In the late 1990s, a score was found in Germaine Tailleferre’s papers with the title page “Choral et Fugue pour orchestre d’harmonie†and a dedication “à L'Harmonie Municipale de Lyonâ€. The pages which followed contained the score of “Choral†for organ with optional brass and “Fugue†for orchestra. When the late composer Desiré Dondeyne was consulted concerning this score, he confirmed that this work had been projected, but refused to say anything further on the subject. Research was undertaken to try to locate a scale in the municipal archives of the City of Lyons (as the Municipal Band no longer exists) but proved to be unsucessful. It is unclear whether or not Tailleferre intended to undertake this work herself or if she intended to entrust it (as she often did) to Dondeyne. In any case, it would appear that the concert band version for this work was probably never completed. Paul Wehage, a longtime scholar of the works of Tailleferre, has undertaken the orchestration of this work The Fugue movement remains close to Tailleferre’s original version for orchestra. The choral section is entirely rescored. This similarity contains some kind of secret, which certainly has its own history. I dedicated my orchestral transcription to The National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine. In my opinion, this short piece could decorate any concert of a symphony orchestra as an encore. Considering the modest composition of performers, it could have been successfully performed by almost any chamber orchestra. (Fl, 1.2 Ob, Cl in B, Bn, Harp and Strings).

SPRING FOUNTAINS MARCH is a fun, exci􀆟ng concert march for young bands. With tutti syncopation and lots of flourishes, the band will be able to express the joy of spring as fountains in the park start up again.Woodwinds—Only the clarinet part is split throughout. The alto sax has a couple of split measures to reinforce the trills but supports the horn line for the rest of the march. The tenor sax supports the horn part when the altos have the trills. The ranges are within most 1st-year players and easily within 2nd-year players range. The 2nd Clarinet never goes above the break. The trills for all woodwinds (fountains) are easy trills for younger players.Brass—Only the trumpet part is split and it is rhythmically unison throughout. Low brass/woodwinds are mostly entirely unison throughout the piece. Like the WW’s, all parts are playable by 1st-year players. Percussion uses a standard concert march instrumentation. I have arranged some pieces that can be used as either programmatic or an encore. Often you just need one or two short pieces to complete your program and these work very well indeed to achieve that. Because they have already been performed, the kinks have been ironed out and are ready to play. Parts are sold in a set and each one contains a cover page, meaning it is possible to print a booklet. Based on Grieg's famous orchestral movement from 'Peer Gynt Suite no.1', this arrangement is a contemporary twist on an old classic and designed to appeal to young audiences and musicians. It was originally written for Sæbø Skulemusikklag, Norway, for World Brass Day 2017. The performance was recorded as representation of Norwegian culture and uploaded to Youtube in a shared playlist alongside others from around the globe*. The arrangement begins in a similar creepy manner to the original, tip-toeing in and gradually building up to a frightening frenzy. Something of a surprise is in store for the audience after a familiar opening however; a dubstep/drum n bass twist drops in before the melody rejoins in a new fashion, leading on to solo moments for drum kit and timpani. Elements of the original orchestration are again infused into the repeated refrain to intensify the music towards a dramatic final close.Note to conductors:Difficult solo tuba parts are a feature, but a simplified version is also supplied for less advanced players.The soprano cornet, 2nd horn and 2nd baritone parts are supplementary and can be omitted without problem. Beginner level (aspirant) parts are provided, written in B and E flat as 'Trolls' so that newer band members can join in. *this arrangement has been edited since that performance for publication.

The Yorkshire area is especially beautiful, and the music was inspired by my memory of sitting on a train with a tea in hand on a drizzly day. However, I was never fully satisfied with the work, as it felt incomplete. One reason was that I was rushed to meet a short deadline when composing this piece. It wasn't until the summer of 2018 that I decided to do it justice and revise it. I also felt like it deserved an orchestral version. Published by Vessela Stoyanova (A0.1201464). “Mountain Goats and Other Creatures†was Commissioned by Rachel Jayson and the Lexington High School Symphony Orchestra.It was inspired by the folk music of my native land of Bulgaria, informed by my experience as a rock musician, reimagined through the lense of my place inside of a community of like-minded artists and musicians, where I have made my real home today. The first movement - Mountain Goats - is a sort of celebration of renewal, promise, and hope. It represents the tenacious will of grass growing through the snow of early spring, the powerful longing for human connection, the warmth of the sun against your skin on a bright chilly day. It carries both the pristine optimism of youth, and the nervous energy of trying something for the first time. The second movement - Samodivi - in contrast is dark, heavy and full of passion and desire. According to Balkan myths, Samodivi are gorgeous nymphs who live in the woods and often seduce men with their beautiful song and dance. They are feared and envied at the same time. The music of the second movement represents the mysterious dark forest at night - lower strings create the moss under your feet, higher strings use extended techniques to simulate the noise of branches clicking the wind, a few soloists represent different creatures - both real and imaginary - scurry through the woods above your head. Then you hear the lone song of a Samodiva in the distance, your heart is beating hard, your steps are leading you straight towards the call against your better judgement. It is the ancient story of fear and desire, of self control and complete abandon. You, the listener, become witness to a wild dance, fire in the woods, snakes in their long blond hairs, slender bodies dressed in white clouds dancing to an imaginary beat.  Then it all ends abruptly and you left to wonder: Was it real? Did I see it? Am I safe?The third and final movement of the piece is based on a popular rhythmic folk dance in Bulgaria called Kopanitsa, while the melody creates a fugue between the different voices of the orchestra. The Kids are the little of the mountain goats - free to frolic high above tree line, above any human traces, as close to the clouds as one can get and still be touching the ground below. They are carefree, daring, and somewhat naive, yet safe under the watchful gaze of their parent. The movements ends in cascading repetitions of a musical motif in 5/8 representing the relentless passing of time or at least our perception of it.
