String Ensemble Cello,Double Bass,Viola,Violin - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1102450 Composed by Johann Pachelbel. Arranged by Mark Lansom. Baroque,Children,Classical,Film/TV,Instructional. Score and parts. 24 pages. Mark Lansom #705862. Published by Mark Lansom (A0.1102450). This arrangement was written for a school ensemble with violins at three distinct levels of ability. The first violin part is almost identical to the original, with occasional easing. The second violin part maintains as much of the original as possible too, but without having to leave first position. The third violin part was designed for players towards the end of their first year of lessons, and remains in first hand shape of tone-tone-semitone from each string. The cello part was adapted to avoid the slightly awkward F sharp stretch on the C string, which often leads young cellists out of tune. However, there is a second supplementary score and parts which use the original cello notes. Other supplementary parts include a fourth violin part which is all open strings, a viola part which doubles mostly second violin but sometimes first or third violin to stop the line leaving first position, and a double bass part. Minimum forces for a performance are the first three violin parts with at least one bass clef part (which could also of course be played on a keyboard). Inevitably, the piece loses its purity of being an actual canon of parts, but gains playability. It is almost as long as the original, but some cuts have been made, so it is inadvisable to add parts from other sources. Finally, the piece has been made much easier to read by being written in double time.

Small Ensemble B-Flat Clarinet,Double Bass,Flugelhorn,Flute,Piano Accompaniment,Tenor Trombone - Digital Download SKU: A0.502935 Composed by Antonio Carlos Jobim and Newton Mendonça. Arranged by Rubinho. Jazz,Standards. Score and parts. 40 pages. Published by Rubinho (A0.502935). Desafinado is a bossa nova song composed by Antônio Carlos Jobim (Tom Jobim) and Newton Mendonça and recorded by João Gilberto on November 10, 1958, at Estúdios Odeon , in Rio de Janeiro . The song would be released in February 1959 as a single by the EMI-Odeon record label and included on their debut album, Chega de Saudade , released in the second week of March of that year. It is considered one of the seminal songs in the musical style and one that best defines the genre. The song is a response to criticism at the time, which considered bossa nova as music for out-of-tune singers. The song was later recorded by several artists, including Antônio Carlos Jobim , Herb Alpert , Nara Leão , Ella Fitzgerald and Stan Getz who, in 1963, won the Grammy for Best Jazz Performance by a Soloist or Small Group for the song. Two English-language adaptations of the song were performed: Slightly Out of Tune by Jon Hendricks and Off Key by Gene Lees. This arrangment is for 01 Flute, 01 Bb Clarinet, 01 Flugelhorn, 01 Trombone, Accompaniment Chords and Acoustic Bass.

Piano Trio,String Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1023021 Composed by Jonathan Wilson. Concert,Folk,Holiday,Jazz,Wedding. Score and parts. 26 pages. Fresh Air #4360871. Published by Fresh Air (A0.1023021). This is the piano trio arrangement of the Phoenix Waltz which was originally written to celebrate all of the musicians who played in the legendary Auchterby Band and the numerous musical line-ups born out of the ashes of that band. The Auchterby Band was a ceilidh band based in Aberdeen, Scotland which usually played fast and furious folky music for Scottish dancing at weddings, parties and various drunken events. The Phoenix Waltz is not actually particularly folky or Scottish in style (more like Jazz) but, nevertheless, works well as a last waltz of the evening. I arranged it for Piano, Violin and Cello for a fundraising concert to raise money for a new piano for our village hall and managed to rope in a couple of fantastic young musicians, through my piano teacher, to compensate for my mediocre piano playing. The piano, at that point, was borrowed and very out of tune, but the concert itself was totally unique and very special. I have included a recording from the concert which I hope you like. On listening to it I feel it is slightly rushed (I was nervous) so relax, take it easy and let it breathe!

