Dubbed to be 'the first choral boyband', The Choirboys present their unique take on popular and classical favourites, all arranged here for Piano, Voice and Guitar. Like all boys their age, these three youngsters enjoy football, computer games and rock music. More unusually, Ben, Patrick and CJ also enjoy centuries-old choral music by the greatest classical composers. This junior version of the Three Tenors was formed following a nationwide search that took talent scouts to nearly 50 cathedrals and churches all over the country. This is the matching songbook to the trio's debut album, recorded during their summer holidays at the All Saints Church in Tooting, London with the English Chamber Ensemble under Martin Neary. The trio are favourites to be Christmas number one with their version of the Eric Clapton song Tears in Heaven . / Piano/Vocal/Guitare (PVG)

As one of Hollywood's most memorable films, and perhaps the greatest screen adaptation of a novel ever, the 1939 Wizard Of Oz brought the words to music, entrenching the songs in popular culture and ensuring their timelessness. With this Piano, Vocal and Guitar book, you can learn every song from the hit movie. There were other film adaptations of L. Frank Baum's book before and after it, but the 1939 version, starring Judy Garland, remains the one where visual imagination and unforgettable songs gave us a definitive version. What 'Yip' Harburg and Harold Arlen created was a film bursting with unforgettable musical sequences, putting their talented songwriting brains together to produce this most famous of musicals. Obviously, a song like Over The Rainbow needs no introduction, winning an Academy Award for resonating with our desire for something better, and becoming especially prescient given the world war about to erupt. The rest of Harburg and Arlen's songs for the film are just as evocative, instantly conjuring Dorothy's legendary journey from Kansas to Oz and back. An absolute pleasure to perform, these songs belie their 75-year vintage and sound as fresh today as they did when audiences were first thrilled to hear them in the cinema. In this Wizard Of Oz sheet music song book, every song from the film is included, Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead, We're Off To See The Wizard, Follow The Yellow Brick Road, If I Only Had A Brain and If I Only Had A Heart, plus more.Arranged for Piano, Vocal and Guitar, each fantastic song includes vocal melody, Piano parts, Guitar chord boxes and symbols and full lyrics. It really is everything you need to learn the songs exactly as they were played and sung in the film version. You are guaranteed to enjoy performing the famous songs, and you'll love discovering the more unfamiliar ones if you don't already know them by heart! Because of the nature of these songs, they'll never go out of fashion, so you'll always have something great to perform. If you've ever wanted to learn Over The Rainbow note for note, or how exactly the ensemble sang We're Off To See The Wizard, look no further than this Wizard Of Oz sheet music song book, arranged for Piano, Vocal and Guitar. / Piano/Vocal/Guitare (PVG)

Das Liederspiel. Par HUMPERDINCK ENGELBERT. When Engelbert Humperdinck’s fairy tale opera Hänsel und Gretel was premiered on 23 December 1893 in Weimar conducted by Richard Strauss, the work could look back on an extensive history of origin. Humperdinck’s younger sister Adelheid Wette (born in 1858) had displayed a great interest in literature in her youth and written a variety of poems for special occasions. In 1888, she wrote a fairy tale entitled Schneewittchen [Snow White] and her brother supplied some songs for this piece. Further fairy tale collaborations followed which were customarily performed within the family circle, and the first draft of the Hänsel und Gretel was begun in 1890. Adelheid’s husband would be celebrating his 34th birthday on 16 May of this year and his wife intended to surprise him with a performance of her version of this fairy tale. Her brother was allotted the task of composing the accompanying songs and, a month before the birthday, she wrote a letter to him in Mainz where Engelbert Humperdinck was among other activities working as an editor for the Schott publishing house, ordering a “very pretty folkloric” Tanzlied [Dance song], a Waldlied [Forest song] (or Echolied [Echo song]), a Schlummerlied [Lullaby] and a Kickericki-Lied [Cock-a-doodle-doo song] from her “dear sugar-sweet little brother... Engel-Bärtchen [angel beard]”. She enclosed the corresponding verses with the letter and “for fun” also provided her own invented melody for the Schlummerlied and rhythmic suggestions for the Tanzlied. Humperdinck went straight to work and, as related in an entry in his diary, was already able to play the songs to the director of the publishing house, Dr Ludwig Strecker, by 19 April. This was the history of origin of the four songs published for the first time edited in form of their original versions in this edition Brüderchen komm’ tanz’ mit mir, Wer ruft mir im Walde doch alles nach, In den Zweigen die Vögelein und Tirelireli! ‘s ist nicht mehr früh “for two children’s voices and piano accompaniment” (see manuscript1). In his reply letter to his sister in which the fair copy of the songs were enclosed, Humperdinck wrote: “As you see, the pitch of the melodies is not too high and I have incorporated your melodies. Let me know soon whether you like the little songs. By the way, the ‘cock-a-doodle-doo’ can also be sung on one note (E flat) instead of on the four notes of the chord.” The first performance of the song-play was held as planned within the family circle with Wettes’ two eldest daughters in the two principle roles. Spurred on by the success of the family performance, initial plans were forged to adapt the song-play into a singspiel with numerous musical numbers and rhymed dialogues; Hermann Wette participated in a draft of the text. The particell of this singspiel had been completed by Christmas 1890. Hugo Wolf and a few others however advised the composer to extend the singspiel into a through-composed fairy tale opera. Humperdinck followed this advice and worked on what he ironically termed as a “Kinderstubenweihfestspiel“ [sacred festive play for the nursery] during the next two summers in Bayreuth. Tanzliedchen [Dance song] and Morgenweckruf [Cock-a-doodle-doo song] were eventually included in the opera in a modified form. / Niveau : Intermédiaire / Répertoire / 2 Voix et Piano

