This song is from the album "Christmas Portrait" by The Carpenters. The song appeals to my classical side, and it exudes happiness and goodwill. It is a simple and catchy tune, and one that I hope you and your audience will enjoy tremendously!
Scored for piccolo, 3 C flutes, alto, bass & contrabass. There is an optional cello part that can also be played by any instrument in a similar bass clef range - to add oomph to the bass line. This is for musicians with advanced-intermediate musical skills.

This marvelous arrangement of the March from Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky's extremely popular, The Nutcracker Suite, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts and recitals but would be most appropriate during the Holiday season. This selection has been arranged to keep all of the intensity and excitement of the original composition and is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (43 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time.The Nutcracker is an 1892 two-act ballet with a score by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. It has enjoyed enormous popularity since the late 1960's and is performed by countless ballet companies, primarily during the Christmas season, especially in North America. Tchaikovsky's score has become one of his most famous compositions. Some critics have called it astonishingly rich in detailed inspiration and from beginning to end, beautiful, melodious, original and characteristic. The ballet's first complete performance outside Russia took place in England in 1934. The first complete United States performance was on December 24, 1944, by the San Francisco Ballet. It was such an enormous success that the San Francisco Ballet has presented The Nutcracker every Christmas Eve and throughout the winter season, debuting new productions in 1944, 1954, 1967 and 2004. In Salt Lake City, it has been performed every year since 1963. The New York City Ballet gave its first annual performance in 1954. In addition to annual live stagings of the work, many productions have also been televised or released on home video.The Nutcracker continues to be one of Tchaikovsky's most popular compositions and contains some of his most memorable works. Tchaikovsky made a selection of eight of the numbers from the ballet before the ballet's December 1892 premiere, forming The Nutcracker Suite, Op. 71a, and is intended for concert performance. The suite was first performed, under the composer's direction, on March 19, 1892. The suite became instantly popular with almost every number encored at its premiere.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could also have the opportunity to play some of these wonderful compositions, originally scored for a full orchestra, and has arranged two of the selections, the popular March and the Russian Dance for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. So, in addition to this version of the March for a Flute Octet, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection for various Quintets and Octets and are readily available. If you should decide to purchase this arrangement of the March, I would highly encourage you to also consider purchasing the arrangement of the Russian Dance as well. Scheduling the March followed by the Russian Dance would be a very satisfying addition to any concert or recital. Please take the time to look for other versions of these compositions. You may find something else that might also suit your needs.I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as there are numerous selections in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. This marvelous arrangement of the Russian Dance from Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky's extremely popular, The Nutcracker Suite, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts and recitals but would be most appropriate during the Holiday season. This selection has been arranged to keep all of the intensity and excitement of the original composition and is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (15 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time.The Nutcracker is an 1892 two-act ballet with a score by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. It has enjoyed enormous popularity since the late 1960's and is performed by countless ballet companies, primarily during the Christmas season, especially in North America. Tchaikovsky's score has become one of his most famous compositions. Some critics have called it astonishingly rich in detailed inspiration and from beginning to end, beautiful, melodious, original and characteristic. The ballet's first complete performance outside Russia took place in England in 1934. The first complete United States performance was on December 24, 1944, by the San Francisco Ballet. It was such an enormous success that the San Francisco Ballet has presented The Nutcracker every Christmas Eve and throughout the winter season, debuting new productions in 1944, 1954, 1967 and 2004. In Salt Lake City, it has been performed every year since 1963. The New York City Ballet gave its first annual performance in 1954. In addition to annual live stagings of the work, many productions have also been televised or released on home video.The Nutcracker continues to be one of Tchaikovsky's most popular compositions and contains some of his most memorable works. Tchaikovsky made a selection of eight of the numbers from the ballet before the ballet's December 1892 premiere, forming The Nutcracker Suite, Op. 71a, and is intended for concert performance. The suite was first performed, under the composer's direction, on March 19, 1892. The suite became instantly popular with almost every number encored at its premiere.