Woodwind Ensemble - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1465009 Composed by Tommie Connor. Arranged by Michael Maschmeier (ASCAP). Christmas,Holiday,Jazz,Traditional. 39 pages. Warrior Musician LLC #1043708. Published by Warrior Musician LLC (A0.1465009). Duration 2:20, Mixed Woodwind Ensemble or Woodwing Flex Ensemble, Grade 1.5-2.0: Here's a fun arrangement of this more modern, secular Christmas Song for Woodwinds. It offers a great way to feature your 5 best reeders, 7 reeders or all your woodwinds or as a transition piece. Perhaps something in the lobby as people are coming into the concert. Easily playable by most high school players or advanced junior high. It starts out timid, almost scared, like a child that doesn't want to get caught peeking, but gradually opens up into a swing style, with a toe tapping feel and a great rope at the end played by the alto sax, tenor sax or horn. Speaking of part 4, they get to have some ripping fun and the Part 5 player gets to show off their low-down technique.

Published by Derek Hasted (A0.797733). I'll HAVE TO SAY LOVE YOU IN A SONG - 4 GUITARS/LARGE ENSEMBLEFor Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar.Derek Hasted writes This is a wonderful little piece by Jim Croce. This arrangement is written for 4 guitars, but would also work really well with a large ensemble. Audiences will love the bright, colorful sound and the constant feeling of motion and drive, and the overall sound is busy and delightful. It's not at all technically difficult and would suit a school ensemble or an adult ensemble of medium ability. The parts have no page turns and they synchronize easily.Although there are no dynamics on the piece, you will find that the four verses gradually build, with deeper bass and extra countermelodies coming in, as well as a surprise silence. These details will help you find dynamics that work for your particular ensemble. Guitar 2 requires a Capo at the 7th fret, and it's notated with the notes you'd play (not the pitch that comes out).Guitar 4 has the sixth string tuned down to D for a big deep sound.

Published by EAMUSIC (A0.1283414). Obelisk is a work that was built as a response to the atrocious events happening in the war between Russia and Ukraine. As a composer who was born in Ukraine, I felt very deeply for the hardships of the people of my country and this work is a direct emotional response to the images I see and stories I hear. The central part of the work features pre-recorded interviews with some of the Ukrainian civilians telling their harrowing stories of loss, struggles, and fight for survival.  When I was a child, my parents made the difficult decision to leave the country due to the beginning of another war Russia’s Putin started in Chechnya and my parents knew - one day he would be coming for Ukraine. As someone who immigrated to Canada at a young age, I experienced all the difficulties associated with finding new life in a new country. I saw the struggles of my parents and now I see the struggles being experienced by people fleeing Ukraine.  Throughout the work you will hear the sonic accompaniment to the pain and suffering that Ukrainians undergo on daily basis, you will hear their voices and see images of the brutality committed against the people of Ukraine. This is a heavy work to experience, but as an artist I feel it is only appropriate to raise awareness around the issue and show the people the horrors going on in the world.    The title of the work was inspired by the famous monument erected in 2001 to mark the occasion of the 10thanniversary of Ukraine’s Independence from the Soviet Union. At that point it appropriately replaced the monument of Vladimir Lenin. Towering on top of Kyiv’s Independence Square (famously known as Maidan) at 200 feet, this obelisk celebrates the nature of the Ukrainian independent spirit and directly reflects my ideas through this musical composition with the hope that the powerful Ukrainian nation will prevail over its enemy once again.  This PDF includes Score and Parts.

Arranged by Rob Bushnell. 19th Century,Classical,Religious,Romantic Period,Sacred. Brass Band. 79 pages. Rob Bushnell #1049258. Published by Rob Bushnell (A0.1471485). Composed between 1887 and 1890, Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem is not only one of his best-known works but one of the most popular piece of choral music in the Classical repertoire, coming 23rd in the Classic FM’s Hall of Fame 2024. Believed to be a tribute to his father (who died in 1885), Fauré himself said “My Requiem wasn't written for anything – for pleasure, if I may call it that!” It started life as a five-movement work but was later expanded to be the final seven-movement work we know today. The first version (which Fauré called “un petit Requiem”) was first performed on 16 January 1888, with Fauré conducting, a second version premiered on 21 January 1893 before the final version (reworked for full orchestra) was played on 12 July 1900; the Requiem was performed at the composer’s own funeral in 1924.The Libera Me, or Deliver Me, was actually written in 1877 and is the sixth part of the Requiem.Fauré once said of the work, “Everything I managed to entertain by way of religious illusion I put into my Requiem, which moreover is dominated from beginning to end by a very human feeling of faith in eternal rest. Upon interview, he also said, “It has been said that my Requiem does not express the fear of death and someone has called it a lullaby of death. But it is thus that I see death: as a happy deliverance, an aspiration towards happiness above, rather than as a painful experience. The music of Gounod has been criticised for its inclination towards human tenderness. But his nature predisposed him to feel this way: religious emotion took this form inside him. Is it not necessary to accept the artist's nature? As to my Requiem, perhaps I have also instinctively sought to escape from what is thought right and proper, after all the years of accompanying burial services on the organ! I know it all by heart. I wanted to write something different.”This arrangement is for the UK-style brass band, with alternative parts for horns in F and bass-clef lower brass. A recording of the original composition can be found here on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXwFNoBHCf0.

