Euphonium,Low Brass Quintet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1308306 Composed by James Lord Pierpont. Arranged by Ander. Children,Christmas. 35 pages. Woods Only, Arrangements #897545. Published by Woods Only, Arrangements (A0.1308306). Are you looking for a fun and creative way to play Jingle Bells, the famous Christmas song? Then you will love this arrangement for Tuba Quintet, which explores the theme in different styles, from waltz to samba. In this arrangement, you will find a slow and gentle opening, which introduces the theme of the melody with delicacy and elegance, followed by a cheerful and lively version, which follows the original version of the song, with striking rhythm and simple harmony. Then, you will be charmed by a waltz version, which gives a different charm to the music, with smooth and graceful movements, and be infected by a samba version, which brings a Brazilian touch to the music, with dancing beat and elements of the samba root. Next, you will be moved by a sad and melancholic version, in minor tone, which shows a touching side of the music, with expressiveness and sensitivity. Finally, you will have fun with a return of the cheerful version, which explores the theme in different tones, with solos divided among all the voices of the arrangement, creating an impression of jumping party. This arrangement is ideal for Christmas parties, in chamber music groups, and can be used in recitals and concerts, inside or outside the academy. It is a different and innovative way to perform this beautiful music, which will surprise and delight your audience. Do not miss this opportunity to acquire this exclusive and fun arrangement of Jingle bells in Different Styles!

Arranged by Rob Bushnell. 19th Century,20th Century,Classical,Opera,Romantic Period. Brass Band. 54 pages. Rob Bushnell #1086082. Published by Rob Bushnell (A0.1510871). Tosca is an opera in three acts by the Italian composer Giacomo Puccini. The opera is set in June 1800 in Rome, and tells the story of the Kingdom of Naples and the threat to its control of Rome by Napoleon’s invasion of Italy. Some of Puccini’s best-known arias can be found in Tosca. The opera is based on Victorien Sardou’s dramatic play of the same name (La Tosca). Puccini saw the play at least twice in 1889 and begged his publisher, Giulio Ricordi, to obtain the rights to turn it into an opera, which were secured in 1891 – although Puccini relinquished the rights to Alberto Franchetti before being recommissioned in 1895. Puccini wrote “I see in this Tosca the opera I need, with no overblown proportions, no elaborate spectacle, nor will it call for the usual excessive amount of music.” It took 4 years to write, with Puccini arguing with his librettists (Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa) and his publisher. Although the first performance was delayed by a day due to the unrest in Rome at the time, the opera was premiered on 14 January 1900 at the Teatro Costanzi in Rome. The critics reviews were indifferent, but it was an immediate success with the public. The opera is through-composed, with the different musical elements weaved from piece to piece. Puccini used the Wagner’s leitmotif concept to identity different parts of the opera.Taken from Act 3, E lucevan le stelle is sung by Cavaradossi, a painter, who has fallen for the singer Tosca. The corrupt Chief of Police, Baron Scarpia, longs for Tosca himself and, upon suspecting Cavaradossi of helping a political prisoner escape, he takes the opportunity to get rid of Cavaradossi and blackmail Tosca into being with him. The guards lead Cavaradossi to the roof of Castel Sant'Angelo, where he is told he has 1 hour to live before being executed. He asks to write a letter to Tosca, overcome by memories, he sings E lucevan le stelle (And the starts shone). It was selected by the tenor Wynne Evans as one of the most romantic songs for his top ten arias for Classic FM. He described it as “another tenor classic, both tragic and beautiful.”This arrangement is for the UK-style brass band, with alternative parts for horns in F and bass-clef lower brass. A recording of the original song can be found on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EAqHQMX7GHY.Other searchable terms: Luciano Pavarotti.