(+)
Complete Edition. Par LISZT FRANZ. Supplementary Volume 16 of the New Liszt Edition contains free arrangements and technical exercises. In the first section can be found early versions of three arrangements. The first consists of the first and intermediary versions of a transcription of Die Rose, a song Schubert composed to a poem by Schlegel. The arrangement of the second movement of Berlioz's Harold Symphony also draws on literary inspiration: Lord Byron's (1788-1824) narrative poem Childe Harold's Pilgrimage (1812-18) was a literary experience Liszt shared with Berlioz. The fantasy on themes from Bellini's opera La sonnambula [The Sleepwalker] (here the first version of 1842, and the second version dating from the following decade are given) is important in music history because it was while he worked on this (and other operatic fantasies) that Liszt developed a new concept of the form, which took shape in more complex and more concentrated fantasies than before. Particularly interesting material can be found in the appendix. In addition to sketches and drafts for arrangements of Spanish themes, there are three sources published here for the first time, which shed light on technical aspects of Liszt's piano teaching. These are three sets of exercises: the first written by Liszt himself for Valérie Boissier in 1832, the second a copy in an unidentified hand from the same period or slightly later, and finally the third which was noted down in 1871 by Henri Maréchal in Rome based on the composer's dictation. This matching folio includes every song from Bob Dylan's album Shadows In The Night, the critically acclaimed album of standard pop tunes originally recorded by Frank Sinatra. Featuring all ten songs arranged for Piano, Voice and Guitar, with full lyrics and chord boxes, this songbook is perfect for fans of Dylan, Sinatra or simply fantastic tunes. The album itself was highly anticipated, with Bob Dylan announcing he was 'un-covering' a collection of classic pop standards, hand-selected by himself. Dylan is certainly no stranger to cover versions, drawing from the folk tradition in his early career and putting out 2 back-to-back folk cover albums in the early 1990s. The news that this album would be a collection of songs made famous by Sinatra came as a surprise, considering Sinatra's derision of the early days of the folk scene. Despite this, time forged a mutual respect, with Dylan even, perhaps half-jokingly, claiming he was merely a 'song and dance man'. Dylan's long-term love for songs such as these resulted in Shadows In The Night, a collection of songs made famous by one of the greatest singers ever, performed by possibly the greatest songwriter ever.Shadows In The Night is not just a collection of standards, however, it's a beautiful reinterpretation of simple songs featuring some of Dylan's best singing in recent years. With this Bob Dylan sheet music, you can learn all songs from the album, including I'm A Fool To Want You, Full Moon And Empty Arms, and Why Try To Change Me Now. The career of Bob Dylan has been full of twists, turns and continual reinvention. Throughout, though, the consistent thread has been that he dictates his own path, and this album is an intensely personal one. On the album, you can hear the rustling of paper, the measured intake of breath, and you get the real sense that these songs are truly meaningful. The Shadows In The Night sheet music allows you to learn these wonderful new arrangements in their entirety, the subdued Guitar chords, the Piano accompaniment, and Dylan's unmistakeable vocal part. Songs like Stay With Me and Autumn Leaves feature melancholy melodies that take on an entirely new meaning when sung by such a musical legend, while the highlight of the album, That Lucky Old Sun, has a stunningly uplifting vocal performance that perfectly complements the quietly beautiful arrangement of his band. The subtle, subdued and simple arrangements of these tunes are begging to be covered, performed and played in your own home. The calm backing instruments throughout the album make this Shadows In The Night sheet music songbook perfect for a solo Piano performance, a singer's reinvention or an intimate and acoustic band cover. With accurate transcriptions, this Bob Dylan sheet music is the best place from which to learn these incredible covers that just call out to be sung over and over. The best thing about Shadows In The Night is how universal and timeless it is. These are songs composed by some of the greatest, that were then made famous by one of the greatest, and now reinvented by one of the greatest - it doesn't get much better than that! The album is perfect for purists, consummate for casual players and brilliant whether you're a pianist, guitarist or singer. If you want to learn how Dylan played these wonderful tunes, check out this Shadows In The Night sheet music songbook. / Piano/Vocal/Guitare (PVG)