Published by Forton Music - Digital (F2.FM586). ISBN 9790570484850.This piece was written for Elisabeth Hobbs for use on her Flutes Inspired courses for adult players. I worked with her on a jazz flute day with one of her groups and this had taken place in Marsh Baldon in rural Oxfordshire. This peculiar name kept buzzing around in my head and eventually collided with the memory of a classic BBC Radio comedy show, Much Binding in the Marsh. So, as the piece progressed I was happy that it took on a bit of a vintage, jaunty, radio comedy lilt, with a fairly episodic structure - themes coming in and out, perhaps like characters in a comedy - although I wouldn't go so far as to say the piece is 'humorous'. The harmonic and rhythmic language is somewhere between jazz and 'fusion' whilst, I feel, maintaining a sort of BBC archive decorum.

Small Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.767547 Composed by Mike Lyons. Contemporary. Score and parts. 32 pages. Lyons Music Services #5743867. Published by Lyons Music Services (A0.767547). Allegro Spiritoso came about in response to the Covid-19 lockdown. I had been looking for inspiration for a new brass piece and these ideas finally gelled into this single movement work. The opening requires controlled flutter tonguing from the trumpets and glissandos from both the horns and the trombone. This first set of ideas are angry and frustrated, coming in sharp and bitter contrasts between the fluttering of the trumpets and the repetitive semitone on the tuba. Although in F (concert) this section really doesn't have a key centre. Each outburst instead uses a set of pitches ultimately derived from the Gregorian chant of the Dies Irae which appears later in the piece.I imagined how it must feel to be trapped in the house for weeks on end by the lockdown and the fear of catching the virus, combined with the lack of any real leadership from the British government. The interlocking tuba, trombone and horn rhythms (occasionally passed to 2nd. trumpet) drive the music forward and represent, in a way, the mutating virus which underlies all the troubled emotions caused by the lockdown itself and the feelings of isolation and, indeed, abandonment which many people feel.Half way between letters B and C, the trombone plays a kind of distorted motif reminiscent of a Chorale melody which leads us into a section devoted to those who have died (and continue to die) because of the disease. From letter C to the end, the main melodic motifs come from the Dies Irae, part of the Catholic Mass for the Dead (Requiem). Stated first in the Trumpets, the Tuba takes over the melody in augmentation with fragments passed around the ensemble with interjections from the angry motifs of the first section. Finally, the music begins to quieten and work towards the finish. The Dies Irae melody is reduced to a kind of skeleton of itself (all repeated notes removed) which ends the piece over the tuba/horn ostinato. The whole piece is 2 minutes and 57 seconds long and is - though quite by accident - an exact multiple of 19 bars long (114).It's a very dramatic and angry piece and therefore is quite dissonant. Maybe not to everyone's taste, but well worth a listen.

Large Ensemble Bassoon,Clarinet,Double Bass,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1124411 Composed by Antonin Dvorak. Arranged by Ray Thompson. Romantic Period. Score and parts. 55 pages. RayThompsonMusic #725159. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1124411). Arranged double wind quintet/bass The String Quartet in F major, Op. 96, nicknamed the American Quartet, is the 12th string quartet composed by AntonÃn Dvořák. It was written in 1893, during Dvořák's time in the United States. The quartet is one of the most popular in the chamber music repertoire. For the London premiere of his New World symphony, Dvořák wrote: As to my opinion I think that the influence of this country (it means the folk songs)) is to be seen, and that this and all other works (written in America) differ very much from my other works as well as in colour as in character,. A characteristic, unifying element throughout the quartet is the use of the pentatonic scale. This scale gives the whole quartet its open, simple character, a character that is frequently identified with American folk music. However, the pentatonic scale is common in many ethnic musics worldwide, and Dvořák had composed pentatonic music, being familiar with such Slavonic folk music examples, before coming to America Specific American influences have been doubted: In fact the only American thing about the work is that it was written there, writes Paul Griffiths. The specific American qualities of the so-called American Quartet are not easily identifiable, writes Lucy Miller, ...Better to look upon the subtitle as simply one assigned because of its composition during Dvořák's American tour. This is my arrangement of the 4th movement: Finale (Vivace ma non troppo) It is in a traditional rondo form, A–B–A–C–A–B–A. The main melody is pentatonic. The B section is more lyrical, but continues in the spirit of the first theme. The C section is a chorale theme. I have adapted the string music for winds, and included some sustained horn chords. It has a similar feel to the finale of Dvorak’s wind serenade in D minor op.44.

