The texts of the seven songs are from Native American nations - Winnebago, Aztec, Papago, Makah, Navajo, Iroquois - and celebrate nature and our timeless human condition. This trio was commissioned for a Ken Cro-Ken art opening at Park Art in New York City. It is played from the score. A separate score in concert pitch is included for the soprano. The movement Song of the Deer uses natural horn in F for the timbre and lightness but can be played on a modern horn. Clarinet in B flat and A. Duration approximately 14 minutes. Each score is 27 pages.

This is a solo guitar instrumental arrangement in both TAB and standard notation (including lyrics for reference) of Colors of the Wind (from Pocahontas), created by Brad Powell The Candlelight Guitarist--for his performances in the Princess Breakfast Adventure at the Disneyland Resort's Grand Californian hotel (Napa Rose restaurant), from 2019 to early 2024. Brad performed this for Pocahontas, her friends, and guests. It's an intermediate level larrangement mixing pop with basic classical fingerstyle techniques. You can see & hear the full arrangement performed in the YouTube link provided.ABOUT: Brad Powell (aka The Candlelight Guitarist) began guitar at age ten, inspired by The Beatles. At 15, he became a protégé of jazz guitarist Joe Pass, and later studied classical guitar under Vincent Macaluso, and at California State University, Northridge under Ronald Purcell, with a master class under Andrés Segovia. Brad was featured performing Gerald Wilson's Sonata for Guitar and Orchestra at the Hollywood Bowl, with the composer conducting. Brad was mentored in composition by David Rose (composer for Little House on the Prairie). Brad has composed music for TV, including Hill Street Blues and The 'A' Team, working with Mike Post. Brad has ten albums as The Candlelight Guitarist. When not making music, Brad is often out hiking with his four dogs. It began as a work for orchestra called Folk Songs of Somerset, making use of 10 songs from the collections of Sharp. That work (on manuscript)was rediscovered in 2017 in New Zealand Holst reworked four of the tunes from that piece into the Rhapsody:The Sheep-Shearing Song (also known as It’s a Rosebud in June), invokes idyllic pastoral settings and is played at the beginning by the oboe d’amore (English Horn in the wind band version). High Germany, is a song about marching off to war, and is also used by Holst’s colleague, Ralph Vaughan Williams, in his own Folk Song Suite.True Love’s Farewell, is a song about lovers saying goodbye, and is sometimes also known as Ten Thousand Miles. The final tune used is The Cuckoo.Curiously, The Cuckoo does not seem to be recognised as one of the folk tunes used in this piece...the program note in the transcription refers only to the three other folk melodies, and many program notes omit any reference to The Cuckoo whatsoever.Though not a programmatic work, the composer once divulged to a colleague that the work told a story:Into a quiet country scene comes the sound of approaching soldiers. A youth who is courting a girl is persuaded to enlist and go to war. The soldiers march into the distance and the pastoral quietness returns. The girl is left alone.â€It works well for wind dectet.

This is the thirtieth-fifth volume of an extensive collection of folk songs arranged for the classical guitar mostly in two-part counterpoint. The arrangements are of moderate difficulty and the aims of this publication are to familiarise, entertain and educate guitarists (and other musicians) with a melodic repertoire of lasting aesthetic value, under the light of contrapuntal treatment. The thirty five volumes of this collection can certainly be printed on paper if so desired and there are a few pages in each volume, either blank or with photographs of various musicians, which can be inserted at will in any place for the correct ordering of left and right hand pages so that page turns can be avoided. The principle of avoiding page turns has been maintained in all  volumes, but this edition is also designed with mobile electronic devices in mind such as tablets etc, using the environment and facilities of a score reading application, towards a paperless world, at least in music.
