Romance for Solo Trombone and Orchestra by Elizabeth Raum was originally commissioned by the Canadian Music Competition as a test piece.The work is lush and with rich harmonies of about 5 1/2 minutes in length and can be performed by moderately advanced performers.Kurt Kellan, past Principal Hornist with the Calgary Philharmonic, had often asked Elizabeth Raum to orchestrate this piece, so when the occasion arose for a new piece for the 2001 Prairie Festival of New Music, she decided to adapt the piece for solo Trombone and Orchestra.Instrumentation is for:Solo Trombone, Flute, Oboe, Clarinet in B-flat, Bassoon and Strings.

STRING ORCHESTRA WARMUPS is something every orchestra conductor should definitely have included in student music folders. Since the focus is on warming up there is not a high degree of technique involved. They consist of eight warm-up exercises composed specifically for elementary or junior high students. There is also no reason why they could not be used with more advanced players. All exercises are in three part harmony and are very melodic and harmonic and enjoyable to perform. These short exercises are an excellent way for any string orchestra to start or finish a rehearsal concentrating on intonation and producing the best solid and full sound possible. Second Son (For Stephen) - Orchestra Score and Parts PDF
This lovely tune is dedicated to my second oldest son, Stephen, who is very creative especially in the area of animation.
It has been scored for full orchestra with additional parts for Piano, Harp, and Vibraphone or Glockenspiel. There is also 2-part voice part (No lyrics - only Ahs!) Different instruments get to play the melody, which gets repeated 9 times, with various accompaniments and counter melodies, especially in the Horn line. Lament for Trombone and String Orchestra by composer Jeremy Niles Kempton is a serious and lyrical work of about 6 minutes in length for advanced performers.
The work was composed and performed within a 2 week period at a memorial concert given for Helen Manheim, a violist in Mr. Kempton's Island Chamber Symphony on Long Island, NY. Ms. Manheim died rather suddenly and her passing left the composer with a deep feeling of regret at having taken her and so many other ICS musicians for granted.
The composition consists of 3 lengthy phrases. The first epitomizes the grief at her passing. The 2nd presents her life and consists of 3 phrases, all starting the same but each striving higher. The final section is her legacy, what she leaves behind.
The live performance features Mr. Kempton as soloist with the Island Chamber Symphony.

There is also a version arranged for Cello and Orchestra. In October, 2014, after my most recent commission, the creative juices were still flowing, and I felt the urge to write a work for guitar and orchestra (which I had always wanted to do, partly inspired by the memories Pepe Romero's performances with my orchestra forty years earlier). Amazingly, within two days I had, except for a few minor corrections, a completed work. The result was the Rondo in A minor for Guitar and Orchestra, which I dedicated to my friend, Sir Pepe Romero, with the greatest respect and admiration. In December of 2014, I realized the work was easily accessible for either viola or cello and created versions of the piece for solo cello and orchestra, and also a version for solo viola and orchestra. The work is rondo-like in form, but does not strictly follow all the rules. The form of the work is a kind of a musical palindrome: A B A C A D A C A B A (including a cadenza in the final rondo statement). The presence of castanets gives the work a bit of a Spanish flair. The piece is scored for pairs of flutes, oboes, clarinets in A, bassoons, horns, and trumpets in C; with timpani, castanets, and strings (8,8,5,5,3). Parts for clarinets and trumpets in B-flat are included in the set for those orchestras lacking clarinets in A or trumpets in C.

