It does “borrow†the theme from Hall of the Mountain King by Edvard Grieg in his Peer Gynt Suite.This is a great piece for the fall or spring concert. All the wind ranges are within the range of a 2nd-year or 1st-year 2nd semester year player. Only the Clarinets, Alto Sax and Trumpet have split parts. This is mostly for range and harmonic expansion. 2nd clarinets never go above the break. Low brass/WW are mostly unison, but they do have some independence. At the end, ms. 66, there is an optional blood-curdling scream that is NOT notated in the parts. Have fun with this.All sections get the melody and percussion even has an 8-measure feature. SPRING FOUNTAINS MARCH is a fun, exci􀆟ng concert march for young bands. With tutti syncopation and lots of flourishes, the band will be able to express the joy of spring as fountains in the park start up again.Woodwinds—Only the clarinet part is split throughout. The alto sax has a couple of split measures to reinforce the trills but supports the horn line for the rest of the march. The tenor sax supports the horn part when the altos have the trills. The ranges are within most 1st-year players and easily within 2nd-year players range. The 2nd Clarinet never goes above the break. The trills for all woodwinds (fountains) are easy trills for younger players.Brass—Only the trumpet part is split and it is rhythmically unison throughout. Low brass/woodwinds are mostly entirely unison throughout the piece. Like the WW’s, all parts are playable by 1st-year players. Percussion uses a standard concert march instrumentation. Other than the Beatles, it was the first type of music that inspired me to figure out what they were playing. My favorites were Yes, ELP, and Kansas among others. The piece is marked AGGRESSIVE but intentionally does not have a tempo marking. I wrote it at 180 bpm but can be effective slightly below that but I would not attempt it much faster. This piece will greatly challenge ALL of your players. I'm sure that they, and your audience, will have an exhilarating experience performing this piece.Finally, someone is going to ask “What does ‘Metallic Khatru’ mean?†Nothing. I just liked the name.NOTE - This version requires that the score be printed with Legal size paper. The parts are printed in Letter size. In my experience, this was the most common for US groups to be able to print. - There is another version that has the score in Tabloid & Concert size if that fits your needs better. Let It Snow!, also known as Let It Snow, is a song written by lyricist Sammy Cahn and composer Jule Styne in July 1945. It was written in Hollywood, California, during a heat wave as Cahn and Styne imagined cooler conditions. Despite the lyrics not mentioning any holiday, the song has come to be regarded as a Christmas song in North America due to its winter theme, being played on radio stations during the Christmas and holiday season, and having often been covered by various artists on Christmas-themed albums. This is playable for 2nd-year players and has split parts to provide easier ranges for younger players and add more harmonic texture. Published by KyleMac Music (A0.1215499). Gene Autry, the Singing Cowboy, made this song famous in 1949. Based upon a book by Marks’ brother-in-law, Robert L. May, Marks wanted to put the popular 1939 Montgomery Ward story into song. Johnny Marks, a decorated World War II hero, wrote several popular Christmas songs besides Rudolph. The song’s translation into several languages even had an effect on Finnish Christmas tradition – Rudolph is now head of Joulupukki’s sleigh (the Finnish Santa)! The only difference is that the Finnish reindeer don’t fly.This arrangement has a fun swing style to it. Harmonization is slightly more advanced from a Grade I tune, but the rhythms and ranges are very approachable for young musicians. The style lets them experience a standard swing feel.The percussion is written for a drum set but can be separated as a traditional part for concert band. Sleighbells can have as many players as you want. I often had children come from the audience and give them little toy sleigh bells to play. The A section is a modified minor blues form, with a B section that feels a bit like a very distantly substituted rhythm changes. It works great with any style of small combo, obviously I wrote it for violin but any instrument can take the lead. There are over 500 arrangements of this tune for sale on this site, but there is exactly ONE reason you should choose this one over any of the rest of them. It is in THE KEY OF C!! As advertised, you will find absolutely no, none, zero, zilch, NADA! accidentals in the key signature. That said, the tune is pretty chromatic as you well know, so there will of course be ample accidentals, marked clearly & appropriately as needed. As they get closer and closer, the caravan gets louder and louder.Those that have been around camels, know how loud they can get!All wind parts are easily within a Grade 1 and playable by 1st-year players. Percussion is much busier (8 players) than some Grade I but it is easily playable. The timpani uses 3 pitches and there are no pitch changes.Â
