There are some classical elements such as articulations, slurs and trills but the four hands combine really cleverly to create an arrangement which is attractive and appealing. It is not quite so easy however, but with practice it is really be enjoyable to perform.

Just as Mr. Lu has said: No matter whether you climb to the top of the mountain or not, we are all embraced by it. It is true that we admire it not only for its great majesty and steep scenery, but, more importantly, for the spiritual meaning behind it, from which we learn humility. When visiting the mountain, the composer was moved to be lost and speechless, and soon reminded of the poem by the poet Kuei-Shien Lee, The Invisible Temple, as follows: I stand high, having no fear of seeing very far. It is blurry far away from here, and nothing can’t be seen. I insist on coldness, silencing the world in my inner rock strata. I am independent of the uproarious world of mortals. Those who are frantic come here, the invisible temple. Still frantic, they return to the world, without appreciating anything. With Lee’s consent, the title of the poem was applied to this work, to represent the composer’s feelings of visiting the Yu-shan Mountain. In this work, several songs from the aboriginal Tsou and Bunun tribes are adopted for the large male chorus and orchestra. It comprises three parts: 1. The talk in the night staying at the Inn Paiyun, 2. The Sunrise, and 3. The Worship, which are to be performed attacca (without pause or interruption). P.S. 1. The work was commissioned by Chew’s Culture Foundation, and was composed in 2005-2006. In December 2007, it was premiered by Chun-Chiang Chiu conducting the Taiwan National Symphony Orchestra and the Taipei Philharmonic Chorus at the Kaohsiung City Cultural Center and the National Concert Hall in Taipei, respectively. 2. The source of the folk melodies of Tsou and Bunun tribes is from the CD released by the Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan and.

The grandeur and vastness felt in the Rocky Mountains naturally evokes a sense of greatness and awe for nature. In late July 2024, when I was composing this music, smoke from the Jasper wildfires was carried by the wind to Calgary, more than 300 km away, and it seemed as if the entire city was covered in fog. It seems that even the huge wildfires are an irresistible force of nature that cannot be controlled by human power. I am delighted to leave a “Serenade for Strings” titled “Rocky” in history. The first movement is composed in the traditional sonata form with the theme of “Brilliant Rocky,” and progresses with two contrasting themes: a lively first theme and a beautiful one. The second movement is composed with the title of “Magnificent Rocky,” and expresses the beautiful and majestic scenery of the Rockies. The third movement is developed under the theme of “Memories and Reminiscences of Rocky,” and overall, it expresses the process of climbing and descending to the top of Rocky and the excitement of the heart. The short episodes that unfold between the themes express various scenes of Rocky, and the technique of expanding and contracting notes is used to express tension, vitality, and an atmosphere of passion. The rising and falling musical figures visually and symbolically express the shapes of high mountains and the foothills.

It is dedicated to Matthew Ruggiero, a great musician, teacher, friendand the founder of the Boston Woodwind Society.The structure of this work is in three movements each of which correspond to the three parts of Dante's masterpiece. The title of the movements are: Up From the Depths,Journey to the High Mountain and Life Dance, relating directly to Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso. In Journey Toward The Eternal Flame I attempt to personalizeand modernize Dante's classic story by relating it to one's individual life journey. Each movement symbolizes the struggle to overcome both internal and externalchallenges with the goal to move closer to finding inner peace and establishing a personal relationship to the divine.

The poem was Walter Scott's The Lady of the Lake. Consequently, this song became an integral part of Schubert's Song cycle. Therefore the cycle is called: the Lady of the Lake. In the poem, Ellen Douglas is the Lady of the Lake. The lake is probably Loch Katrine in the Scottish Highlands. First of all, Ellen goes with her father to stay in the Goblin's cave. They go because he earlier refused to join in a rebellion against King James. Roderick Dhu, the chief of the rebellious Alpine Clan, marches up the mountain with his army. But before the battle, he, first of all, hears Ellen singing. She is singing a prayer calling for help from the Virgin Mary. Schubert's piece was first performed at the castle of Countess Sophie Weissenwolff in Steyregg, Austria.  Schubert dedicated the arrangement to her, and as a result, she became famous as the lady of the lake.The incipit of Ellen's song is Ave Maria which is Latin for Hail Mary. It seems like this similarity led Schubert to adapt the melody to accommodate the Roman Catholic prayer Ave Maria. Consequently, the Latin version of Ave Maria finally became more famous than the original so that consequently many believe he wrote the Latin version first. Schubert Franz Schubert (1797–1828) was, in fact, a famous Austrian composer. Moreover, he composed during the late Classical and early Romantic periods. Schubert was comparatively prolific. He wrote more than 600 secular vocal works, seven symphonies, and, correspondingly, a massive amount of piano and chamber music. Critics agree, as a matter of fact, that his most famous works include his Piano Quintet in A major, D. 667 (also known as the Trout Quintet), the Symphony No. 8 in B minor, D. 759 (Unfinished Symphony), the last sonatas for piano (D. 958–960), and the song cycles Die schöne Müllerin (D. 795) and Winterreise (D. 911). Education Schubert was furthermore a musical child prodigy. He studied violin with his father as well as piano with his older brother. In addition, when Schubert was eleven he studied at Stadtkonvikt school, where he became familiar with the orchestral music of Haydn, Mozart, and likewise Beethoven. In due time he left school and returned home where he studied to become an educator; nevertheless, he continued studying composition with Antonio Salieri. Performance Eventually, Schubert was admitted to the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde as a performer. This appointment straightaway established his name in Vienna as a composer and pianist. The story is of a disabled and deformed young woman who, accompanied by her employer, the Chief Shepherd, takes a long journey through perilous and challenging conditions, and finally endis up on mountain peaks, fully victorious over her trials, and healed of her infirmities. This work depicts her awaking up and finding great joy in the healing. I wrote this for six flutes, but it can be expanded for a full flute choir/orchestra, and accompanied by a bodhrun.
