Piano,Voice - Digital Download SKU: A0.1069977 Composed by Steven H. Boothe. Arranged by Ashley Ivers. Pop. Full Performance. Duration 184. Boothe Publishing #4633725. Published by Boothe Publishing (A0.1069977). Most of the mistakes I made in life were between the ages of 12-16 years. Somehow I felt that I was smarter than I was. I thought that my friends were smarter than they were. I felt invincible. I made many foolish mistakes during those years. About that time, my family was preparing to move from Oregon to Utah. I remember my mother talking with me and saying that I could start over again. We would be in a new place with new people. No one would know me. I could be the person I truly wanted to be. I thought about this a lot, and when we finally made the move I had decided what kind of person I really wanted to be. In fact, I felt bad for being the wrong kind of person and hurting other people physically and spiritually. I eventually felt so bad about my mistakes that I decided that I would write or call the people I had hurt and apologize to them. Over the period of a year I was able to find, call and apologize to each of them. To my great surprise none of them were still angry with me. I was forgiven. That was a great feeling. This day will be forever what you choose. Once you leave this life you won't be able to return and right any wrongs that you have committed. So when you make a mistake, choose to make it right today so that this day, this day of good choosing will be what will last forever. Never let yourself do something that you know inside is wrong. If your friends are trying to talk you into doing something you know is wrong, don't just sit there and listen to them. Get up and leave the room, or the party, or the situation. Be true. Be the one. Be the son or daughter of God. Do what He would do.

Small Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1195919 Composed by Annemieke Lustenhouwer. Contemporary. Score and parts. 80 pages. Annemieke Lustenhouwer #795094. Published by Annemieke Lustenhouwer (A0.1195919). What happens when you close your eyes and you see yourself standing next to Mother Mary when Jesus dies? What do you see and what do you feel? That was what I’ve been asking myself for years when I read the text Stabat Mater. This composition tells about this experience and this questions. Sometimes a motif tells quite literally about this story, like the moment when Jesus is nailed down the cross: first the right hand, then the left hand and finaly with one nail both feet. In the first part of the composition, the viola tells with sforzato accents about this. This Stabat Mater is not only an expression of the pain of the Virgin Mother, but is also a tribute to JS Bach as well. Bach is by some seen as a fith evangelist. Nowadays there are still a lot of people who are affected by how his music tells about biblical stories, like I am. In this Stabat Mater I use the number 5 to express that: the first part is written in 5/4th and the last part Quando corpus et Amen is written with 5 parts in the choir. There can also be found a reworked choral in the choir passages of  O quam tristis et afflicta. It is the choral Wie nahe mir mein Ende from BWV 166.Polyfony is a returning presence in this Stabat Mater. I had an visual idea about this. When I was young I saw in an exhibition a tapestry with all kinds of colours and threads, and everything felt in motion. It was a kind of organized mess, but it was beautiful and felt perfect. I wondered if I could manage to express this idea in music as well. Under one of the polyphonic passages there is a Latin-American dance rhythm to express that motion. I heard that rhythm in my childhood in a rhythmbox of the keyboard of my dad. Another passage has the baroque sarabande-rhythme underneath in the double bass.A lullaby-feeling in some parts of the Stabat Mater tells about another story that got intertwined with this composition. It’s the story of a mother who rocks her terminal dying little son in her arms. I once read that story and it felt connected with the Stabat Mater text for a long time. I decided to express that as well. This composition is dedicated to the Dutch conductor Geert van den Dungen. However I saw many conductors, while playing the oboe and clarinet from a young age, there was nobody who let me think very deeply about music. Geert was the one who changed that for me. I started to study scores and developed a great interest in music analysis and music psychology. Many moments of inspiration and understanding for this Stabat Mater happened on choir rehearsals and concerts where Geert was working. I am very grateful for that.String parts only, see for conductors/ choir score Sheet Music plus and Sheet music direct.

