Written by lead singer Freddie Mercury, it was recorded in August 1978 at Super Bear Studios in Berre-les-Alpes, France, and is the twelfth track on the album.This arrangement is aimed at student keyboard ensembles with keyboardists or pianists at around grade 1 and grade 2 level. There are 4 student parts (Trumpet, Strings, Bass Guitar and Piano 2) all written in treble clef; some octave transposition may be appropriate depending on keyboard model. Piano 1 is more difficult and can either be played by the teacher or a more advanced student. Don't Get Around Much Anymore quickly became a hit after Bob Russell wrote its lyrics in 1942.Two different recordings of Don't Get Around Much Anymore, one by The Ink Spots and the other by Ellington's own band, reached No. 1 on the R&B chart in the US in 1943. Both were top-ten pop records, along with a version by Glen Gray. At one point in each verse a low G in the vocals collides with a low F# in the guitar. That is not a misprint. Hopefully you'll discover that it feels completely natural to sing and play those notes together.
