It is a great jig for beginners and experts alike.History: The title of this jig refers to the fair of the same name that was held in Donnybrook, Dublin. The fair was held from the 13th century up until the 1850’s and is also a slang term for a brawl or riot. In 1204, a license was granted to the corporation of Dublin by King John of England to hold an annual eight-day fair in Donnybrook. In 1252, the duration of the fair was extended to fifteen days. Over the subsequent centuries, the terms of holding the fair continued to change until it was decided in the 18th century that the fair would be held on the 26th of August on Donnybrook Green for a full fortnight. It is a great jig for beginners and experts alike.History: The Cliffs of Moher are a series of sea cliffs in the Burren region of County Clare, Ireland. The cliffs are named after an old promontory fort known as Morthar or Moher that was positioned at the southernmost point of the coastline. The fort was demolished in 1808 to provide material for a new lookout tower to provide warning of a French invasion during the Napoleonic wars. The cliffs are now one of Ireland’s top tourist attractions, with over one and half million people visiting annually. It is a great jig for beginners and experts alike.History: This jig’s title refers to those who visit The Blarney Stone, a piece of limestone built into the walls of Blarney Castle, near Cork, Ireland. Kissing the stone is said to endow the kisser with great eloquence. According to legend, Cormac Laidir MacCarthy (the builder of Blarney Castle), appealed to the Irish goddess ClÃodhna for assistance with a lawsuit. She told MacCarthy to kiss the first stone he saw on his way to the courthouse, which he did. MacCarthy then plead his case with great eloquence and won. Thus, The Blarney Stone is said to impart the ability to deceive without offending.