Thierry Pélicant was born in 1957 at Sainte-Adresse, France. After studying the organ and the horn, his meeting with Jean-Claude Hartemann, the Musical Director of the Opéra Comique in Paris lead him to decide to explore conducting. He was the student of Haremann for fifteen years. He is the Musical Director of the André Messager Orchestre and has also directed the Orchestre Philharmonique de l’Oise since 1980, one of the oldest French orchestras, since it was founded in 1750. A passionate supporter of French music, Pélicant reconstructed the Messe solennelle of L.V.A Boïeldieu and Te Deum of 1792 by Philidor and premièred and recorded the Suite Parnassienne, Massenet’s last work. At the same time, he has also served the music of our time in premièring or recording the works of Dazzi, Marchand, Braconnier, Bénard, Drouin, Preschez, etc. As a composer, musical grammar and stylistic debates only interest him from afar. This is from a suite of pieces written variously for recorder orchestra and for chamber orchestra The five movements are: 1 Meinau Rag 2 An Amble round Mercury 3 Pretty How Town 4 Landscape before sunrise 5 Little Laser Lady Each movement has its own story and reflects various places where the composer has lived or poems that have inspired him: Meinau Rag was written in honour of his 8 month stay in La Meinau, a suburb of Strasbourg, while teaching English at the nearby Hotellery School - it was one of several ragtimes, a style he experimented with on the guitar at that time. An Amble round Mercury refers to the pond and associated statue of Mercury in the centre of Tom Quad at his college, Christ Church Oxford. The ostinato theme is one that he has used on many pieces and was originally written to accompany a setting from the Book of Elijah - and in that day thou shalt say O Lord - in his college days. Pretty How Town, a perky and rhythmically complex piece, is based on the poem - anyone lived in a pretty how town by e.e.cummings. The more laid back Landscape before sunrise is based on a setting of many ways in which the world says Goodnight and is inspired by the view from the composer's 18th floor flat in Aldgate East overlooking a multicultural population. The rhythms of the original song Goodnight follow the phrases in each language: Good Night, buona notte, gute Nacht, kali nykhta, oyasumi nasai, nos da...etc Little Laser Lady, an upbeat end to the suite, is based on a poem by a friend of the composer, whose girlfriend (and wife to be) would always visit him in her Laser (a make of car in Australia) (She is the sun in the afternoon, she is the night's familiar, she comes on a beam of yellow gold light......) The orchestration is: Piccolo [except in the 4th movement], 2 Flutes, 2 Oboes, Clarinet, Bassoon and string orchestra including double bass. The pdf file contains the score and separate parts. This was written by invitation to be played by the San Francisco Civic Symphony at a ground-breaking ceremony for restoration of a windmill in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. The original poem, set to music here was written by Lisa Yanover. It has been sung three times by John Kendall Bailey, once with orchestra, once with wind ensemble, and once with piano. To my knowledge the ceremony has yet to be held (as of January 2015). There are 3 offerings here at SheetMusicPlus. This one is for the orchestra score and parts, piano reduction, and baritone solo. Another, at $30 is for a wind ensemble substituting for the orchestra: score, parts, and baritone solo. The third is for piano reduction of the orchestra plus baritone solo at $5.00 Duration: 7 minutes Year: 2004.

This is from a suite of pieces written variously for recorder orchestra and for chamber orchestra The five movements are: 1 Meinau Rag 2 An Amble round Mercury 3 Pretty How Town 4 Landscape before sunrise 5 Little Laser Lady Each movement has its own story and reflects various places where the composer has lived or poems that have inspired him: Meinau Rag was written in honour of his 8 month stay in La Meinau, a suburb of Strasbourg, while teaching English at the nearby Hotellery School - it was one of several ragtimes, a style he experimented with on the guitar at that time. An Amble round Mercury refers to the pond and associated statue of Mercury in the centre of Tom Quad at his college, Christ Church Oxford. The ostinato theme is one that he has used on many pieces and was originally written to accompany a setting from the Book of Elijah - and in that day thou shalt say O Lord - in his college days. Pretty How Town, a perky and rhythmically complex piece, is based on the poem - anyone lived in a pretty how town by e.e.cummings. The more laid back Landscape before sunrise is based on a setting of many ways in which the world says Goodnight and is inspired by the view from the composer's 18th floor flat in Aldgate East overlooking a multicultural population. The rhythms of the original song Goodnight follow the phrases in each language: Good Night, buona notte, gute Nacht, kali nykhta, oyasumi nasai, nos da...etc Little Laser Lady, an upbeat end to the suite, is based on a poem by a friend of the composer, whose girlfriend (and wife to be) would always visit him in her Laser (a make of car in Australia) (She is the sun in the afternoon, she is the night's familiar, she comes on a beam of yellow gold light......) The orchestration is: 2 Flutes, 2 Oboes, Clarinet, Bassoon and string orchestra including double bass. The pdf file contains the score and separate parts. The sound sample is an electronic preview. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.532832). This work uses wordless-vocalize (singing on Ah, Oh or with the mouth closed, ad libitum). The vocal part is generally quite free, allowing the singer to express herself freely. The orchestration is for tymp/perc/vibra/hp/cel/harps/strings(minimum : 44222) Like a supple vine, the voice seems to unfold across the orchestra, with the warm expressive themes and shining strings, with the support of the harpsichord, the vibraphone and other percussion. Certainly, there is a coloristic note in the orchestral palette, but also a wish to combine the colors of the voice and the orchestra in different manners. Through this osmosis and through the tempo rubato suggested several times, by the absence of metronomic movements, the composer has tried to create music which breathes through freedom, suppleness and poetry, in the infinite spirals of beauty and love, outside of space and time.. The orchestral version of the work was recorded in 2014 with Isaure Equilez, mezzo-soprano and the National Polish Radio Orchestra under the direction of Paul Wehage The orchestral parts are available from the publisher on rental.