Guitar Ensemble - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1455746 By The Beatles. By John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Arranged by Derek Hasted. Pop. Score and Parts. 16 pages. Derek Hasted #1034844. Published by Derek Hasted (A0.1455746). THE FOOL ON THE HILL - GUITAR QUARTET/large ensembleFor Classical or Acoustic GuitarDerek Hasted writes I’ve arranged this Beatles classic to suit players who have only recently started out learning to play guitar. It’s a lovely tune and it’s ideal both for school concerts and as a gentle interlude in an adult ensemble concert.Although Guitar 1 ventures out of first position, it doesn’t go high up the neck. I’ve not fingered this part - different players might decide to stay up the neck, or just go up the neck for the few high notes.Everything else is first position, and easy to play. There is an optional repeat to extend the piece a little. The two verses in each part have slightly different accompaniments to add interest for players and audience alike.Guitar 4 is in both treble and bass clefs - you can play either part (or in a large ensemble, it’s fine to have both versions playing).I hope you enjoy playing this piece! This is one of a large and growing range of accessible ensembles from experienced arranger Derek Hasted, and is supplied as full score and parts. Derek's website at www.derek-hasted.co.uk/smp lists all his arrangements by title and by number of instruments, with links to soundclips and sample score.

Guitar Ensemble Guitar - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.797741 Composed by Josef Ivanovici. Arranged by Derek Hasted. Romantic Period. Score and parts. 21 pages. Derek Hasted #4363453. Published by Derek Hasted (A0.797741). THE DANUBE WAVES - for THREE GUITARS or LARGE ENSEMBLEFor Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar.Derek Hasted writes This isn’t just one little Waltz - the original work was, in fact, 4 Waltzes played end to end. The first one is perhaps the most famous, but the others are charming too. Here we have all four plus an introduction too.My guitar trio arrangement is based on a facsimile of an original piano reduction with extra countermelodies to thicken the texture. This composition has been arranged by many people to be played on piano or by full orchestra, and quite often one or more of the waltzes is omitted, or they are played in a different order or a different number of times. It’s fair to say there are probably a dozen variants! More than that, each arranger seems to take it upon themselves to write an introduction. In keeping with that tradition, I have penned an introduction too... it’s a mysterious, slightly slow, statement of the first theme, which, as the first Waltz starts, comes alive at tempo. In this particular arrangement, I’ve made sure everyone has the tune at some point - with about five minutes of music here, it’s not right that some parts are in the limelight and others aren’t - music is for sharing! At phrase boundaries, the roles of tune, countermelody and accompaniment all move round. In concert, one might consider omitting one of the Waltzes if time is at a premium.

It will need at least a 1st section band to handle the last movement. This might be a good piece to use in an entertainments contest. There is quite a bit for the percussion to do which took some doing as the original had none. The four movements represent my thoughts about Canada and its people. 1. March for the Frontiersmen: Canada has a lot of wilderness that has not been spoiled by man. This movement represents the rugged frontiersmen pushing through the Canadian forests. 2. The Great White Cold: I imagined the bitter freezing cold and icy beauty of Canadian winters (not that I have ever experienced such) and I used some slightly unusual techniques to create the impression of a cold wind blowing across the arctic scenery. 3. Campfire Songs: I had this vision of the great outdoors with Canadian families going camping in the mountainous regions sitting round their campfire at night and singing songs. I had no idea at the time whether Canadians were campfire songsters or what kinds of songs they might choose, so I selected a number of ’folk’ songs from the Great Canadian Tune Book and incorporated them into this movement. 4. The New Found Land: This movement moves to Canada’s eastern seaboard and I imagined new emigrants to the country arriving at a busy harbour and seeing all the hustle and bustle of a lively community and sea port. With some difficulty the debarkees find their land legs but then become absorbed in the lively new world to which they have moved.

