Morris's beautiful hymn Nearer, Still Nearer. Arranged by Rebekah Lanier, this makes a beautiful and very accessible selection for church services, weddings, and other events. The melody instrument part is appropriate for violin, viola, flute, clarinet, oboe, etc.This arrangement has three verses; it begins in the key of Db major and modulates to Eb major for the third verse. The harp accompaniment is chords and gentle arpeggiation, with a few glissandos. There are some pedal changes, but never more than one per measure. The C instrument part ranges from Db above middle C to Eb an octave above middle C and follows the hymn's original melody.This arrangement may also be purchased for medium voice and pedal harp. This is a well known and well-loved Irish traditional tune. I played this at countless events. The first harp part is a complete solo part and the other two parts are optional. When playing as a duo one can choose the second or third part to play with the first. When a melody instrument plays the tune one can play the third part as an accompaniment. I always loved this in C but I will also upload this in the key of D.There are no lever changes and because the first part is quite high some smaller harps may be able to play this. The lowest note is C below middle C. Pianos can play this with different fingering.

The Black Hounds are a nocturnal apparition, and their appearance was regarded as a portent of death. They are supposed to hunt on specific nights in the autumn and winter when it is believed that the howling of these huge dogs foretold death to anyone who heard them. *************************************************About the Composer Laura Olson (ASCAP) is a retired California music educator with over 30 years of experience specializing in stringed instruments and orchestras. She holds a B.A. in Music Education and M.A. in Irish Traditional Music Performance (fiddle, flute, and harp). Her experience as a symphonic musician, ethnic musician, and Film/TV composer led her to combining the three aspects of music into her own compositions and arrangements; storybook music in cinematic style. She is the owner of her recording and publishing label Blue Steer Studios(ASCAP) which allows her to combine her composing skills with knowledge of both the business and publishing aspects of music industry. Winner of a Silver Ace Award from the Las Vegas Film Festival she has composed music for all types of media, including Film/TV, web and advertising, and her own personal music in audio CD and sheet music. Published by Lacy Reynolds (A0.896455). Nocturne in C-Sharp Minor, written originally for piano by Frederic Francois Chopin. He wrote this piece for his older sister as a practice piece before she started on one of his concertos. This was first published 26 years after Chopin's death. This piece has been re-arranged to be played on a Pedal Harp. A few changes had to be made since it is very difficult to play chromatic scales on the harp. This has been arranged to make those chromatic scales possible. This is a difficult piece to play, but all pedal changes are notated in the music and where they need to happen. Overall a very melancholy, but beautiful piece with a lot of dynamic expression. .

Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q15608). Sophia Giustani Dussek's opus 2 consists of two books of three sonatas each for the harp. The Sonata in C minor appears in the first book, published by Pleyel in Paris in 1796. In that book, the composer's first name was not mentioned, so the sonatas were falsely ascribed to Johann Ludwig Dussek, who was quite well known in Paris at that time (cf. RISM, D 4605). In the Thematic index of the works of J.L. Dussek by Howard Craw, opus 2 is given as a set of 4 violin sonatas. An edition of the harp sonatas published by Corri, Dussek and Co. in London and Edinburgh is ascribed to Sophia Dussek (cf. RISM, D 4649). The new edition of the sonata published by Schott has been corrected accordingly. The edition is part of the ABRSM syllabus and Trinity syllabus 2007 (grade 7).

This is the same arrangement as the other Ceapach Dainig, but in the key of C. If you do not have levers on your harp or your harp is not tuned to E-flat, you can still play this tune. Patrick W. Joyce more than likely only collected this tune and through his efforts we can still learn to play it today. If you want to learn a tune which is very Irish, but which is not very well known, try this one. .
