This is a challenging work for Euphonium soloist and traditional British brass band. It has all the elements of a concerto in truncated format. The form is quite traditional, with a fast-slow-fast layout, and the movements dovetail together for a seamless experience. The overall tonality is F-minor, just approached in a pandiatonic way.
