The 'Concerto da Camera” (1941) is the last of his works inspired by the Baroque concerto grosso. The 'Rhapsody-Concerto”, composed eleven years later (1952), was the first work of his so-called 'fantasia period”, marked by a more open sense of form and an expansion of tonality. The edition of the 'Concerto da Camera' shows, for the first time, the extend of Martinu's modifications to the work since its composition and publication, particularly on the solo violin part. The edition of the 'Rhapsody-Concerto” takes into account, among others, the discovery of previously unknown contemporary performance materials. This remained throughout his life, and he held the post of Professor of Composition from 1966-1970 at Paris Conservatoire. Concerto for Bassoon was composed in 1954, and remains highly regarded. Jolivet, himself a cellist, wished to explore composition for all instruments, and therefore has a considerable number of works in all fields. The composer's style is also known for its spirituality, and the desire to associate the everyday with the magical, and the human with the universal. Jolivet draws on acoustics and atonality, asheard in his Concerto for Bassoon. The piece requires high, virtuosic skills due to its expansive use of extended techniques. Par PAVAN CARLOS. Fantasias Concertantes for Bassoon and Guitar by Carlos Pavan. Composer and guitarist Carlos Pavan was born in Argentina and has lived in New York City since the year 2000. In three movements, After Bartók is inspired by Concerto for Orchestra's first movement (the trumpet's theme/quartal harmony/octatonic scale), After Hindemith is based on Symphonic Metamorphosis (2nd movement 'Turandot') using pentatonic/whole tone scale/contrary motion counterpoint, and After Stravinsky is inspired by The Rite of Spring and Symphonies of Wind Instruments, using mostly octatonic harmony and jazz concepts. / Date parution : 2022-11-29/ Répertoire / Basson et Guitare

in B-Dur / Bb Major. Par STAMITZ CARL. German composer Carl Stamitz wrote more than 60 concertos for Violin, Viola, Viola d'amore, Cello, Clarinet, Basset Horn, Flute, Bassoon and other instruments. Some of the Clarinet and Viola concertos that Stamitz composed are considered to be among the finest available from the period. Stylistically, Stamitz 's music is not too far removed from the works of the young Mozart, or those of Haydn's middle period. The Clarinet Concerto No. 3 was likely written around 1785, which was the same year that Stamitz was appointed the lead Violin of the Duc de Noailles in Paris. The style of thisconcerto reflects the usual orchestration found in the mid-eighteenth century, where most of the important musical material was given to the strings, while the winds were left to fill in the harmony. Bohuslav Martinu wrote his First Violin Concerto in Paris in 1932-33, this work having been commissioned by the violin virtuoso Samuel Dushkin. However, it was never performed during the composer's lifetime and was even considered lost after his death. It was not until 1961 that musicologist and collector Hans Moldenhauer bought it from Boaz Piller, contrabassoonist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Moldenhauer approached Czech violinist Josef Suk, who gave the world premiere of the work with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra under Georg Solti in October 1973.This piano reduction is based on the musical text of the first edition.