'That's all my neighbour ever plays!? Like Anne Sylvestre, are you tormented by endless repetitions of Für Elise? Why not widen the repertoire of your budding musician with this collection of 38 whimsical pieces for Piano? Enhanced with an audio version accessible through a download card, this anthology presents an array of pieces for students with 3 to 5 years of lessons under their belt. The warm miniatures from Accueil amical, op. 326 by Darius Milhaud reflect his close ties with Paul Claudel's family, who hosted him often in New York during the war. Alexander Gretchaninov cheerfully cultivates 'the art of being a grandpa? (G. Sacre), enchanting pianists with his Historiettes and Promenade au bois. In Le coin de Claudinet, Henri Tomasi offers some irresistible little tableaux, such as the Réveil du petit soldat. Excerpts from Koechlin's Douze petites pièces faciles and Tcherepnin's Bagatelles, as well as many other treasures composed by Hahn, Bozza, Albéniz and Borodin, complete this fabulous collection. / Piano

Original Version - Edition for Cello and Piano. Par SCHUMANN ROBERT. Schumann’s Cello Concerto Rediscovered In her first Urtext edition for Edition Peters, internationally renowned cellist Josephine Knight reveals Robert Schumann’s original version of his Cello Concerto in A minor Op. 129 – a piece he actually called a ‘Concertstück’ – removing generations of inauthentic editorial interventions. This is the only available modern scholarly edition of the work as Schumann originally conceived it, and restores the text from October 1850, based on the composer’s manuscript held in the Biblioteka Jagiellonska in Kraków. This Full Score matches the separately available edition for Cello and Piano (EP 73488). Matching orchestral material is also available from the publisher. Only modern Urtext edition based on Schumann’s original 1850 manuscript Many new corrections and clarifications, especially to the cello part Scholarly preface detailing history of the work and this edition by editor Josephine Knight, Piatti Professor of Cello at the Royal Academy of Music London Cello Part contains Josephine Knight's fingering and bowing suggestions Critical Commentary Cello and piano edition available separately from Edition Peters: orchestral parts available for rental Recording of the Concertstück featuring Josephine Knight available from Dutton Robert Schumann’s tragic last years have mired many of his greatest works in unnecessary doubt. The story of the suppression of his Violin Concerto by well-meaning friends is relatively well-known. Few, however, know that the version of the Cello Concerto that is routinely heard today is so far from Schumann’s original conception of the work – not only in details of phrasing and articulation, but also featuring a different ending with a bold final flourish from the cello. Composed in a burst of inspiration in two weeks in October 1850 shortly after he and Clara had moved to Düsseldorf, Schumann (who in 1850 was still in good health) never heard the piece performed. In an effort to promote a performance of the work, he gave the score to the cellist Robert Emil Bockmühl. Bockmühl made revisions that Schumann resisted, and the hoped-for performance never happened. Schumann’s health failed and he died aged just 46 in 1856. The Concerto, in an already substantially revised form, was premiered in 1860 but it was not given significant recognition until it was championed by Pablo Casals in the 20th century by which time (and since) the text for the work had accreted additions and alterations from generations of soloists. Now Josephine Knight, Piatti Professor of Cello at the Royal Academy of Music, London has returned to the original 1850 manuscript of the work, which is in the Biblioteka Jagiellonska in Kraków, to reveal Schumann’s original thoughts for the first time in a modern Urtext edition. The edition reflects Schumann’s original conception of the work as a Concertstück and restores Schumann’s musical text, free of posthumous interventions. ‘My ultimate wish,’ says the editor, ‘is to give performers both access to, and confidence that they are playing from, an edition which is a true representation of the piece in its original form, no matter how much more difficult this might be. I found that incorporating the changes enabled the piece to take on a completely different character – one that is lighter and happier, even “cheerful”, as Schumann himself described the work.'/ Répertoire / Violoncelle et Piano

