versions of his melodies have been handed down through the aural tradition. It is also not known how he accompanied his melodies. This collection presents 39 favorite O'Carolan melodies in easily playable, lively arrangements for alto (treble) recorder, with guitar chords above the staves. Included are four original melodies by Richard Voss inspired by and in the style of the early master.