Instructional. Score and parts. 129 pages. Dots and Beams #5313621. Published by Dots and Beams (A0.931838). This book provides its user with a series of notes on a bass staff with no rhythm values and no meter. Chapters are organized by the placement of the notes relative to the staff; on the staff, above the staff, below the staff, on and above the staff, and on and below the staff. For each pitch range there is one chapter with no accidentals and one chapter with accidentals. All exercises have a space at the beginning of each staff to write in a key signature, allowing each exercise to be read in all keys and used in many ways. The aim with this book is to allow the user to focus specifically on exercises centred around pitch without the distraction of rhythmic values or time signatures. This can begin with the practice of sight-reading but can expand to include many other learning goals. The diatonic sets contain notes with no accidentals or key signature. These collections can be read as written, using only natural notes, or in any of the 15 key signatures from 7 flats to 7 sharps. Chromatic collections include sharp and flat notes as well as natural ones. The later exercises in these chapters increase the difficulty by including B#, Cb, E#, and Fb. Ledger line chapters start with the first ledger line and gradually expand away from the staff. Exercises above and below the staff extend to the space just beyond the fourth ledger line. The random nature of the notes in these exercises is intentional; it forces the user to pay attention to each note and makes the exercises very difficult to memorize, ensuring that they will still present a challenge even after multiple readings. It’s important when sight-reading to cycle through the exercises quickly rather than dwelling on a single exercise for a long time. This will ensure that you’re strengthening your ability to read the notes rather than just memorizing the exercises. Some suggestions for how to use this book include: Gain comfort reading the notes and finding them on your instrument in no particular rhythm or tempo. A greater challenge can be achieved by playing them at a steady tempo or by playing them in a simple rhythmic pattern. Beginner students can begin by writing in the note names. Play each exercise in all 15 key signatures. Advanced theory students and improvising musicians can also use these exercises to practice identifying scale degrees in various keys or playing chords built on every scale degree in the chosen key. Develop comfort with chords by playing a chord built on each note in the exercise. For example: for each note in the exercise, play the major chord with that root. Increase the difficulty with different chord qualities or different chord tones, for example: for every note, play the minor 7th chord in which the given note is the 3rd. Practice transposing into different keys. This is an especially useful challenge for people who play transposing instruments such as brass and woodwind instruments. Chapters with wide ranges can present a great exercise for musicians who play instruments where large leaps are a challenge. People who play strings, mallet percussion, piano, woodwinds, and brass would be among those who would benefit from practising these awkward leaps and falls. As with any of the Dots and Beams books, the uses for this particular collection are limited only by the imagination of the musician using it. I highly encourage anybody using this book to find as many uses for it as possible. My hope is that as you grow as a musician you will find ever more creative and challenging ways to use these materials so that you can return to these books for years and still find a valuable way to use them.

Small Ensemble Alto Saxophone,B-Flat Clarinet,B-Flat Trumpet,Flute,Horn,Trombone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1047346 By Blaze Scheuerman. By Blaze Scheuerman. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary,Jazz,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 43 pages. Blaze Scheuerman #651904. Published by Blaze Scheuerman (A0.1047346). Through The Years is meant to be a reflection back onto one’s childhood. Inspired by my own upbringing, it is a recollection of past events that came and mindsets experienced. It opens up with a loud and active sound to show the start of the journey. The character begins happy and energetic, going head first with no fear. The dotted quarter note theme at measure 11 then shows the young child’s state of mind. While beginning to understand concepts of anxiety and fear, he is still full of vigor and confidence. Then at measure 26, the main character begins his adolescence. Still fresh and happy, he sees the world in a simple way and that it is actively watching out for him. He is enjoying this passive time of leisure until measure 40, where he decides to actively try to seek out something. He gets carried away however, and tries to return back to his roots, seen in measure 59. Unfortunately he finds himself tainted and unable to return to his go-getting former self. He then does something peculiar in measure 77. Instead of being angered or saddened by this fact, he accepts it and takes a step back to rebuild himself, seen in the fugato section. After a long and detailed remapping, he finds himself back at his desired happy self. However at measure 127, he feels himself changing once again. So through active awareness and will, he prevents himself from changing into something he doesn’t want to be and instead stays as his desired self.