Piano Trio No. 1 Poets and Prophets (piano score – piano, vln, cel) MO160APiano Score (parts available)Music by Mark O’Connor51 pages - 29:00 minutes in lengthI. Man In BlackII. The Tennessee TwoIII. My JuneIV. Hello, I’m Johnny CashPiano Trio No. 1 (Poets and Prophets) was composed by Mark O’Connor during the Fall of 2003. The piece was commissioned for the Eroica Trio by a noted patron for music, Kathryn Gould of Palo Alto, California. The world premiere took place at the Montalvo Chamber Music Series in California, March 5th, 2004. In a letter to the members of the trio dated 9/20/03, Mr. O’Connor lays out his plan for the new music. My initial ideas have sort of exploded in to the entire concept of the music with a real impact actually. Now I am piecing together the parts of it and then will eventually work on detail as I get the overall form under wrap. Here is what my inspiration for the music is; Johnny Cash.Johnny was a boyhood hero of mine, I used to sing his songs when I was 8, 9 and 10 years old, and played the guitar like him (sometimes up the fretboard strumming away). My mom used to help me transcribe all the lyrics off the albums, she also thought he hung the moon. As you can imagine, the passing of Cash for me this last week has been emotional. I am at my very best when I compose with my emotions at my sleeve, and guess what, it is time to do the Eroica piece. And I believe I will be able to craft a very unique tribute in to the form of a Piano Trio. There is something that is very fitting in all of this though. Cash was one of the few country music and rockabilly musicians to appeal to all ages, all types of people all the way into the MTV generation which is something that is hard to fathom. That one person can move musical mountains with his charisma and his voice. He sung about the prisons, riding the trains, about killing, and living, about lost love, about the gospel, about the downtrodden and the Native American, and about being stoned. His musical sound was the thing that got everybody though. He developed along with his guitar player Luther Perkins, a new and vibrant way to bring the music out.I also knew Johnny and worked with him, visited him privately at his home. Johnny also appeared on my album called Heroes, where he brought back the great story of the Devil coming down to Georgia to challenge young Johnny for the golden fiddle. My job now is to bridge what I am feeling about my inspiration for Cash, and bring it in to the instruments that I love writing for.I might not have imagined that this Johnny Cash concept would have worked out of hand, if it hadn’t been for your musicianship, insight fullness and graceful approaches in to the details of musical concepts and style. If the piece is good, then I will have no doubt that you will bring it to the forefront so others can grasp the intentions of the work, and in addition for others to enjoy playing it after you have brought it all out in to the open, and gave it a life. Original music printed from the composer’s manuscripts.Music editing, copying and engraving by Mark O’Connorusing Finale on Apple Macintosh 2003 Composed by Mark O’ConnorCan be heard on An American Journey by the Eroica Trio, Angel RecordsMark O’Connor Piano Trio with Soyeon Lee and Soo Bae soon to be released on OMAC Records Catalogue Number MO160A

Guitar Ensemble Guitar - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.797799 Composed by Ronald Hazlehurst and Ronnie Hazlehurst. Arranged by Derek Hasted. Contemporary,Film/TV. Score and parts. 12 pages. Derek Hasted #6109013. Published by Derek Hasted (A0.797799). LAST OF THE SUMMER WINE - GUITAR TRIO or LARGE ENSEMBLEFor Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar.Derek Hasted writes This charming piece has become incredibly well-known in the UK as the theme tune to the TV series of the same name - one of the UK’s longest running comedies. The music elegantly captures the calm of country life and the simplicity of times gone by, and makes for a refreshing and accessible concert item whether you know the original music or not.In my arrangement, Guitar 1 and Guitar 2 take turns to play the tune - each part is clearly labelled - and the weaving motifs of the haunting melody are underpinned by an accompaniment that mirrors the rhythm and harmony of the original.Fingering for the upper parts is left to the players - some may want to stay up the neck throughout for a rich and mellow tone, others may feel more confident coming lower down the neck for the lower notes to keep the majority of them off the wire-wound strings.I hope you enjoy playing this piece! This is one of a large and growing range of accessible ensembles from experienced arranger Derek Hasted, and is supplied as full score and parts. Derek's website at www.derek-hasted.co.uk/smp lists all his arrangements by title and by number of instruments, with links to soundclips and sample score.