Arranged by Alastair Lodge. Early Music,Folk,Historic,Medieval,Renaissance. 50 pages. Wold Meridian #733808. Published by Wold Meridian (A0.1133711). This is a companion to my earlier volume Chording to the Dance Masters which presented 44 of my favourite Renaissance Dance band tunes and arranged them as a single melody line with chords derived from the original harmony lines. In this volume I have reunited 22 of the pieces with the lower parts in the score, so that with more collaborators, the fullness of the original arrangement can be heard. The chords are still present, so if the ensemble is short handed, and lines are missing, the arrangements will still work. What is more, by contrasting the melody and chords with the full scoring, it should be possible to work some light and shade into performances. You can hear all the pieces and their chords on YouTube together with contemporary art and historical background material:https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYRWH2nycMkMoIoEYEMVPa_EXY6NVDpNSAs a help to those less confident in playing harmony lines, I have provided links to playlists of videos online for each part of each piece. You will hear the selected line on its own with chords and percussion, with the melody line added on repeats. The final repeat includes the other harmony lines, but the featured line is slightly louder in the mix. The performance starts with a percussion beat introduction to set the tempo.Who were the Publishers and the Dance Masters? What did they do? Sometime around the 1500s, the popularity of dance music exploded in Europe. Dance Masters were collecting chansons and dance tunes from courts and rural parts and were teaching these to new audiences, spreading their arrangements and reflecting the performance styles of the areas from which they had collected the tunes. Publishers were able to take these tunes that were becoming known across the regions and nations and spread them even more widely, thanks to technological innovations in music printing which made it quicker and therefore cheaper to produce collections of these dances in four or more parts. These publishers were often highly accomplished composers in their own right, who were both able to provide distinctive harmony lines and compose new tunes in the style of their sources, feeding the courts with enduring tunes. Composers and printers of this time would often use note values that are double the length of those we would be used to seeing today, and so to make this version more readable, breves have become semibreves or whole notes, semibreves have become minims or half notes and so on. Working with this publication For those just starting out in Early Music, the volume is an ideal introduction, since the ensemble can build from a soloist with accompaniment with the chords alone, and parts can be added in as additional musicians become available. Instrumentation for these pieces was not specified in the original prints. The range of each part is quite limited, and though the harmonies may seem strange at times, key signatures are kind to the less experienced musician. If enthusiasm takes hold, then reproductions of early music instruments are sold by some very talented makers, as well as coming up on auction sites. Otherwise, it is possible to put together a fairly convincing ensemble with recorders, violins, a cello and mandolins, bouzoukis, flutes or guitars and gradually introduce the authentic instruments as they become available.

Hip-Hop Arrangement by Tito Abeleda (1964- ) Score plus parts, 20 pages. Published by Visionary Quest Records. Accompaniment also available on MP3. The MP3 audio accompaniment is a HD CD Quality accompaniment track recorded at 320 kbps. It contains 2 tracks on the 1 track. The longer version provides enough music for repeat of the song and additional measures for vamp to adapt your needs. The shorter version is a seamless loop, again provided to your needs.Jingle Bells originally composed by James Lord Pierpont in 1857 was published as One Horse Open Sleigh intended for Thanksgiving holiday. This arrangement modifies this public domain piece with instrumentation and genre. It has been arranged as a hip-hop rap solo with clean slightly modified original lyrics to give an authentic hip-hop urban feel. This is an easy and should provide some refreshing fun for intermediate students. The instrumentation is purely percussion. If a teachers has a particularly cool musical student with some swag and performance quality, this would be an excellent feature. But choral groups of all sizes and levels can enjoy this pieced. The percussion includes conga drums, tom-toms, sleigh bells, and studio drum set or comparable. Beatboxing the percussion would add a nice challenge and flavor for your choral groups. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #3031747. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533618). Dark December: Ignis Dei (2002) was commissioned by Maurice and Amy Katz and was written forand is dedicated to Non Sequitur. It is scored for flute, clarinet, violin, cello, vibraphone, and piano, andis subtitled “processional doubles for mixed sextet.†(The word “doubles†is used in the old sense of“variations.â€)The source material for the composition is the composer's original hymn tune DOLMEN CREEK(2002), whose text by Margaret Clarkson (Burn in Me, Fire of God) provides the Ignis Dei of thetitle and poetic conception. The poetic conception is one of an emergence of a single inner flame, amida dark landscape. The tune is never heard in its full or straightforward form – instead it is always heard in fragment ortransformation. Its formal structure also provides the dimensions and structures of the four sections.Formally, the work is cast in a single movement as a series of three processionals plus a finalglorification-postlude. The conception of the work is ritualistic in tone, and pushes forward towardsthe end.The opening processional (for the entire sextet) is very slow and distant and sets out transformations ofthe hymn tune in its most abstruse form. The second processional (for violin, cello, and vibraphone) isslightly faster and features an active and independent vibraphone part over a cortege in the two strings. The third processional (for flute, clarinet, and piano) is quick and nimble as gestures and material arepassed between the two winds, and the piano provides commentary and allusions. In this processional, afragment of the hymn is heard in its most clear form. The final glorification-postlude brings the entireensemble together again in a vibrant coda of busy activity.Carson