Guido Menestrina #119775. Published by Guido Menestrina (A0.828699). Karl Friedrich Abel - Sinfonia Op. 7 n. 1 - Primo Movimento - Allegro Karl Friedrich Abel - Symphony Op. 7 n. 1 - First Movement - Allegro Edited by Guido Menestrina - Full score and single parts for 2 oboe, 2 F Horns (originally cor de chasse), 2 violins, viola and cello (originally basse de violon). Abel was born in Köthen,[3][4] a small German city, where his father, Christian Ferdinand Abel, had worked for years as the principal viola da gamba and cello player in the court orchestra. In 1723 Abel senior became director of the orchestra, when the previous director, Johann Sebastian Bach moved to Leipzig. The young Abel later boarded at Leipzig's Thomasschule, where he was taught by Bach. On Bach's recommendation in 1743 he was able to join Johann Adolph Hasse's court orchestra at Dresden where he remained for fifteen years.[3][5] In 1759 (or 1758 according to Chambers),[1] he went to England and became chamber-musician to Queen Charlotte, in 1764.[3][5] He gave a concert of his own compositions in London, performing on various instruments, one of which was a five-string cello known as a pentachord, which had been recently invented by John Joseph Merlin.[6] In 1762, Johann Christian Bach, the eleventh son of J.S. Bach, joined him in London, and the friendship between him and Abel led, in 1764 or 1765, to the establishment of the famous Bach-Abel concerts, England's first subscription concerts. In those concerts, many celebrated guest artists appeared, and many works of Haydn received their first English performance. For ten years the concerts were organized by Mrs. Theresa Cornelys, a retired Venetian opera singer who owned a concert hall at Carlisle House in Soho Square, then the height of fashionable events. In 1775 the concerts became independent of her, to be continued by Abel and Bach until Bach's death in 1782. Abel still remained in great demand as a player on various instruments new and old. He traveled to Germany and France between 1782 and 1785, and upon his return to London, became a leading member of the Grand Professional Concerts at the Hanover Square Rooms in Soho. Throughout his life he had enjoyed excessive living, and his drinking probably hastened his death, which occurred in London on 20 June 1787.[citation needed] One of Abel's works became famous due to a misattribution: in the 19th century, a manuscript symphony in the hand of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, was catalogued as his Symphony no. 3 in E flat, K. 18, and was published as such in the first complete edition of Mozart's works by Breitkopf & Härtel. Later, it was discovered that this symphony was actually the work of Abel, copied by the boy Mozart-evidently for study purposes-while he was visiting London in 1764. That symphony was originally published as the concluding work in Abel's Six Symphonies, Op. 7. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bN3mtmg-rLI.

Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.576733). Mysterious piece in octatonic mode, originally written for the short story The Door The pdf file contains score and parts. The sound sample is an electronic preview. High up on the grassy hill behind the town there is a door. It stands there in its frame with nothing before or behind it. It is locked shut. There is no key. We climb the hill each day. We play each side of the door, games of hide and seek. But we cannot go through the door. Each day we go there during this long sultry summer holiday. We are fascinated by the structure. Why would anyone put a door up there, in its frame, eternally locked, with nothing before or behind it? Maybe it is all that remains of an ancient house? We play, we wonder, we laugh and play, and we return regularly to our homes in time for tea. Then, one day, as we climb the hill for the umpteenth time, a lady dressed in white arrives before us. We watch her take the key out of her bag and insert it in the lock. We are too far downhill to catch up before she closes the door behind her. As we arrive, puffing and panting, Steve knocks on the door. No answer. Dave knocks on the door more forcefully. We hear a distant swish of robes. Gloria knocks, perhaps a little more timidly as the swishing sound approaches. Estelle begins to knock in her turn and the door suddenly opens wide. We all gasp as we see the lady standing there in glistening robes. Her face is hidden from view by a white shawl, but her piercing eyes still show. Children, she says, welcome all. Do come in, please, the kettle is on. You are just in time for tea. We hesitate, as well we might. How can we come in when there is nothing before or behind the door? But Estelle puts one foot inside and looks back at us with a curious expression of serenity on her face. We follow her. We look around at the new space beyond the door and at the parquet floor beneath our dew-soaked feet. As our eyes become accustomed to the brightness of the interior we catch sight of many signs of the world we have entered, but only fleetingly. They pass before our eyes in an instant and then flee beyond the range of sight. There is a staircase, a hat stand, a distant gleam of an ancient cooker, a faint whiff of scones and boiling jam. As we walk inside, our senses are overwhelmed with the new reality, we are rooted to the spot. Do please sit down, says the lady with a slight catch in her throat. We are seated on wooden chairs along one side of an oak table, although we cannot recall how we got there, some slip of the memory perhaps. We have no sense of foreboding, Estelle's serenity has passed to all of us. We can stay here eating scones and jam until the end of time. The lady removes her shawl and reveals a face as beautiful as anyone's mother's. Her deep black eyes glisten like obsidian. She beams a smile of welcome and pours the tea. I'm glad you have come. I've been expecting you, she begins. You must have a thousand questions, so do please ask away. Well, says Steve, what is this door that we passed through? Is this another world? There is no other world, the lady replies, this is the only one. But there is! There is! starts Dave excitedly, Look!. He gets up quickly from the chair, knocking it over in his haste and rushes to the door to open it. He pulls at it with all his force and reveals a black nothingness behind it. We were on the hill, where's it gone? he shouts, what have you done to it? There is no hill. But you climbed the hill in front of us says Gloria. There is no hill. Even Estelle of the serene demeanour is beginning to look worried. How did we get here then, how did you get here, she asks the lady nervously. We have all been here since the beginning of time, the catch in the lady's throat is becoming more evident. No, we have our families down there in the town cries Estelle You have no families,.

String Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1517572 By Keith Terrett. By Original: Korofo Moussa, 1904 Modern: Fodéba Keïta, 1958. Arranged by Keith Terrett. Instructional,Multicultural,Patriotic,Praise & Worship,Traditional,World. 9 pages. Keith Terrett #1091734. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.1517572). Korofo Moussa's song:The music of the anthem is derived from a praise song for the late-1800s king of Labé, in Fouta Djallon, Alpha Yaya Diallo (or Alfa Yaya). Alpha Yaya is, along with Wassoulou Empire founder Samory Touré, considered central by Guineans to the foundation of the modern Guinean nation, in part because of his fierce attempts to resist colonisation. In 1904, Alpha Yaya was one of many traditional chiefs and kings summoned to a doctrinal conference with French colonists, who were still in the process of consolidating his territory. The chiefs each brought along a retinue for the journey; in Alpha Yaya's retinue was griot Korofo Moussa, from Kissidougou in the south of the country. Alpha Yaya arrived to the conference on its sixth day, and Korofo Moussa is said to have spontaneously improvised, along with his troupe of dancers and kora players, a praise song for Alpha Yaya after he arrived. The song began with the line Alpha Yaya, Mansa bè Manka (Alpha Yaya, mansas (kings) are not the same). According to Fodéba Isto Keira, former Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, the performance took place in the building of the modern Directorate of the Judicial Police in the Kaloum sub-prefecture of Conakry.Korofo Moussa's air quickly became popular; it was sung and played by all the griots for the rest of the conference, and within a few days it was known throughout Conakry. Alpha Yaya's personal griot immediately trained to play the song. Upon the return of the kings and their retinues to their regions, it spread throughout the country.Modern anthem:Upon approaching independence in 1958, the lyrics of Korofo Moussa's song were reworked and written in French by artist, choreographer and politician Fodéba Keïta and Jean Cellier for the national anthem of Guinea. Korofo Moussa's melody was retained for the anthem. According to Keira, Keïta used the solfège method when working with the music. Keira stated that the national anthem had to be inspired by something from Fouta Djallon for the sake of avoiding frustrations and preserving national unity.