Bass Flute,Instrumental Solo,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549474 Composed by Alexander Scriabin. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Concert,Instructional,Romantic Period,Sacred,Standards. Score and individual part. 12 pages. Jmsgu3 #3499839. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549474). Score: 8 pages, solo part: 2 pages, piano part: 2 pages. Duration: 3:10. An introspective and meditative work with a lot of dynamic and phrasing nuance. Works well for church meditations or recital encores. Background Op.11/2 Alto Clarinet version. First of all, Scriabin composed mostly for the solo piano and also the orchestra. This is probably because he was a gifted pianist and therefore certainly appreciated the piano. Scriabin grew up in the late Romantic period, consequently, he was fond of the great piano masters of the time. As a result, he wrote his first noteworthy compositions in the manner of Chopin and Liszt. Forms Likewise, Scriabin used many of the same forms as Chopin. These certainly include the étude, prelude, nocturne, and even the mazurka. In contrast, as he developed his own sense of style his music became more and more unusual. So, the last five of his Piano Sonatas do not have a key signature and therefore lean towards atonality. Philosophy Scriabin also developed a keen interest in philosophy and likewise poetry. He was above all particularly fascinated by Nietzsche, Delville, and Blavatsky. Consequently, he finally established his own ideas about metaphysics and certainly mysticism. Scriabin consequently advanced theories about the relationship between color and musical keys. Synesthesia He also may have experienced a condition called synesthesia where he could probably sense a response created from a different stimulus. Therefore, it was almost as if he could see music and hear colors. Scriabin, therefore, arranged the colors in a circle similar to the circle-of-fifths and assigned each key area a color. Finally, he assigned the key of C to the color red, while the key of G was orange. Similarly, he assigned D to yellow, A to green, and so forth. Strangely, he did not differentiate between major and minor key colors. Multimedia Hence, his ability to translate colors into music certainly gave Scriabin a most noteworthy interest in creating multimedia events. Furthermore, He designed his biggest work, the Mysterium, to last an entire week. Even more, Scriabin made plans not only for music, but also colored lights, incense, and dancing. He designed the performance to occur in the foothills of the Himalaya mountains. The Mysterium was never performed, and only sketches of the work remain. Modern Performances In modern times, we often experience performances of Scriabin’s most famous completed works accompanied by colored laser lights and incense. These are the Poem of Ecstasy (completed in 1908) and the Poem of Fire (completed in 1910). The lighting effects for these early performances were accomplished by the clavier à lumiéres. It was a keyboard instrument that projected colored light onto a screen.

Instrumental Solo,Oboe d'Amore,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549471 Composed by Alexander Scriabin. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Concert,Instructional,Romantic Period,Sacred,Standards. Score and individual part. 12 pages. Jmsgu3 #3499775. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549471). Donuts, if you make a mistake! The initial incarnation of these studies were written for trombone quartet and we would play them in the Tennessee Tech Trombone Choir with the challenge that whomever made the first mistake had to buy donuts for the rest of the ensemble. Since then I have brought that version to several clinics and warm up sessions. One time before I got to explain the title, a fellow trombone professor said, Oh, I get it! Don’t step in the holes!I only wish I had thought of that myself... Since we have one of the best donut shops in TN here in Cookeville, treating the studio to sugar coated goodies was always my intent. As with those initial exercises, you can vary these as much as you’d like.· Choose a tempo.· Choose a dynamic.· Choose an articulation/style.One way I like to play these is to have one person be the model, playing the entire scale over and over while everyone else plays the fragmented versions. That helps everyone to keep on track and stay in time. Double or triple up the parts for ensemble cohesion with a larger group.Practice one key, gradually speeding it up to improve fluidity, or choose a variation and take it through all keys, playing version A, B, C, or D then skipping to play the same set in a new key.If you want an additional challenge, play them in different octaves or change the key. Play the F Major set in f minor (all forms), different modes, etc. Players really have to be on their toes to remember if they are playing melodic minor in the ascending or descending form! For jazz players, try swinging them in dorian or mixolydian modes. The variations are endless! If you are using these with transposing instruments, 1) is F Major in Concert Pitch, 2) is Bb Major in Concert pitch, and so on. When you reach a scale that is enharmonic for another key (Db/C#, Gb/F#, or Cb/B), they are presented in both keys for each instrument so Trumpets can play in Eb while the Flutes are playing in C# with similar examples for all keys. All Donut Etudes with the same volume number are compatible so you can play them in mixed quartets or large ensembles with one or more instruments/people on part 1 and a different instrument on part 2, etc. Since the quartets are all identical, conductors/coaches can use any of the scores to tell which part should be playing at what time. Once you have played a scale with one set of parts, everyone can rotate to a different part and play the same scales again!Enjoy!

2 Fl. 1 Ob. 1 Ob dbl CA. 2 Cl in Bb. 2 Hn in F. 2 Bsn. - Intermediate - Digital Download SKU: F2.FM611 Composed by Liz Sharma. A wind dectet written in Indian Ragas. Score and parts. 30 pages. Forton Music - Digital #FM611. Published by Forton Music - Digital (F2.FM611). ISBN 9790570485109.'Ragmala' (meaning 'A garland of ragas) concerns the passing of a day, and is written in Indian ragas. Indian classical music is largely improvised according to the strict rules of melody (raga) and rhythm patterns (tala). The Indian scale is Sa Ri Ga Ma Pa Dha Ni Sa. A little like tonic sol-fa on that Sa can be pitched on any note the main performer chooses. However, whereas any note in Western classical music can be natural, sharp or flat, in Indian music Sa and Pa are only allowed to be natural, Ri, Ga, Dha and Ni can be flattened but never sharpened, whilst Ma can be sharpened, but never flattened. A raga (of which there are hundreds all with different names), is a cross between a scale and a melody, based on combinations of notes, and only the fixed notes of the raga can be used. Some ragas have a different order of notes when ascending or descending. Each raga is supposed to express the mood of a particular time of day, or season. There is a different concept of harmony in Indian music, as chord based harmony does not exist. Groups of classical musicians in India tend to be smaller, with most players playing different versions of the main melody. The harmony is formed by the rising and falling melody against a drone-like bass. in 'Ragmala' I have followed the rules of the ragas, but in a manner foreign to most Indian classical musicians, as I have allowed harmonies to form between the ten individual lines.