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could also have the opportunity to play some of these wonderful compositions, originally scored for a full orchestra, and has arranged two of the selections, the popular March and the Russian Dance, one of the character dances, based on the Russian and Ukrainian folk dance, Trepak, for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. So, in addition to this version of the Russian Dance, for a Flute Octet, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection for various Quintets and Octets and are readily available. If you should decide to purchase this arrangement of the Russian Dance, I would highly encourage you to also consider purchasing the arrangement of the March as well. Scheduling the March followed by the Russian Dance would be a very satisfying addition to any concert or recital. Please take the time to look for other versions of these compositions. Thanksgiving is one of the most beautiful of holidays, a holiday filled with joy and music. We Gather Together to Ask the Lord's Blessing: Written in 1597 by Dutch composer Adrianus Valerius to celebrate Holland's victory over Spain, the tune was brought to American shores by the early Dutch settlers. Poet Theodore Baker wrote a new version of the lyrics in 1894, which became the standard Thanksgiving version. Over the River and Through the Wood: Lydia Maria Child, an outspoken abolitionist and advocate for Indian rights, wrote this poem in 1845. It was set to music by an unknown composer. Let All Things Now Living (The Ash Grove) This traditional Welsh melody (Llwyn Onn or The Ash Grove in Welsh) has inspired numerous lyricists to write words to the hauntingly beautiful tune. The poem by Katherine Davis, written in 1939, is the text most associated with Thanksgiving. Amazing Grace: Written by reprobate sailor John Newton in 1779. Known for his profanity, vulgarity and venery, he was imprisoned, beaten, and enslaved, before he reformed, and became a leading minister and hymn-writer. This is one of the most popular hymns ever written. This Land is Your Land: A traditional American tune, made famous by folksinger Woody Guthrie in 1940. Guthrie wrote the words as a rebuff to the song God Bless America, the huge hit by songwriter Irving Berlin. As a counter to Berlin's drum-beating patriotism, Guthrie would occasionally add politically charged verses expressing his support for communism. I hope you enjoy playing this as much as I enjoyed writing it. The song has been an international hit. This arrangement is just so that people who love the song can play it.  I will admit that it is repetitious, but it's just a catchy tune! Scored for flute choir - 3 C, alto, bass, and contrabass flutes. If your choir doesn't have a contrabass, then it can be substituted by another bass, or any C instrument in a similar range, but it is a part that needs to be covered, as it has important (but quite simple bass lines).  There is an optional upright string bass part that doubles the contrabass an octave below.   There are 2 body percussion parts that are quite simple, but particularly important.  It's a stomp and clap (or snap).  You could also use 2 different drums, buckets, etc.  Substitute a low pitch for the stomp and a higher one for the clap. Duration: 3 minutes.

After the introduction a Circus- type Waltz begins, when this is repeated it has a very haunting counter melody which is both lilting and lyrical. As the piece develops, an out of character playful Scherzo theme begins which adds some intensity and mystery surrounding the Midnight Carousel. Both Waltz and Scherzo themes exchange dialogue throughout this section as if wanting some sort of control, when suddenly two accents appear to signify a halt We then return to the opening theme once more to lead us to a finish. Before the conclusion however, the Scherzo theme re-instates it's ideas before the final bars!The whole score is on the youtube link for you to assess suitability- It has been set to intermediate level as the range is around 2 octaves with some parts less than this. This arrangement of the Allegro movement from Henry Purcell's Sonata for Trumpet would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services. It is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. This selection is one of the arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library, many of which are being made available for the first time. They have performed the Trumpet Quintet version of this composition quite often for numerous weddings and other special occasions. The original composition was written in D Major but Regis Bookshar has transposed it to Bb Major, making it a little easier for many modern musicians. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (13 pages). The 17th century composer, Henry Purcell, is generally considered to be one of the greatest English composers of his generation. His Sonata for Trumpet and Strings in D Major, composed in 1694, was probably written for the London Theatre, where a fine tradition of trumpet playing had developed. Purcell almost certainly had in mind either John Shore or his brother, William, the most renowned trumpet players in England at the time. The trumpets of the time were normally tuned in D and there were no valves on the Baroque trumpets, so they were limited in the number of notes that they could play. The term Sonata here probably means no more than a piece of incidental music and looks forward to the style that would become the solo concerto where soloist and strings are pitted against each other but also looks back to an older type of instrumental music which emphasized equality between members of the ensemble. The music is in three movements and looks forward to the fast-slow-fast plan popularized by Vivaldi's concertos. Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists, besides trumpet players, could also have the opportunity to play the Allegro movement from Purcell's Sonata for Trumpet, so he has created other arrangements of this selection. This particular arrangement is for a Flute Octet, consisting of 8 Flutes, but there are Quintets, Sextets, Septets and Octets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this piece. You may find something else that may suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a wide variety of styles also available for purchase. The piano reduction is nice, but what if you want to play it as a soloist with more players?This flute choir arrangement of the Hue Fantaisie is an excellent option. You can use the authentic flute part or the edited version from the arrangement, and both will work with the flute choir parts.You'll get a score as well as a set of parts to print and use with your ensemble. Walt Disney’s movie, Disenchanted, is the long-awaited sequel to Enchanted.  Alan Menken, one of my favorite composers, wrote the music for it, and it certainly did not disappoint the audience.Fairytale Life (The Wish) is the first part of the two-part song, sung by Giselle (Amy Adams).  Things aren’t quite fairytale-ish, and living happily ever after seemed to have been just temporary.  At the end of the song, Giselle realizes that if she wants happiness, she is responsible for making it happen.This piece is scored for 4 C, alto, bass, and contrabass flutes.  There is an optional cello part that doubles the contrabass, and can be played by any other C instrument in the same range.  It is suited for musicians with intermediate skill.Duration: 3.5 minutes.