(+)
During the visit to Brive-la-Gaillarde in 1940, Poulenc sketched a little piece for the children of his cousins: Sophie, Sylvie, Benoit, Florence and Delphine Périer, Yvan, Alain, Marie-Christine and Marguerite-Marie Villotte, and their two friends Marthe Bosredon and André Lecoeur. This took the form of a musical background to Jean de Brunhoff's popular illustrated children's story about Babar, a baby elephant whose mother is killed by a huntsman. Fortunately Babar meets a kind elderly lady who dresses him in a fine suit and gives him an impressive motor-car.However, Babar feels homesick for his forests, and is pleased when his cousins, Arthur and Celeste, find him and needs no persuasion to go home with them. Back in the forest, where the King of the Elephants has eaten a poisonous mushroom, Babar is elected to succeed as King. He marries Celeste, and the last we hear of him is thinking of a rosy future as he dreamily looks up at a marvellously star-filled sky.Poulenc's score, to which he returned and completed in 1945, is for a narrator and a Piano, so written that the individual sections offer the pianist a number of self-contained descriptive pieces, such as a Lullaby, a Reverie, a Galop, a Nocturne and so on. Indeed, some of Poulenc's finest Piano music is found in these charming pages. In 1962, Jean Françaix made an orchestral version, and Barbar has been enjoyed by children of all ages all over the world. An English translation of the text was made by Nelly Rieu. This particular edition is arranged for Narrator and Piano duet (1 Piano, 4 hands) and a separate insert with English translation is included. / Piano 4 Mains

(+)
Brahms had already announced his ?retirement' from composition when in the spring of 1894 he played chamber music with the cellist Robert Hausmann and the clarinettist Richard Mühlfeld. This encounter apparently renewed his enthusiasm for Mühlfeld's much admired playing and inspired him to write two clarinet sonatas in the summer of the same year. Brahms conceived an alternate version of the works for viola from the beginning and already before the publication of these two versions he intended to do another one for violin, a version which was to require changes and was to result in an independent edition. While the clarinet and viola versions have developed a rich performance tradition, the violin version is almost unknown. Yet for the violin version the composer revised the original clarinet part much more extensively than he did for the viola version and also rewrote the piano part to achieve a thoroughly convincing violin and piano idiom. This Bärenreiter edition aims to bring the neglected violin sonatas op. 120 back into players' hands. An important part of this edition is the extensive preface. Firstly it informs about the sonatas' origins, their compositional process, pre-publication performances, their publication history as well as early reception. Truly remarkable is the unique Performance Practice Commentary. Here the editors start from the premise that already a few decades after Brahms' death, a widening gulf developed between the composer's expectations and the performance practices of the early 20th century. On the basis of manifold sources which include memoirs by pupils and chamber music partners, treatises and essays, early instructive editions and historical recordings, the editors deal with key issues in understanding Brahms' notation. By a section-by-section analysis of rhythm and timing, dynamics and accentuation, dots and strokes, slurring and non legato, piano pedalling and overholding, piano arpeggiation and dislocation, string instrument fingering, string instrument harmonics and vibrato, the editors provide an indispensable assistance for a historically informed interpretation of the works. At the same time, the edition offers an exciting and often surprising insight into musical interpretation of the German Romantic Era in general.- A pioneering Urtext edition- With an unmarked Urtext part- With a second part including fingering and bowing based on the practices of contemporaries of Brahms- With an extensive Performance Practice Commentary- For further information on Romantic performance practice we recommend the text booklet: 'Performance Practices in Johannes Brahms' Chamber Music?, BA 9600 / Violon Et Piano

