This is a fabulous song by Pentatonix which I have arranged for four-part (SSAA) a cappella voices. It can be sung with or without the body percussion as I know it's sometimes difficult to do both at the same time!Whilst in the original Pentatonix song, Scott Hoying has most of the solos, I have arranged this so that all voices get the chance to sing the main melody. The bass part is not the most interesting(!) as the whole song is built over a repeating two-bar phrase (four chords). However, in this arrangment, I have managed to give them the main melody at bar 30 and at bar 61 they are the only voice-part to sing Mitch's parting tune - it's the basses' time to shine!I have two versions of this song available. The other version (Product Number 1356139) is closer to the original Pentatonix one. It is more rhythmic and slightly more difficult to sing, so if you like a challenge, then go and check out that one. But this version is equally enjoyable and will keep a smile on your face and your toes a tappin!!

A new Christmas carol by Philip Le Bas for unison voices (with occasional divisi) and piano, setting the words of William Blake's poem A Cradle Song from his collection entitled Songs of Innocence. The very title of Blake's poem calls out for it to be set to music. Indeed the poem is a straightforward lullaby for the first few stanzas, sung softly by a mother over her sleeping baby, as she marvels at the wonder of this beautiful infant and expresses her love for the child. Her own anxieties and weeping for the child remind her of the Christ-child who also wept as a vulnerable baby. But as God incarnate he wept for me, for thee, for all, and brought peace to heaven and earth. (Blake uses the word beguile perhaps to indicate the paradoxical nature of a weeping God bringing redemption to a suffering world by becoming a vulnerable human baby himself.) The composition aims to avoid unnecessary complexity in the vocal parts, so that it can be sung easily particularly by a parish choir. However, it also attempts to capture some of the beauty, drama and mystery of the scene expressed by Blake. The piece begins and ends in stillness, and there are gentle climaxes here and there, reflecting some of the rise and fall of the poem's lyrics. This is a fabulous song by Pentatonix which I have arranged for four-part (SSAA) a cappella voices, although sometimes the voice parts split. It can be sung with or without the body percussion as I know it's sometimes difficult to do both at the same time!Whilst in the original Pentatonix song, Scott Hoying has most of the solos, I have arranged this so that all voices get the chance to sing the main melody. The bass part is not the most interesting(!) as the whole song is built over a repeating two-bar phrase (four chords). However, in this arrangement, I have managed to give them the main melody at bar 30 and at bar 61 they are the only voice-part to sing Mitch's parting tune - it's the basses' time to shine!I have two versions of this song available. The other version (Product Number 1355563) is easier to sing. If you want a challenge, this is the version you should try! It's as close as I could get to the original.

These songs I chose because I like them, some I learnt from my first real guitar teacher, Dylan Todd, at the Guitar Centre in Palma de Mallorca in the late sixties when my family lived there; some from my father who was my other first guitar teacher; some down the years from other musicians. I have kept the accompaniments as simple as possible to go with my book The Art Of Accompaniment On The Guitar, most guitarists could handle them. I have also annotated everything, knowing the history of a song is important and as we increasingly lose the oral tradition I was brought up with the reason I chose certain verses and not others becomes relevant to that understanding. This is a simpler publication than the printed one available from Amazon. All of these songs are out of copyright, those that are in copyright that I would include and have arranged can be found individually through Sheet Music Plus or Sheet Music Direct.

This is the thirtieth-second of an extensive collection of folk songs arranged for the classical guitar mostly in two-part counterpoint. The arrangements are of moderate difficulty and the aims of this publication are to familiarise, entertain and educate guitarists (and other musicians) with a melodic repertoire of lasting aesthetic value, under the light of contrapuntal treatment. The thirty five volumes of this collection can certainly be printed on paper if so desired and there are a few pages in each volume, either blank or with photographs of various musicians, which can be inserted at will in any place for the correct ordering of left and right hand pages so that page turns can be avoided. The principle of avoiding page turns has been maintained in all  volumes, but this edition is also designed with mobile electronic devices in mind such as tablets etc, using the environment and facilities of a score reading application, towards a paperless world, at least in music.
