This very famous mexican folk song arrangement is for band with sets of parts (Bb trumpet, bass guitar, el. guitar. drumset).La Adelita is one of the most famous corridos of the Mexican Revolution. Over the years, it has had many adaptations. The ballad was inspired by a Chihuahuense woman who joined the Maderista movement in the early stages of the revolution and fell in love with Madero. She became a popular icon and a symbol of the role of women in the Mexican Revolution. The figure of the adelita gradually became synonymous with the term soldadera, the woman in a military-support (and sometimes fighting) role, who became a vital force in the revolutionary efforts through provisioning, espionage, and other activities in the battles against Mexican federal government forces.[1] However, the song, the portrait, and the role of its subject have been given different, often conflicting, interpretations. It has also been argued that 'La Adelita' expressed the sensitivity and vulnerability of men, emphasizing the stoicism of the rebellious male soldier as he confronts the prospect of death.[2] In another interpretation, the feminist scholar MarÃa Herrara-Sobek argues, Adelita's bravery and revolutionary spirit are lost to the fatalism and insecurities of male soldiers who are focused on passions, love, and desire as they face combat.[2]

The opera opens with the former Czar lamenting his fall from power and precarious circumstances. Anastasia dramatically portrays a dream she has just had. Then, in an upbrat song of hope she explains her optimistic outlook in My Name Is Anastasia. This arrangement of a Strauss march is intended for double reed duo of oboe and bassoon, but the upper part is also playable by flute.In his lifetime, Austrian composer Johann Strauss II (1825 – 1899) was dubbed ‘The Waltz King’, reflecting his prolific output of this type of dance music. He also composed polkas, quadrilles, marches, operettas and a ballet. During the 1848 upheavals in the Austrian Empire, Johann II opted to side with the revolutionaries. This allegiance had an adverse effect on his career, as well as deepening the rift between him and his father, so in due course Johann wrote several marches with titles that might encourage the establishment to forget his past pro-revolutionary sympathies. The Ottinger Reiter-Marsch was first published in 1850. Strauss claimed that the work had been commissioned for a regiment who specifically requested the dedication to General Franz von Ottinger. At the time, Ottinger was not very popular, largely because of his punitive attitude towards former revolutionaries.

The opera was commissioned by the University of Edinburgh School of Chemistry to celebrate its Tercentenary year in 2013. The other characters in the opera are Chrissie Miller (a trailblazer for gender equality in the sciences) and James Kendall (an expert in chemical warfare). The opera received its premiere in the Assembly Rooms, Edinburgh, Scotland on 24 October 2013 in a production supported by Scottish Opera and conducted by Derek Clark.For the first time, the full score and instrumental parts are available to purchase online today.

A short Flute Ensemble chorale on 'Chester'written and composed by William Billings.The original composition was created and formed in the midst of the American Revolutionary War around 1778. It was one of the most famous songs that came out of that era. Chester was one of the published pieces included inside a book of anthems called The Singing Master's Assistant. A collection of church music 'hymns' for all purposes during the Revolution within the New England colonies. Many of the soldiers and troops of the Continental Army would keep themselves occupied by singing hymn verses around tents and campfires during their time at war. Here is a short excerpt of one of his original hymns written by Billings himself: What grateful Off'ring shall we bring? What shall we render to this Lord? Loud Hallelujah let us sing, And praise His name on Ev'ry Chord. This is a flute choir arrangement of William Billings original hymn of Chester. May you play it reverently!

The work The Shepherd’s Song by Felix Mendelssohn, presented as a reprint for the first time, is his only known original composition for flute. Although Mendelssohn frequently and skilfully used wind instruments in his orchestral works, he never provided them with significant parts, neither in his chamber music works not as solo instrument, which may have been due to the technical shortcomings of the instrument prior to the revolutionary inventions of Theobald Böhm. The short composition The Shepherd’s Song was published for the first time after the death of the composer in 1889, including an additional piano accompaniment and an alternative violin part. The arranger and editor was the organist and composer Berthold Tours (1838-1897). Since the flute literature contains only few musical pieces of major composers of the Romantic era, it is surprising that this composition, which had been printed more than 100 years ago, has remained undiscovered for such a long time, thus remaining widely unknown to the public until today. The Shepherd’s Song can be performed with flute (violin) solo or with the piano accompaniment by Berthold Tours.The Shepherd’s Song ist Mendelssohns einzige bekannte Originalkomposition für Flöte.