Guitar,Instrumental Duet,Tenor Saxophone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1277982 By Dire Straits. By Mark Knopfler. Arranged by Derek Hasted. Film/TV,Pop. 16 pages. Derek Hasted #869685. Published by Derek Hasted (A0.1277982). LOCAL HERO - WILD THEME - TENOR SAX and GUITAR DUETSuits Classical, Acoustic or Electric GuitarDerek Hasted writes Rightly described as an astonishingly beautiful piece, this music from the film Local Hero actually features twice on the soundtrack album, in different keys with different solo instruments. My arrangement for Tenor Sax and Classical Guitar exploits the sustain of the sax and the soft tones of nylon strings and works well at a slightly more modest pace compared to the original. I’ve taken the theme from the closing soundtrack version, where the melody is clear and powerful. My arrangement includes one or two little bits of Mark Knopfler’s quasi-improvised variations on the tune. Note that the guitar part is played with a Capo on the first fret so that both players can enjoy an accessible key signature. The guitar part goes up the neck, and the position numbers are relative to the Capo (ie one fret higher than if there was no Capo fitted). There are two arrangements here - one in the husky low register of the sax, to suit a less experienced player, and one an octave higher that has a few challenging notes at the top, but sings out in a gloriously powerful way. The sound clip on the SheetMusicPlus website has a little of both arrangements. There are no dynamics, but the changing texture of the accompaniment creates the illusion of dynamic changes and you are welcome to add phrasing and dynamics to make the performance “yoursâ€.The guitar part is a little challenging at speed but this will suit confident intermediate players. This enjoyable concert item has a wonderfully captivating melody that the audience will be humming all the way home...I hope you enjoy playing this piece! This is one of a large and growing range of accessible ensembles from experienced arranger Derek Hasted, and is supplied as full score and parts. Derek's website at www.derek-hasted.co.uk/smp lists all his arrangements by title and by number of instruments, with links to soundclips and sample score.

Score and parts. 7 pages. Regis Bookshar #6635865. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813972). String Quintet - Intermediate - Digital Download. This arrangement of Silent Night, or in German, Stille Nacht, would be a wonderful addition to any music library and could be performed for Christmas concerts, recitals, and, especially, church services. It is equally suitable for junior and senior high school students and even older musicians. Depending on their ability, younger musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (7 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time.Silent Night is probably the most popular Christmas carol ever written. It was composed in 1818 by Franz Xaver Gruber to lyrics by Joseph Mohr and was first performed on Christmas Eve at St. Nicholas parish church in Oberndorf, a small village in present-day Austria. A young Catholic priest, Father Joseph Mohr, had written the poem, Stille Nacht, in 1816 and had gone to Oberndorf in 1817. The melody was composed by Franz Xaver Gruber, schoolmaster and organist in the nearby village of Arnsdorf. On Christmas Eve, 1818, Mohr brought the words to Gruber and asked him to compose a melody and guitar accompaniment for that night's mass, after river flooding had possibly damaged the church organ. The church was eventually destroyed by repeated flooding and has since been replaced with the Silent-Night-Chapel.According to Gruber, Karl Mauracher, an organ builder who serviced the instrument at the Oberndorf church, was enamored with the song, and took the composition home with him to the Ziller Valley in Tyrol, Austria. From there, two traveling families of folk singers, the Strassers and the Rainers, included the tune in their shows. The Rainers were already singing it around Christmas, 1819, and once performed it for an audience that included Franz I of Austria and Alexander I of Russia. They also gave the first performance of the song in the United States in New York City in 1839. By the 1840's, the song was well known and was reported to be a favorite of Frederick William IV of Prussia. During this period, the melody changed slightly to become the version that is commonly heard today. The version of the melody that is generally used today is a slow, meditative lullaby, or pastoral, differing slightly from Gruber's original which has a moderate tempo. The song has been translated into about 140 languages and has been recorded by many singers across many music genres. The version sung by Bing Crosby in 1935, has sold over 10 million copies as a single. In this arrangement of Silent Night, Regis Bookshar has kept the basic form of this familiar Christmas carol, but has also included a descant during the third verse. Also, in addition to this version for a String Quintet, consisting of 2 Violins, 1 Viola and 2 Violoncellos, there are other arrangements of Silent Night available for a variety of instrumental ensembles. There are Quintets and Octets readily available for purchase. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may find something else that might also suit your needs.I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a wide variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I'm certain that this wonderful arrangement of Silent Night will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.

Score and parts. 12 pages. Regis Bookshar #6636623. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.814534). Brass Octet - Intermediate - Digital Download. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (12 pages). Also, in addition to this version for a Brass Octet, consisting of 4 Trumpets and 4 Trombones, there are other arrangements of Silent Night available for a variety of instrumental ensembles. There are Quintets and Octets readily available for purchase. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition.
