Published by DAVID LEE GINGRAS (A0.794131). After You've Gone is a 1918 popular song composed by Turner Layton with lyrics by Henry Creamer. It was recorded by Marion Harris on July 22, 1918, and released by Victor Records. The chorus adheres to a standard ABAC pattern but is only 20 measures long. There are four 4-bar phrases, followed by a 4 measure tag. The song is harmonically active, with chord changes almost every measure. This version features a root-based chord blocking that John and I have used in a number of our arrangements. We also added some pretty cool left-hand fills for your listening (playing?) pleasure - we hope you like what we've done to make this arrangement unique!

It starts with just a piano then you will hear the synth fade in with different sounds being used for the left and right hand parts. It then fades back to piano. Baker stated in an interview years later that neither could personally perform the entire song at the time they wrote it because of the emotions surrounding the Cuban Missile Crisis. You must realize there was a threat of nuclear war at the time.It was Bing Crosby who made the song a worldwide smash hit when he recorded his own version of Do You Hear What I Hear? in 1963, and over the years Crosby's recording of the song has received wide radio play, and been a cherished Christmas favorite.

Fred Rogers' sophisticated and lovable melody affords both young and old the chance to experience a jaunty interplay of triplets and swing eighths. Both parts of this duet sweep hand-over-hand to introduce the theme after which each player keeps close to Middle C position notes in single line melody or harmony. The primo takes the melody while the secondo provides bass. The secondo part includes a cue line to show the melody and lyrics. Both parts are included. Images of Family is a collection of six pieces for solo piano inspired by the scenes from the passage through an individual's life and the different roles they play as members of a family. The first movement, Toddler, begins with a single repeated note to simulate the ticking of a clock. As any parent of a toddler knows, when things are that quiet, it's time to go find out what that toddler is up to. The second movement, Dandelion Bouquet, celebrates the precious, intimate moments spent with a young child, representing a small bouquet of dandelions carefully picked and presented to the child's mother. The third movement, Loading the Car, portrays the chaos of a larger family trying to leave on a family vacation. Fourth is Newlywed, a celebration of the optimism and beauty seen through a newly married couple's eyes. The fifth movement, Afternoon in Grandpa's Meadow, looks at life through the eyes of the more experienced generation. And finally, the sixth movement, Journey Home, portrays the final moments of life, the goodbyes to family members on this side of death's door, and the joyous reunion with other family members who have already passed on from this life and await eagerly on the other side. We're all familiar with Willie Nelson's version which was included in his Stardust album and reached No. 3 on the Hot Country Songs chart in 1978 - we have patterned this version after the Willie Nelson cover. This arrangement features a root-based chord-blocking which we kind of morphed into a simple stride that's not too hard to play (like all of our arrangements). It sounds great as written, but make it yours if you so choose! John and I hope you like this one!
