C Major. Par BEETHOVEN LUDWIG VAN. In Beethoven’s Triple Concerto, a piano trio provides the soloists – a first in the history of music. Beethoven’s treatment of the trio is pioneering: he does not apply a typical piano trio setting in contrast to the orchestra, but varies his treatment of the solo parts, allowing each instrument to play alone with the orchestra (particularly the cello), using two solo instruments together in ever new combinations, and finally bringing together all three instruments with the orchestra. Beethoven weaves a complex web – the orchestral, piano, violin and cello voices interplaying and entwining – and he produces a true masterpiece. Bärenreiter’s new Urtext edition of Beethoven’sTriple Concerto is a completely fresh revision of this warm and beautiful showpiece. Errors abounded in all previous editions, but with the assistance of three newly-discovered sources, editor Jonathan Del Mar has cleaned up the text, corrected wrong notes and rhythms and (for the first time since 1807) presented the work in a way that a musician of Beethoven’s day might have recognized, with all necessary information for directing the piece included in the solo piano part. for Pianoforte and Orchestra op. 37-Urtext edition reflecting the latest musicological research. With many corrections in the solo part and orchestral parts.Piano reduction with a separate solo Piano part.A must for pianists orchestras and Beethoven scholars.Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No.3 is the only concerto where no authentic manuscript exists for the solo part. The autograph of the score is available whereby the articulation dynamics and pedal markings are for the most part absent. However Beethoven oversaw the first printed edition of the solo part (1804) with great diligence. Plate corrections bear witness to the care withwhich Beethoven placed slurs and pedal markings in order to be consistent and unambiguous. By means of a thorough examination of the sources this new Urtext edition presents many corrections in terms of articulation dynamics and notes. In particular the orchestral parts have been corrected for the first time since Beethoven’s lifetime.

In April 1814 he could finally give the work its première together with Ignaz Schuppanzigh and Joseph Linke, this being Beethoven?s last public appearance as a pianist. He dedicated the piece to his friend, pupil and patron, Archduke Rudolph of Austria. Today it numbers among his most celebrated pieces of chamber music, not least because of its remarkable melodiousness ? a feature typical of Beethoven?s music from these years ? and its spacious formal design.

Fantasy on the canon Freu' dich des Lebens.

The volume contains original works for piano, such as the ever-popular Für Elise, and expert arrangements of orchestral movements, such as the first movement of the Fifth Symphony and the Ode to Joy from the Ninth Symphony. Beautifully illustrated, and with introductions to all pieces, this handsome book comes in a practical landscape format. Par BEETHOVEN LUDWIG VAN. Between 1996 and 2000 Bärenreiter published scholarly-critical editions of Beethoven 's Nine Symphonies edited by the first class musicologist Jonathan Del Mar. The editorial process was a huge undertaking because of the complex source situation regarding Beethoven's Symphonies culminating in the Choral Symphony (No. 9) which came down to us in nearly 20 different sources. So it was not surprising that Bärenreiter's new Urtext edition caused a considerable stir in the music world. Since publication, Del Mar's edition enjoys the unabashed praise of conductors, performers and critics alike and has become the most widely used publication of the Beethoven Symphonieswhich can be heard not only every day in concert halls, but also on CD recordings by John Eliot Gardiner, David Zinman, Jos van Immerseel and Claudio Abbado. Volume 1, edited by Stewart Gordon, includes the first 8 sonatas (Op. 2, Nos. 1-3; Op. 7; Op. 10, Nos. 1-3; and Op. 13 [Pathtique]), written between 1795 and 1799. Since these autographs no longer exist, this edition is based on the first editions, published by various Viennese engravers. Dr. Gordon discusses a variety of topics including Beethoven's life; the pianos of his time and their limitations; Beethoven's use of articulation, ornamentation, tempo; and the age-old challenge of attempting to determine the definitive interpretation of Beethoven's music. Valuable performance recommendations, helpful fingering suggestions and ornament realizations are offered in this comprehensive critical body of Beethoven's sonatas. Where performance options are open to interpretation, other editors' conclusions are noted, enabling students and teachers to make informed performance decisions.

Beethoven's four-movement Sonata in A-flat major op. 26 belongs to his most popular works. It is dedicated to Prince Lichnowsky, one of his most generous patrons and the dedicatee of, for example, the Grande Sonate pathétique op. 13 and Symphony No. 2 op. 35. The work's initial drafts date from 1800-01 - it was first published in March 1802. This demanding sonata is highly varied in its form: it begins with a set of variations and contains the famous Marcia funebre sulla morte d'un Eroe as its third movement, earning it the nickname 'Sonata with the Funeral March?. The identity of the title's eroe (hero) remains unknown to the present day. The march was performed at Beethoven's funeral on 29 March 1827 in an arrangement for orchestra. For this Bärenreiter edition Jonathan Del Mar, possibly as one of the first editors of a modern edition, consulted the composer's autograph in the original. This enabled him to decipher details of Beethoven's handwriting in particular with regard to the exact notation of doubtful slurs. on a Given Theme Most Excellent Composers and Virtuosos Diabelli Variations. Par BEETHOVEN LUDWIG VAN. Beethoven's 'Diabelli Variations”, written between 1819 and 1823, mark the pinnacle of his oeuvre for variations and next to Bach's 'Goldberg Variations” form one of the most important contributions to this genre. In addition to Beethoven, 50 other composers from Austria, mainly Vienna, followed Diabelli's call to create variations for his famous waltz, among them Czerny, Moscheles, Fr. X. Mozart, Schubert, the 11-year-old Liszt and J. N. Hummel. The variations first printed by Diabelli fictively as 'Fatherlandish Union of Artists Part I” (Beethoven's op. 120) and 'Part II” (the 50 variations of Vienna's 'most excellent composers and virtuosos”) are presented here by Mario Aschauer for the first time in one edition. Furthermore the variations of Part II appear in an Urtext edition for the first time. The musical text is based on a meticulous study of the sources and for the first time relevant discrepancies between the main sources are presented in light grey print. A detailed Critical Commentary (Eng) and notes regarding Viennese piano performance practice during Beethoven's day complete this special Urtext edition based on the most current research.

Livre
