Cello,Flute,Viola,Violin - Digital Download SKU: A0.1487809 Composed by Leopold Hofmann. Arranged by Allan Badley. Classical. 29 pages. Artaria Editions #1064747. Published by Artaria Editions (A0.1487809). The present work was advertised by Breitkopf in 1767 (Supplement II) but it was certainly composed in the previous year at the latest as the copy upon which this edition is based carries the performance date '15 Dezemb. 766' on the wrapper. A copy attributed to Joseph Haydn (and catalogued by Hoboken as II D6) is now preserved in the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Wien: 'Divertimento in D / Flauto Traverso unison / Violino Concertato / Viola di Alto Oblig. / con / Basso / Del Sigre Giuseppe Haydn M. Doc LXVS / a / uso di Antonio Schaarschmidt 1767'. This edition is based on a set of MS parts now held in the Austrian National Library under the shelfmark S.m.11946. The wrapper reads: 'No.5 [No.1] / Divertimento / a / Flauto Traverso / Violino / Viola / e / Basso / Del / Sige: Leopoldo Hoffmann'. In the absence of both the autograph score and an authentic set of parts, this edition presents as faithfully as possible the intentions of the composer as transmitted in the source. As is often the case in Hofmann's chamber music there are very few dynamic markings; these are left to the discretion and good taste of the performer. The style and notation of articulation and dynamic markings have been standardised throughout, and, where missing from the source, markings have been reconstructed from parallel passages. These are indicated by the use of dotted slurs or brackets. Like most eighteenth-century sources, the present manuscript is inconsistent at times in its notation of appoggiature ; these too have been standardised to minimise confusion. Obvious wrong notes have been corrected without comment; editorial emendations with no authority from the source are placed within brackets. Allan Badley.

Chamber Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1515703 Composed by Richard Mudge. Arranged by John Fleming. Baroque. 56 pages. Flemingmusic #1090054. Published by flemingmusic (A0.1515703). Concerto in D for Trumpet, Strings and Continuo by English composer Richard Mudge (1718 - 1763) This concerto is more closely related to a concerto grosso than a solo concerto. The form of the piece is more a French overture in two parts with a following movement then an Italian concerto. It is scored for Trumpet in D, Violin one and two, Viola, Cello, Double Bass and Harpsichord with figured bass. The speed of the first movement is open to interpretation. It is marked Vivace, but as you can hear in the youtube video featuring Maurice Andre, he plays the first movement quiet slow. I have written metronome marks for the first 2 movements, but please feel free to change these.I have included Trumpet parts for Trumpet in D, C & Bb as well as Piccolo Trumpet in A.

The arrangement incorporates a pedal note drone that can be played on any instrument and also includes an optional hand drum part. Vocal Range: Key of d minor Any clef One octave+ (A to D).

4fl. Afl. Bfl. Cafl. Cbfl - Intermediate - Digital Download SKU: F2.FM400 Composed by Maurice Ravel. Arranged by Robert Rainford. Arranged for Flute Ensemble/Choir - 4 Flutes, Alto Flute, Bass Flute, Contr'alto Flute, Contrabass Flute. Score and Parts. 12 pages. Forton Music - Digital #FM400. Published by Forton Music - Digital (F2.FM400). ISBN 9790570482993.Flute Ensemble (4 flutes, alto flute, bass flute, contr'alto flute, contrabass flute). Maurice Ravel wrote this exquisite miniature piece originally for piano in 1909, to mark the centenary of the death of the composer Franz Joseph Haydn. Ravel has used the letters of Haydn's name to give him the initial theme of the piece at the very start (flute 1 of this arrangement). B natural represents H, A and D represent their own letters, the next D represents the letter Y, and the final G represents N. This theme then weaves through the whole piece in various versions, sometimes upside down, and sometimes backwards. Many composers have used this method of using letters to give melodic pitches, from Josquin back in the fifteenth century all the way through to such twentieth century composers as Shostakovich, Messiaen and Elliott Carter. This arrangement uses just about the full range of flutes, including contr'alto and contrabass. Each flute has it's own independant part, and the 'HAYDN' theme is shared between them all.Whilst not technically difficult, it needs sensitive playing to balance the parts, and a strong sense of musical colour to make the most of the piece.

