The piece is in a Neo-Romantic and slightly modern style, although it only includes a few contemporary playing techniques. The title mystery derives from the dialogue between two opposing forces, the first, presented in the opening theme, is a beautiful locked box containing hidden gems of knowledge, while the second, heard in the development section, is an aggressive passionate voice seeking the answers to the sacred question: what is the meaning of life? These two voices go back and forth in a type of struggle before finally, at the end, there is a kind of opening or revelation, where the box is partially opened, perhaps to reveal another box inside containing a deeper layer of meaning. In addition the USA and the UK, Oliveira's music has also been played in many countries, with invitations for concerts exclusively with his music in México, Italy and Holland (Amsterdam). The Spanish Magazine Sonograma has published 2 interviews with Sergio.Sergio is the founder and a member of the group of composers Prelúdio 21. The group is one of the most active worldwide. It holds a distinguished place in Brazilian contemporary music, having been active for 15 consecutive seasons, with a permanent series of monthly concerts since 2008. In 2011 the group released the CD String Quartets, with performances by the Quarteto Radamés Gnattali. Oliveira is also a member of the group of composers Vox Novus, based in New York.To commemorate 15 years of activity as a composer, Oliveira released a box set with 4 CDs, as well as a CD with composer Mark Hagerty, and produced the series QUINZE, with 13 concerts including his works, between July and October of 2012. More than 130 musicians, including 28 composers, participated of QUINZE (CDs and series).His discography includes 14 CDs as producer, 14 as composer, 22 as general producer, 2 as arranger and 2 as pianist. With the four sides of the box each having a different meaning, the concept has been translated here musically.The traditional melody is initially stated by all voices except bass in unison. From here, the bass enters with a moving line that borrows heavily from western jazz influence, above which we hear the other voices of the ensemble in turn. As each enters, it has a unique take on the basic structure of the original tune, but with an improvisational influence that continues as the next voice enters. When the final voice (cello) enters with the original tune restated, the upper voices join forces to in a final counter-statement.

(According to Wikipedia: The film, made on a budget of just over $1 million, was a sleeper hit; it earned $225 million in global box office receipts, becoming the highest-grossing film of 1976... Among other accolades, it went on to receive ten Academy Award nominations, winning three, including Best Picture.)Originally, this arranger had envisioned and created this as an arrangement for wind quartet (flute, clarinet, horn and bassoon or bass clarinet). But after it was completed and shared, requests were received for a similar arrangement for string quartet (i.e., the original instrumentation used in the movie). And so, this flexible package was created, in which the violin part is mirrored by the flute part (same key and page), the viola is mirrored by a clarinet, the cello is mirrored by a horn, and the string bass is mirrored by a bassoon/bass clarinet/euphonium. So, virtually any combination of these instruments may be used to form a quartet, or even a double quartet! The duration is approximately 2.5 minutes.