B-Flat Trumpet,Percussion,Piano - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1201730 Composed by Brandon Nelson. 20th Century,Chamber,Classical,Contemporary,Contest,Festival. 37 pages. Brandon Nelson #800346. Published by Brandon Nelson (A0.1201730). Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and his theory on how colors impacted mental states was the inspiration for this piece. He was far more gifted with prose than I, so I’ll him explain further:We shall not be surprised to find that [colours’] effects are at all times decided and significant, and that they are immediately associated with the emotions of the mind.Colour, considered as an element of art, may be made subservient to the highest aesthetical needs.General impressions produced by single colours cannot be changed[.] They act specifically and must produce definite, specific states in the living organ. Experience teaches us that particular colours excite particular states of feeling.Goethe goes on to detail these notions in an elaborate, deeply imaginative treatise. Sadly for him, this work was coming out just as the science of optics had begun to give the world an empirical understanding of color, leaving Goethe’s romantic ideas in the margins. But it is those ideas that I find intriguing from a poetic viewpoint, and, in this composition, I shed musical light unto his dramatic descriptions of several different colors.“Yellow-Red†is described as “primordial, impetuous, robust,†to the point of eliciting “extreme excitement†which disturbs and enrages even animals!“Yellow†is portrayed as that being nearest to natural light. It is of “utmost purity and beauty[….] Serene, gay, softly exciting.â€The color “Red-Blue†we are told is “something lively without gladness.â€â€œBlue†is steeped in darkness, a “contradiction between excitement and repose.†It gives one the “impression of cold.†and brings to mind melancholy.

Classical,Contest,Festival,Instructional,Multicultural,Romantic Period,World. Score and parts. 26 pages. Regis Bookshar #692071. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1087842). Coronation March, TH 50, CW 47 by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Violin Octet - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download. This marvelous arrangement of Peter Tchaikovsky's Coronation March, sometimes called Festival March or Festival Coronation March, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts, recitals and other festive occasions. This arrangement keeps all of the intensity and excitement of the original composition and is suitable for high school and college students. Professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (26 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available to the public for the first time. The Coronation March was ordered by the city of Moscow for the coronation of Tsar Alexander III in 1883. It was written during March of 1883 and was performed for the first time on June 4, 1883 in Sokolniky Park in Moscow, conducted by Sergei Taneyev. The music then included excerpts of the anthem, God Save the Tsar. The American premiere was on May 5, 1891, for the opening concert of Carnegie Hall in New York City, conducted by Tchaikovsky himself. During the Soviet Era, Russian performances and recordings of the music were revised to omit the excerpts from the Czarist national anthem, replacing it with thematic material used earlier in the march, due to an official Soviet ban on the anthem. Starting with Dmitri Medvedev's inauguration in 2008, an abbreviated version of this piece is played during the Russian presidential inauguration accompanying the entrance of the incoming president, and ends well before the playing in this piece of the Tsarist anthem God Save the Tsar. Unlike Tchaikovsky's other major compositions, the Coronation March does not have an opus number. It has been given alternative catalogue designations TH 50 and CW 47. Tchaikovsky's Coronation March was originally scored for a full orchestra and written in the key of D Major. Regis Bookshar has now created an abbreviated version, written in Db Major, and has arranged it for a Violin Octet. In addition to this arrangement of Tchaikovsky's Coronation March for a Violin Octet, other arrangements of this festive composition for various instrumental ensembles are also available. Please feel free to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar as there are many more arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you as well, and please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I'm certain that this wonderful arrangement of Tchaikovsky's Coronation March will continue to entertain both audiences and performers alike for years to come.

Woodwind Ensemble Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Horn - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1087855 Composed by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Classical,Contest,Festival,Instructional,Multicultural,Romantic Period,World. 27 pages. Regis Bookshar #692085. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1087855). Coronation March, TH 50, CW 47 by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Woodwind Octet - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (27 pages). Regis Bookshar has now created an abbreviated version, written in Db Major, and has arranged it for a Woodwind Octet, consisting of 3 Flutes, 3 Bb Clarinets, 1 French Horn and 1 Bassoon. In addition to this arrangement of Tchaikovsky's Coronation March for a Woodwind Octet, other arrangements of this festive composition for various instrumental ensembles are also available.
