As a composer he worked for nearly all theatre companies in Flanders and he wrote over a 100 different theatre plays, amongst which the complete oeuvre of Molière and Shakespeare. He was also the musical director for all Brecht plays for KNS theatre in Antwerp, where he worked as the home composer for 10 years. He than became the musical coordinator for the Royal Ballet of Flanders and he wrote several ballet compositions for symphony orchestra. He has his own close-harmony and jazz trio, and he works freelance as a composer and as artistic director in several musical productions. Salsa has become quite a dance craze. Its popularity has grown from the Cuban and Puerto Rican community to include most of the Americas, Europe, and even Japan. New Salsa bands are forming everywhere from New York to Los Angeles, from Tokyo to Paris. But despite its increasing popularity, many musicians find that Salsa and the other genres of Afro Cuban Music are still very difficult to feel and play in an authentic relaxed way. This type of music with its unique concept of the Clave presents quite a challenge for the aspiring young performer. In the past, the only way to learn how to play Salsa was to live in an area where Salsa was already very popular so that one might connect with as many authentic musicians as possible; learning one pattern here, another there, via a very slow learning process that could take years if not decades to accomplish. Even though the process of immersing oneself fully and experientially in the music style of our choosing is absolutely necessary for our musical growth, the need for concise, well written, and organized materials, written by someone who knows and lives this type of music is also essential. Five years after the release of the monster album Thriller, which sold a record-breaking 105 million copies worldwide up to this date, this second single from the album Bad, released in 1987, also peaked at number one on the Billboard chart. This song was performed during Michael’s first solo world tour that started from Japan (Korakuen Stadium) in September 1987. The short film directed by Martin Scorsese also generated great publicity. In particular, the animated group dance scene in the subway made a huge impact on the viewers and distinguished Michael’s image. As the video depicts, “bad” in this song’s lyrics indicate the kicking, cool unruly living on thestreets. As the opening number, Bad strikes out a course of slight-but-right edginess with its dynamically groovy arrangement that underscores the electric funk in the original tune. Sergei Prokofiev's nine piano sonatas span the years 1907 to 1953. This collection, edited by Thomas Schumacher, addresses the first four of these masterworks: Op. 1 (in F minor), Op. 14 (in D minor), Op. 28 (in A minor), and Op. 29 (in C minor).