Instrumental Duet Harp,Instrumental Duet,Oboe d'Amore - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1098840 Composed by Johann Pachelbel. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Baroque,Classical,Standards,Traditional,Wedding. Score and parts. 11 pages. Jmsgu3 #702688. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1098840). Score: 6 pages. Duration: ca. 2:30 The famous Pachelbel Canon arranged for Oboe d'Amore & Harp. A great choice for weddings & receptions! Pachelbel's Canon Pachelbel's Canon is, in fact, the traditional title for a composition by the German composer Johann Pachelbel. Other names for the work include namely: Canon and Gigue for 3 violins and basso continuo, Canon and Gigue in D, and of course Canon in D. We do not know when or why in particular it was written. The oldest copy is surprisingly from the 19th century. It is important to realize that it was a common routine for organists to practice improvisation on the chord progression underlying the canon. Pachelbel originally scored the Canon notably for three violins and continuo. He also in fact paired the Canon with a gigue. The movements are homotonal, to clarify, both are in the key of D major. History In due time, Pachelbel's Canon went out of style and remained in virtual oblivion for centuries. The Jean-François Paillard chamber orchestra, however, recorded an arrangement of it in 1968. As a result, it gained approval. Many ensembles began likewise to record the piece in the 1970s and by the 1980s became ubiquitous as background music. From the 1970s to the early 2000s, pop songs correspondingly used elements of the piece. The chord progression, in particular, was used this way. Also, since the 1980s, it has been not only wildly popular for weddings, but also for funeral ceremonies in the USA and Europe. Pachelbel Background Johann Pachelbel (1653 –1706) was a German composer, as well as an organist. He was furthermore instrumental in bringing the south German organ school to its apex. He wrote a large body of music, both sacred and, equally important, secular. In particular, he uniquely helped develop the chorale prelude and fugue. For this, he has, in fact, earned a rightful place in the company of the most significant composers of the mid-Baroque period. Works Pachelbel's music was certainly popular. With this in mind, he also consequently had many pupils. His music expressly developed into a model for south German composers. Nowadays, Pachelbel is most famous, particularly for the Canon in D, as well as the F minor Chaconne, the Toccata in E minor, and of course the Hexachordum Apollinis, a set of variations for the keyboard. Influences Johann Jakob Froberger and Johann Caspar Kerll were south German composers who significantly influenced Pachelbel. Furthermore, he was especially influenced by Italians such as Frescobaldi and Poglietti. He frequently preferred an articulate, simple contrapuntal style that highlighted clarity. His music is markedly less extravagant and harmonically adventurous than that of Dieterich Buxtehude. However, as a point often overlooked, like Buxtehude, Pachelbel experimented with different instrumental combinations in his chamber music. Legacy All in all, Pachelbel was most famous as a composer for the keyboard. He composed over two hundred pieces specifically for the instrument. Pachelbel was also surprisingly a prolific composer of vocal music. All in all, about a hundred vocal works survive, including 40 or so large-scale works.

Duration: ca. 2:30 The famous Pachelbel Canon arranged for Alto Clarinet & Harp.