If you want a bit different version of the arrangement behind Eleanor Rigby, this is it.The vocal part is unchanged, but everything behind is a bit different. So if you have a vocalist who loves the song and you don't have a string quartet, or want another variation than piano, you should check this out.The arrangement can be used anywhere you would use Eleanor Rigby. This 3:26 long arrangement is meant to be a bit different than the original, and when you get to the last verse, it really opens up in a new way. Eleanor Rigby, the original by the Beatles, with the string quartet, is a song I've been fascinated by since my childhood. For years I wanted to do my own version, just for fun, of course. This is what I came up with.

Contemporary,Funk,March,Rock. 15 pages. HarvardTHUD #721322. Published by HarvardTHUD (A0.1119991). This is the sheet music for THUD's staple bucket percussion piece, Classic Buckets, which we play at our various gigs throughout the year! The piece is written to be played on inverted 5-gallon buckets, which we modify by removing both the handles and the raised rim around the base of the bucket. The different beats (unique looped groups of measures) are virtually the same as in the video (linked below), though since this video was filmed, we've added a slightly new ending and a part in the Jungle beat where we raise our arms, click our sticks, and yell THUD! together! In the sheet music, different lines in the staff correspond to hitting different parts of the bucket/stage: top (E5), rim (C5), side (F5), chair (D5), floor (G5), and stick click (C5, but these only occur during the count-off and Jungle).

Instructional. Score and parts. 129 pages. Dots and Beams #5313613. Published by Dots and Beams (A0.931837). This book provides its user with a series of notes on a treble staff with no rhythm values and no meter. Chapters are organized by the placement of the notes relative to the staff; on the staff, above the staff, below the staff, on and above the staff, and on and below the staff. For each pitch range there is one chapter with no accidentals and one chapter with accidentals. All exercises have a space at the beginning of each staff to write in a key signature, allowing each exercise to be read in all keys and used in many ways. The aim with this book is to allow the user to focus specifically on exercises centred around pitch without the distraction of rhythmic values or time signatures. This can begin with the practice of sight-reading but can expand to include many other learning goals. The diatonic sets contain notes with no accidentals or key signature. These collections can be read as written, using only natural notes, or in any of the 15 key signatures from 7 flats to 7 sharps. Chromatic collections include sharp and flat notes as well as natural ones. The later exercises in these chapters increase the difficulty by including B#, Cb, E#, and Fb. Ledger line chapters start with the first ledger line and gradually expand away from the staff. Exercises above the staff reach up to the space above the fifth ledger line while exercises below reach down to the space below the third. The random nature of the notes in these exercises is intentional; it forces the user to pay attention to each note and makes the exercises very difficult to memorize, ensuring that they will still present a challenge even after multiple readings. It’s important when sight-reading to cycle through the exercises quickly rather than dwelling on a single exercise for a long time. This will ensure that you’re strengthening your ability to read the notes rather than just memorizing the exercises. Some suggestions for how to use this book include: Gain comfort reading the notes and finding them on your instrument in no particular rhythm or tempo. A greater challenge can be achieved by playing them at a steady tempo or by playing them in a simple rhythmic pattern. Beginner students can begin by writing in the note names. Play each exercise in all 15 key signatures. Advanced theory students and improvising musicians can also use these exercises to practice identifying scale degrees in various keys or playing chords built on every scale degree in the chosen key. Develop comfort with chords by playing a chord built on each note in the exercise. For example: for each note in the exercise, play the major chord with that root. Increase the difficulty with different chord qualities or different chord tones, for example: for every note, play the minor 7th chord in which the given note is the 3rd. Practice transposing into different keys. This is an especially useful challenge for people who play transposing instruments such as brass and woodwind instruments. Chapters with wide ranges can present a great exercise for musicians who play instruments where large leaps are a challenge. People who play strings, mallet percussion, piano, woodwinds, and brass would be among those who would benefit from practising these awkward leaps and falls. As with any of the Dots and Beams books, the uses for this particular collection are limited only by the imagination of the musician using it. I highly encourage anybody using this book to find as many uses for it as possible. My hope is that as you grow as a musician you will find ever more creative and challenging ways to use these materials so that you can return to these books for years.

Danny Crocome Music #1055743. Published by Danny Crocome Music (A0.1478361). This info sheet shows guitarists 4 weird ways to play the notes of a 2-octave D Major Scale:1. Blending higher fretted notes with open strings2. 3-notes-per-string legato (sequences of hammer-ons and pull-offs)3. Repeating pattern across string sets4. Each scale note on a different string. These unusual ways of playing an ascending and descending major scale give that familiar sound a wholly unfamiliar feel. These patterns also function well as warmup exercises, as they require a different level of left and right hand synchronization than the standard major scale patterns.