The first speaks to the space of wonderment in our lives, where good friends and experiences surround us. The bitterness within a life that begins to be complicated where it wasn¹t before starts to overwhelm the sweetness on the tongue. Just as Mr. Lu has said: No matter whether you climb to the top of the mountain or not, we are all embraced by it. It is true that we admire it not only for its great majesty and steep scenery, but, more importantly, for the spiritual meaning behind it, from which we learn humility. When visiting the mountain, the composer was moved to be lost and speechless, and soon reminded of the poem by the poet Kuei-Shien Lee, The Invisible Temple, as follows: I stand high, having no fear of seeing very far. It is blurry far away from here, and nothing can’t be seen. I insist on coldness, silencing the world in my inner rock strata. I am independent of the uproarious world of mortals. Those who are frantic come here, the invisible temple. Still frantic, they return to the world, without appreciating anything. With Lee’s consent, the title of the poem was applied to this work, to represent the composer’s feelings of visiting the Yu-shan Mountain. In this work, several songs from the aboriginal Tsou and Bunun tribes are adopted for the large male chorus and orchestra. It comprises three parts: 1. The talk in the night staying at the Inn Paiyun, 2. The Sunrise, and 3. The Worship, which are to be performed attacca (without pause or interruption). P.S. 1. The work was commissioned by Chew’s Culture Foundation, and was composed in 2005-2006. In December 2007, it was premiered by Chun-Chiang Chiu conducting the Taiwan National Symphony Orchestra and the Taipei Philharmonic Chorus at the Kaohsiung City Cultural Center and the National Concert Hall in Taipei, respectively. 2. The source of the folk melodies of Tsou and Bunun tribes is from the CD released by the Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan and.

Thomas Oboe Lee #15877. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.869357). Instrumentation: 2222-4231-timp-2perc-hp-pf-strings. Program note: First of all, a huge embrace for Max Hobart who has been so very supportive by promoting and premiering new works for the orchestra. Since 1991, I have written three works for Max and the Civic Symphony Orchestra of Boston. Symphony No. 4 ... War and Peace is my fourth contribution and this work is dedicated to Max. A year ago, John Finney and the University Chorale of Boston College premiered my Mass for the Holy Year 2000. It was a millennial commission by the Jesuit Institution for the community of Boston College. For that occasion I had originally planned to write a Mass whose texts would include both the Latin from the Ordinary of the Mass - Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus & Agnus Dei - and poems concerning the atrocities and senseless killing in warfare during the last century. However, as it turned out, the poems I chose ended up reflecting the Latin text, which is all about faith and redemption. But I still wanted to write an anti-war symphony. When I approached Max with this idea, he was very excited. Initially he was a little concerned that I might want to use the Tolstoy novel as my inspiration. I assured him that it would not be a four-hour symphony. In order to convey a political message through a symphonic work, texts set as songs are the most direct way. For this symphony, I have narrowed my focus to poems written by veterans of the First World War - some euphemistically call it the Great War. The first poem by Rupert Brooke, The Soldier, has an uneasy, patriotic cheerfulness to its message. The second poem by Wilfred Owen, Dulce et decorum est, is a more realistic view of warfare. Dying for one's own country is not so cool when the dead and the dying are staring at your face!!! The third and last poem by Ivor Gurney, To his love, reflects on the aftermath of war: peace, but at what cost!!! Rupert Brooke (1887 - 1915) died on a naval expedition near the Greek island of Gallipoli. He died of blood poisoning. Wilfred Owen (1893 - 1918) was wounded three times in France in the spring of 1917 and was sent back to England to recuperate. He returned to the Front, and was killed on November 4, 1918, just a few days before the Armistice was signed. Ivor Gurney (1890 - 1937), a composer as well, was acutely sensitive to the horrors of the war and, after being wounded and gassed in 1917, he was sent back home to a mental hospital. He died twenty years later without ever recovering from the traumas of war.Audio link: https://thomasoboelee.bandcamp.com/album/symphony-no-4-war-and-peace-2001

