This 6-part arrangement spreads the music in the lower parts amongst more players, making it ideal for a mixed ability ensemble.To find my other arrangement (all parts are at least intermediate standard) visit my website - link below - and go to the quartets page. Based on a simple repeating chord sequence, this is a powerful piece of music and fits classical guitar so very well. Extending across three and a quarter octaves, there's a big sound, a strong melody, a hypnotic countermelody and a pulsing rhythm. When a version of this arrangement was played by Hampshire Guitar Orchestra it always went down a storm.Ideal for a school concert or for an adult concert's closing item or encore.The parts vary from the easy side of intermediate up to advanced intermediate, and it's perfect for a mixed ability sextet or large ensemble.Guitar 1 has some 8va phrases - these need to be taken right up the neck so they top the wall of sound - the 8va is simply to aid reading.Guitar 6 is supplied in both treble and bass clefs - either or both can be played. But having just one guitar means that the inner voice sometimes runs out of steam, and the bass voice jumps around from one octave to another. It always left me feeling there was a bit more music to be had amongst the notes.My arrangement, for 4 intermediate players (some of the parts are a little easier) is in a different key entirely. Spreading the workload allows a little more action to go on under the tune.Guitar 4 is 6=D, and it’s also supplied in bass clef (for a normally tuned contra guitar or similar). The high register version (an octave higher) is mainly in the clarion register, but it does cross the break here and there, and requires a little more skill.The Guitar is tuned down to 6=D and has the 3:3:2 rhythm that gives this piece its real sense of fun. Although the music reaches the fifth position in places, it’s generally in first and second position to give access to a deeper bass-line. Note that the guitar part requires a Capo on fret 1, and the position markings are relative to the Capo. It will suit a quartet or a larger ensemble.My arrangement is just a semitone lower than the original and moves the piece to a familiar and comfortable set of notes for the intermediate player.There is limited Left Hand fingering - whilst the lower parts remain in first position much of the time, the upper parts go up the neck. Players confident up the neck might stay up there, but less experienced players might want to return to more familiar territory as soon as possible, so please add the fingering that works for you.The original has the luxury of instruments with long sustain, and with contrasting tone colours. In order to make sure that the tune cuts through, be sure to listen to those around you…The whole piece is here, lasting 5 minutes or so. It makes a wonderful item for a concert, with a Rondo form and a spirited feel that’s easy to lock together.The TV show has tried different versions over the years, including one by Mike Oldfield, but my arrangement is based the full-length version as played by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.I’ve changed the key to D major so that everything fits on the neck of the guitar and uses familiar notes.Guitar 4 is tuned to 6=D to add more depth. An alternative Guitar 4 part in bass clef is also supplied, and here normal tuning is used.The original theme is fast. To be honest, it’s very fast indeed. And well-known to so, so many people.My arrangement for 3 guitars is somewhere between intermediate (for Guitars 1 & 3) and advanced intermediate (Guitar 2), and will also suit a large ensemble.Guitar 1 is the tune, and Guitar 3 provides the countermelodies. Both are 3 pages long, and a bit of sticky tape to the joins will ensure they fit a normal music stand with no page turns.Guitar 2 (the electric guitar part) is 4 pages, but I have placed open strings and then a bar’s rest at the foot of the page to allow plenty of time for page turns. FOOT TAPPER (The Shadows) - 3 GUITARS or LARGE ENSEMBLEFor Classical Guitar - also suits Acoustic Guitar or Electric GuitarDerek Hasted writes It’s a bit of a blast from the past, but this is a really “under-the-fingers†piece that lives up to its name.My arrangement for 3 early intermediate guitars is devoid of the drum part, so a few extra notes have been added and a few empty bars removed, so that continuity is assured where the short drum breaks of the original took place.That apart, the speed, the key and the structure of the original are all here.Guitar 1 is the tune, and I’ve lifted it up an octave in the slow section so it’s easier to hear amongst the strummed chords, which can be quite heavy sounding on a classical guitar.Guitar 2 is the rhythm guitar part - all the chords are named, so that a school ensemble teacher, for example, can suggest 3- or 4-string versions of the big chords here. And you may find the usual first position G chord is less tiring than the barré version here, though it will sound a little bass-heavy.Either or both of the treble clef and bass clef versions of Guitar 3 can be played. The bass line is supplied in both treble and bass clefs, and the two parts are identical, so for a large ensemble, you can have one or the other or both in your performance.Everything is comfortable to play, and my transcription is based closely on the official video from Chicago. I have changed the key very slightly so that the deep bass notes fit on the guitar’s bottom strings and the tune is placed comfortably on the neck. There are no page turns in the part score.The music rises and falls as the song progresses, making the dynamics happen almost automatically.