This is the first time that a version of Gustav Holst's The Planets for solo Piano has been published. In this glorious publication, the emotional rollercoaster that is this seven-movement orchestral suite can be played on a single Piano, with those crashing chords and textural melodies sounding just fantastic on the solo keys.Originally scored for two pianos and four hands, this epic orchestral work continues to astound and astonish audiences around the world, even a century after Holst begun work on the first movement, Mars, the Bringer of War. This volume allows the solo pianist to emulate those glorious melodies, wonderful harmonies and dynamic rhythms, bringing the wonder of The Planets to the keys. This unique arrangement of The Planets reduces the entire orchestra to just a solo Piano, with some fingering hints throughout. The lovely engraving is an absolute pleasure to read from, and the sound of those thunderous rhythms and sweet melodies sounds absolutely brilliant coming from the purity and clarity of a solo Piano. With all seven movements included in this The Planets sheet music, you'll be able to learn Mars, Venus, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune, in the entire work that's sometimes thunderous, occasionally calm, often bombastic but always beautiful. With the full-colour astrophotography of the cover, the detailed, accurate and clear engraving and the inherent uniqueness of such an arrangement befits the timeless and enduring achievement of a work like this. The compositional history and musical qualities of The Planets are fascinating, and the lengthy introduction details the rhythms, the harmonies and the personality that Holst injected into his work, so you can learn about this glorious work before delving into the stunning arrangement of each of the seven movements. For the first time, the epic and vast work of art that is Gustav Holst's The Planets has been arranged for solo Piano, so you can play the entirety of these seven movements as a single pianist, incorporating all of the atmospheric dynamics and universal themes into the keys. / Piano

Ed. critica di Martin Deasy - Riduzione per canto e pianoforte. Par PUCCINI GIACOMO. What is being presented here is the piano vocal score of Le Villi, Giacomo Puccini’s first stage work, the full score of which was published by Casa Ricordi (NR 141755) in 2020.The premiere of Le Villi took place at the Teatro Regio in Turin on 27 December 1884, and was followed by a Milanese performance at Teatro alla Scala on 24 January 1885: both productions were quite well received by critics and public alike. The critical edition by Martin Deasy is based on the autograph score that Puccini initially prepared for the one-act version (Willis), and later modified for the two-act, revised version (Villi). Pursuing a groundbreaking philological approach, the editor has, furthermore, taken into proper consideration the contemporaneous printed editions of the piano vocal score, which constitute, in his view, the principal collateral sources, if one is to consider the particular genesis of this work. For it is certain that Puccini, upon entering the Sonzogno competition, submitted a score of Willis that lacked proper orchestration in a few pages and displayed, above all, incomplete vocal lines. However, he also provided a manuscript reduction for piano and vocal score (now lost, except for the final Number of Willis) that was undoubtedly more detailed, as far as the vocal lines were concerned. The editor demonstrates that the vocal material realized for the first performance of Willis was not derived from the autograph score, but from the lost score reduction. The latter also served as the basis for the preparation of Ricordi’s printed edition of the piano vocal score./ Répertoire / Chant et Piano

(+)
As a continuation of the new Urtext edition of the Schubert lieder, Walther Dürr has now edited volume five for high, medium and low voices. Volumes 1 to 4 of this edition contain mainly lieder which Schubert himself saw into print (in his own choice and order) and in the fourth volume works from the last two years of his life are included. The lieder in volume 5 onwards are strictly presented in the order of Deutsch's Thematic Catalogue which means that in principle they are arranged chronologically. The lieder in volume five were composed in the years 1811 to 1814. The first - 'Hagars Klage' (D 5), dated 30 March 1811 - is also his first complete surviving song. The first eleven lieder are evidence of his early studies (1811-1813/14). During this period Schubert immersed himself in Johann Rudolf Zumsteeg's ballads and lieder and wrote Italian arias during his composition lessons with Antonio Salieri. He also composed a single strophic song ('Klaglied', D 23), which - the only one of these songs - was published shortly after his death in November 1830 as op. 131, 3. His apprentice work, as it were, was the major ballade 'Der Taucher' (D 77) which was composed between 1813 and roughly the beginning of 1815. Probably not by chance, his first complete opera ('Des Teufels Lustschloss', D 84) was written at the same time. He also set fourteen poems by Friedrich von Matthisson exploring the principle of the strophic lied. - Excellent new engraving based on the 'New Schubert Edition'- Foreword by Walther Dürr discussing the history the works' composition and transmission, together with a list of sources for each song (Ger/Eng)- English translation of the song texts by Richard WigmoreContents:Hagars Klage, D 5 / Leichenfantasie, D 7 /Der Vatermörder, D 10 / Klaglied, op. post. 131, 3 - D 23 / Misero pargoletto, D 42 (high voice only) / Totengräberlied, D 44 / Die Schatten, D 50 / Verklärung, D 59 / Pensa che questo istante, D 76 (medium and low voice only) /Der Taucher, D 77 / Son fra l'onde, D 78 (high voice only) /Adelaide, D 95 / Trost.
