If you want to play this piece only, you can easily extend it, by repeating from 27, perhaps with other soloists? 2. 'Surface Pressure' (55-116) If the cowbell-part is not played, percussionists have to play these two weak beats in 56. The groove for drum set is also very important from 68. Also, that you get a proper swing feeling on 84- 98 and that the drummer in 99 really goes back to even eighths. If you want to extend this piece, you may repeat from 84. If you want to end after this song, you can insert a ritardando 2 bars before 116 and preferably add a quarter note high G, then a quarter rest, and then a darker G. If everyone is ready from the start, the repetition can be omitted. Be sure to play with a bouncy but singing style, not with short and harsh articulations. The so-called Köthener Trauermusik (Cöthen funeral music) was performed at the memorial service for Prince Leopold of Anhalt-Cöthen on 24 March 1729. The history of reconstruction begins in the second half of the nineteenth century. In 1873 Wilhelm Rust, co-editor of the first Complete Bach Edition and subsequently Thomaskantor, established the fundamental relationship between the Köthener Trauermusik on the one hand and the St. Matthew Passion and Trauerode BWV 198 on the other.In the service of concert practice, it is the intention of this attempted reconstruction to enrich the repertoire of church music for Passiontide and the period around the Sunday before Advent, on which the dead are commemorated. Since there are no original sources or documents concerning the first performance of the funeral cantata Gottes Zeit ist die allerbeste Zeit BWV 106, it is impossible to establish the year of origin of this work, called Actus tragicus by Bach. The striking resemblance to the cantatas BWV 131 Aus der Tiefen rufe ich, Herr, zu Dir (presumably 1707), and BWV 71 Gott ist mein König (1708) – both of which were composed in Mühlhausen – suggests that the funeral cantata was also written in Mühlhausen in1707.
