The aim was to create a great solo unplugged coffee-house version with no page turns, though it could still be really useful for any situation. The melody is left intact, some liberties with the harmonies were taken when there is singing. I'm very proud and happy with how it turned out, sometimes you get lucky and the sections fall perfectly into place (which is suprising since there are some odd 3 measure phrases in here). Features:1. Beginner friendly. The chords are so accurate to what the sheet music is doing, that you don't even really need to read sheet music to play this!2. Harmonies that take difficulty, style, voice leading, and melody into consideration3. Condensed lead sheet version that fits on 2 pages to avoid a page turn; yet it is packed with details and naunces.4. Beautifully engraved sections that visually make sense on the page.Tips:1. Measures 8-16 I named that chords as if both guitars were taken into consideration. I'm guilty of sometimes saying, Oh it's just a rock song with power chords, but then you look into the details, and the chords are actually quite jazzy.2. Maybe She sang needs a fermata?3. If a song is in B minor and never changes key, fret 1 will never happens! Be in position 2 for this song! That's why I didn't put fingerings in, they would have been as helpful as confusing.4. Maybe it's a given, but I recommend forcing melody notes on to the chord in one way or another. Sometimes I go on spurts of notating many complex chords to account for the melody, other times I just show one chord per measure but kind of assume that you'll make the guitar work more fancy with the melody notes. Maybe this is overthinking the arrangement, but there is great voicings I'm doing that I want to get across, but sometimes I won't do it because the score will get too busy looking. Just food for thought, depends on your agenda I suppose.

Published by Sally Whitwell (A0.873039). I first met the Acacia Quartet a couple of years back, playing in a show I put together for Sydney Philharmonia Choirs, T​ he Beatles Unplugged​. What a joy to discover a quartet of such expert musicians who are also so open to playing such a wide variety of music, from The Beatles to Brahms! I wrote this piece ​Winter Love​ for us to perform together.Composing a piece for specific performs is, I imagine, something like tailoring a bespoke suit. I wanted to give them something with which they could show off their unique versatility; creating rich, warm, blended sounds one minute and fiery, energetic, even whimsical tones the next. I didn’t want to write just a quartet at the time because, perhaps selfishly, I simply wanted to be a part of it!The title makes it seem like the work is programmatic, but it’s not. The song appears on the 1976 album Wings at the Speed of Sound. It was also released as a single in 1976, backed with Cook of the House. The song, written in response to John Lennon and music critics accusing McCartney of predominantly writing silly love songs and sentimental slush, also features disco overtones.The song was McCartney's 27th number one as a songwriter; the all-time record for the most number one hits achieved by a songwriter.With this song, McCartney became the first person to have a year-end No. 1 song as a member of two distinct acts. McCartney previously hit No. 1 in the year-end Billboard chart as a member of the Beatles with I Want to Hold Your Hand in 1964 and Hey Jude in 1968.Silly Love Songs has since appeared on multiple McCartney greatest hits compilations, including Wings Greatest and All the Best!. The song has also appeared on the Hits section of the compilation album Wingspan: Hits and History. Despite its popularity, McCartney has not performed the song live since the dissolution of Wings.Silly Love Songs was written as a rebuttal to music critics (as well as John Lennon) who had criticized McCartney for writing lightweight love songs. Author Tim Riley suggests that in the song, McCartney is inviting his audience to have a laugh on him, as Elvis Presley had sometimes done. But over the years people have said, Aw, he sings love songs, he writes love songs, he's so soppy at times. I thought, Well, I know what they mean, but, people have been doing love songs forever. I like 'em, other people like 'em, and there's a lot of people I love -- I'm lucky enough to have that in my life. So the idea was that you may call them silly, but what's wrong with that? The song was, in a way, to answer people who just accuse me of being soppy. The nice payoff now is that a lot of the people I meet who are at the age where they've just got a couple of kids and have grown up a bit, settling down, they'll say to me, I thought you were really soppy for years, but I get it now! An advanced-level jazz arrangement of Autumn in New York for unaccompanied 7-String Electric Violin. Although this was written on a 7-string, it also translates very well on a 6-string; there are only 2 passages that require the low Bb string, and these will sound fine taken up an octave. If you want to try this on a standard violin, well... good luck with the 5-note chords!I realize we extended-range violinists are few & far between, but if you (like me) appreciate the unique ability of this instrument to cover bass substitutions, chord melodies, and other roles that were previously thought exclusive to fretted/keyed instruments, this arrangement is an excellent demonstration of some of the really cool ways that you can bring a melody to life without the need for any effects or accompaniment. Silent Night On the bi-centenary of its composition, my arrangement of 'Silent Night’ for string trio gives all the instruments chance to shine with melody, counter melody and harmony by turns.