Score and individual part. 23 pages. Jmsgu3 #3602937. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549891). Score: 12 pages, piano part: 6 pages, oboe d'amore part: 4 pages. duration: ca. 5'. This is the famous wedding march from Op. 61 composed in 1842 and commonly performed as a recessional march at the end of a wedding. The piece was originally composed for orchestra then arranged for organ and performed by Mendelssohn himself.Mendelssohn: Wedding March Mendelssohn’s Wedding March is so popular that it’s difficult to imagine a wedding without it. It seems like it’s been around for eternity. In any case, it was only 150 years or so ago that the Wedding March came about. It was performed in Potsdam for the first time in 1842, as a piece of Mendelssohn’s music for the Shakespeare play A Midsummer Night’s Dream. It was first used for a wedding in 1858 Mendelssohn Background Felix Mendelssohn (1809 –1847) was, by all means, a German mastermind composer, musician and orchestra conductor of the Romantic period. Consequently, Mendelssohn composed in the usual forms of the time - symphonies, concertos, oratorios, piano music, and chamber music. To summarize, his most famous works include his music for A Midsummer Night's Dream, the Italian Symphony, the Scottish Symphony, The Hebrides Overture, his later Concerto for Violin & Orchestra, and his Octet for Strings. His most well-known piano pieces, by and large, are the Songs Without Words. Artistic Standing Musical tastes change from time to time. Moreover, just such a change occurred in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This plus rampant antisemitism brought a corresponding amount of undue criticism. Fortunately, however, his artistic inventiveness has indeed been critically re-evaluated. As a result, Mendelssohn is once again among the most prevalent composers of the Romantic era. Early Family Life Mendelssohn was, in fact, born into a prominent Jewish family. His grandfather was, notably, the philosopher Moses Mendelssohn. Felix was, in fact, raised without religion. At the age of seven, he was all of a sudden baptized as a Reformed Christian. He was, moreover, a child musical prodigy. Nevertheless, his parents did not attempt to exploit his talent. Early Adulthood Mendelssohn was, in general, successful in Germany. He conducted, in particular, a revival of the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, specifically with his presentation of the St Matthew Passion in 1829. Felix was truly in demand throughout Europe as a composer, conductor, and soloist. For example, he visited Britain ten times. There, he premiered, namely, many of his major works. His taste in music was. To be sure, inventive and well-crafted yet markedly conservative. This conservatism separated him by all means from more audacious musical colleagues like Liszt, Wagner, and Berlioz. Mendelssohn founded the Leipzig Conservatoire which, to clarify, became a defender of this conservative viewpoint. Mature Adulthood Schumann notably wrote that Mendelssohn was the Mozart of the nineteenth century, the most brilliant musician, the one who most clearly sees through the contradictions of the age and for the first time reconciles them. This observation points to a couple of features in particular that illustrate Mendelssohn's works and his artistic procedure. Musical Features In the first place, his musical style was fixed in his methodical mastery of the style of preceding masters. This being said, he certainly recognized and even developed early romanticism from the music of Beethoven and Weber. Secondly, it indicates that Mendelssohn sought to strengthen his inherited musical legacy rather than to exchange it with new forms and styles or replace it with exotic orchestration. Consequently, he diverged his contemporaries in the romantic period, such as Wagner, Berlioz, and Liszt. Mendelssohn revered Liszt's vir.

Duration: 4:25 Not difficult, but requires sensitivity & dynamic control. Suitable for recitals, church meditations, or school programs. Dvořák Background AntonÃn Dvořák (1841 –1904) was, of course, a composer from Czechoslovakia. As a matter of fact, he was among the first Bohemian composers to attain universal recognition. It is important to realize that the late Romantic Nationalist period featured composers who used traditional and folk elements to portray the character of their nation. In particular, we see this in the music of Grieg (Norway), Finland (Sibelius), and Smetana (Bohemia).  Dvořák relied markedly on rhythms and other characteristics of Moravian and Bohemian folk music. Ascent to Fame Dvořák was truly a child musical prodigy on the violin. The premiere performances of his compositions notably occurred in 1872 and 1873. He submitted his First Symphony in particular to a German competition, but it failed to win. Consequently, in 1874 he presented two more symphonies to the Austrian State Prize for Composition. Johannes Brahms was the principal of the jury and was accordingly very impressed. They forthwith awarded the prize to Dvořák in 1874, 1876, and 1877. At this point, Brahms thereupon endorsed Dvořák to the publisher Simrock. Later, the publisher commissioned Dvořák to compose the Slavonic Dances, Op. 46. These became popular overnight and, as a result, Dvořák's worldwide status was launched. International Status Dvořák visited England upon invitation nine times. On each visit, he frequently conducted performances of his own compositions. He conducted concerts of his music, especially in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Eventually, the Prague Conservatory in fact appointed Dvořák as a professor. There, to be sure, he wrote his famous Dumky Trio. United States Consequently, the National Conservatory of Music of America appointed him as director in 1892. As a result, Dvořák composed his two most famous symphonic works: the Symphony No. 9 (From the New World), which spread his name universally, and his Concerto for Cello and Orchestra, one of the most famous of all cello works. Moreover, he wrote his most celebrated American String Quartet during this time. At the same time, because of his growing recognition in Europe and his homesickness for his own country, he left to return to Bohemia in 1895. Â