Mixed choir (SSSAAATTTBBB) - difficult - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q19671 For mixed choir. Composed by Steve Martland. This edition: choral score. Choral Music of Our Time. Downloadable, Choral score. Duration 23 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q19671. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q19671). English.Sea Songs, commissioned jointly by Ars Nova Copenhagen and Glasgow Concert Halls, is a kind of sequel to Martland's Street Songs (originally written for the Kings Singers and Evelyn Glennie). As with the earlier piece, Martland made use of to the library of the English Folk Song and Dance Society at Cecil Sharp House in north London. I wanted specifically to find texts that were not just the usual nautical heave-ho sort of thing, but instead explored the dangers and hardships still being experienced by sailors as recently as the early 19th century. I was also very happy to see in these texts the sense of camaraderie and mutual support that existed between the sailors. (Steve Martland) Dance to your Daddy sets the scene of a sailor's wife at home, dandling her baby son and singing to him about his daddy away fishing, and about the future. Both the tune and the words come from the Northumberland area around Newcastle. This song is very well known in the UK and gave the title to a famous television series When the boat comes in. Fire Down Below is about the effects of fire - a constant danger on board wooden ships. At the end of this song the words take on an extended meaning: Fire in our hearts for the friends that we love. The Dead Horse is about the initial month of work without pay in which all seamen had to take part. They referred to it as the dead horse - hence the expression to flog a dead horse when something is a waste of time. The seamen resented this unpaid time, and the text expresses their frustrations metaphorically by listing what they would do to the horse! The music's frantic gallop alludes to the horse's desperation. Although The Sea Martyrs presents itself as a ballad, this text has a more literary feel, and unlike the other songs it doesn't include a chorus refrain. It concerns the sailors' lack of pay, the consequences of asking for pay (being hanged!), and the poverty of their families at home. The poem portrays the sailors' deaths as an almost religious sacrifice to help future seamen. At the end of the work, the opening of Dance to your Daddy returns as a kind of descant, sung by an angel calling to the hanged men. © Paul Hillier, 2012.

DF McCorkle Music and eBook Publications #11755. Published by DF McCorkle Music and eBook Publications (A0.784832). ACT TWO: Song 6. The King, by Dennis McCorkle, is a contemporary pop-rock musical of the first two kings of Israel, Saul ben Kish and David ben Jesse and explores the contrasting lives and outcome of each man’s choices in life. [2 Samuel 11:12-13 - And David said to Uriah: ‘Tarry here to-day also, and to-morrow I will let thee depart.’ So Uriah abode in Jerusalem that day, and the morrow. 13 And when David had called him, he did eat and drink before him; and he made him drunk; and at even he went out to lie on his bed with the servants of his lord, but went not down to his house.] In fear of being exposed, DAVID has her husband brought back from the field with the hope that he will have relations with his wife covering up his own indiscretion. URIAH, a conscientious soldier, returns home, but sleeps outside on his steps out of respect for the men still fighting on the front. Seeing that his ploy has not worked, he has URIAH and some of his men over to the palace for drinks [Pour Me Another One – Troops, Uriah and David]. Getting URIAH drunk, DAVID has him escorted home, but as before he sleeps outside. As a last desperate measure, he sends a letter for JOAB (David’s commander and confidant) back with URIAH to place URIAH on the front line and then have the rest of the troops pull back leaving him exposed. URIAH is killed. Also included with your order is our new 20 page catalog of over 150 titles at no additional charge.
