Cello Duet Cello - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1508659 By Aaron Sinnett. By Jean-Baptiste Bréval. Arranged by Aaron Sinnett. 19th Century,Baroque,Chamber,Classical. Score. 89 pages. Aaron Sinnett #1083923. Published by Aaron Sinnett (A0.1508659). Jean-Baptiste Bréval, Six Sonatas, Op. 40Score and parts included. (Minimal markings, no additional edits, i.e. no fingerings or bowing added)As per the tradition of the era, Bréval composed the Cello solo and the bass line, leaving the chord making up to the performer. This means that there is originally no piano accompaniment part by Bréval. (If you are familiar with any sonata by said composer, it is likley No. 1 in C major, as it appears in volume 4 of a popular method, which is supplied with a piano accompoaniment.) Even so, as many can attest, most sonatas of the Baroque/early Classical periods are beautiful performed with two cellos, or cello duet.In this edition, I have made the notation modern, the layout clean and clear, as well as providing the score of the two original parts and individual parts, labeled Cello 1 and Cello 2. (For those wishing for historical accuracy in part naming Cello 2 should more appropriately be labelled Basso.) I have elevated it to Cello 2 simply to encourage the performance of this excellent set of sonatas with two cellos. I believe they sound very good this way in spite of being traditionally expected to be performed with a chord making instrument like a keyboard in addition to the solo cello and bass instrument. Thus, making it a trio. The Table of contents is the following without being overly detailed (one of the preview pages will have incipits from all six sonatas as is the custom when printing a complete set of pieces in a single volume).  Sonata No. 1 in C major Sonata No. 2 in F major Sonata No. 3 in G major Sonata No. 4 in Bb major Sonata No. 5 in A major Sonata No. 6 in D major Each sonata is two movements long. They all have first movements with the customary Sonata Allegro form. The seconds movements vary from RONDOs to Minuets to a set of variations. It is my sincere hope that more of these sonatas be learned and performed as they are not only great learning material, Bréval has crafted each one masterfully.

Instrumental Duet Contrabassoon,Instrumental Duet - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.612801 Composed by Jean Baptiste Loeillet of Ghent (1688 – 1720). Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Baroque,Contest,Festival,Standards,Traditional,Wedding. Score and parts. 59 pages. Jmsgu3 #221995. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.612801). John Baptist Loeillet, a Flemish Baroque composer, wrote six sonatas for flute and basso continuo in his Op. 5 No. 2. This work is widely considered to be some of his most significant compositions, and they are still performed today. The sonatas are divided into three movements each, with two slow movements and one faster one. The flute part is very demanding, as Loeillet often wrote in the high register, and the accompanying basso continuo part provides a solid foundation for the piece. The music has an emotional intensity that was characteristic of the Baroque era, and it features various ornamentations, like trills and mordents. The influence of Corelli can be heard in the contrapuntal textures, and the melodic lines are often based on the scales and modes of the period.Loeillet's Op. 5 No. 2 is a beautiful and captivating work, and its timelessness is a testament to its quality. It has been transcribed and adapted for other instruments, and it remains a popular choice for many classical musicians.Contents:Sonata No. 1 Duration: 9:45 Score: 8 pages 1. Vivace 2. VivaceDuration: 9:30 Score: 13 pagesGeorge Frideric Handel is one of the most celebrated composers of the Baroque era. He composed many genres of music, but he is best known for his large-scale choral works, including operas, oratorios, and cantatas. He was also highly respected for his chamber music and sonatas. Handel's chamber music was composed for small groups of instruments and was often used for private performances. His sonatas were written for a single instrument and often included a keyboard instrument. Handel was renowned for his ability to blend melodic ideas and inventive harmonies into his compositions, creating a unique and personal style. His works continue to be performed today, and his chamber music and sonatas are some of the most beloved pieces of music from the Baroque period. Handel's duet output was particularly noteworthy, and he wrote some of the most iconic and beloved duets in music history. His duets were often set in a homophonic texture, allowing the two voices to move together in harmony and melody. Handel also employed polyphonic techniques in his duets, using complex counterpoint and rhythmic devices to create rich, textured works. His duets often featured ornate melodies and rich harmonies, creating a full sound that was both beautiful and moving. Handel's duets are still some of the most popular works in classical music today, and they continue to be performed and enjoyed by audiences around the world.

Woodwind Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.811704 Composed by Joseph Bodin De Boismortier (1689 - 1755). Arranged by Edited & arranged by Pat Spence. Baroque,Concert,Standards. 43 pages. Piper Publications #4338647. Published by Piper Publications (A0.811704). SONATA No. 1 in A MAJOR SONATA No. 2 in E MINOR SONATA No. 3 in D MAJOR Written for 2 equal instruments these sonatas bring pleasure to players of intermediate standard and above whilst developing their independent playing skills. Each sonata has 4 movements slow and fast alternating in the same key. The six opus 8 sonatas were published in Paris in 1725 for ‘deux Flûtes-Transversiere sans Basse’. They were published ‘Avec Privilége du Roy.’ They were printed as a playing score preceeded by a title page which also gave details of where to obtain copies - L’Auter, Le Sr. Boivin & Le Sr. Le Clere. A copy of the Privilége du Roy. granted by King Louis on March 22nd 1724 was printed in full on the second page. It is highly likely that the sonatas would have been played by pairs of oboes or violins or possibly by bassoons or cellos according to the players available in the homes of the wealthy amateur players who could afford to buy music. The flute parts were printed in the soprano clef - with G on the bottom line. This would have been convenient for flute players who often also played bassoon when required and were often not keyboard players. This edition uses the modern bass clef and has a score plus separate parts to facilitate page turns. In editing the sonatas the presentation of the music has been modernised.

Bring your best espressivo and plan to rehearse the many subtle dynamic changes.Sonata Pathétique Op. 13 First of all, this is an arrangement of the second movement of Beethoven’s Sonata Pathétique. It seems like Beethoven wrote this piece before becoming troubled by deafness. Published in 1799, it consequently remains one of the most celebrated pieces Beethoven ever wrote. Also, certainly of extreme importance are the noteworthy 32 sonatas for the piano; the string quartets 1-16; the Missa solemnis; and likewise, his only opera, Fidelio. Beethoven Overview First of all, Beethoven was born and consequently raised in Bonn. Upon turning 21 he moved to Vienna probably to study composition with Haydn. VivaceDuration: 9:15 Score: 14 PagesGeorge Frideric Handel is one of the most celebrated composers of the Baroque era. His works continue to be performed today, and his chamber music and sonatas are some of the most beloved pieces of music from the Baroque period.Handel's duet output was particularly noteworthy, and he wrote some of the most iconic and beloved duets in music history.

AllegroII. AdagioIII. AllegroJ.S. Bach's Trio Sonatas BWV 525-530 are some of the most popular and beloved works of the Baroque period. Composed in 1717, these six trio sonatas for the organ are among Bach's earliest works for the instrument. They are all in the traditional three-movement form and are composed in the style of the Italian concerto grosso, with two upper voices (treble and alto) and a basso continuo. The two upper voices often intertwine in intricate contrapuntal melodies, while the basso continuo provides harmonic support. The works are also full of virtuosic passages that demonstrate Bach's mastery of the organ. The Trio Sonatas are considered to be among the most important and influential works of the Baroque era, and they continue to be widely performed and studied today. The Bach Trio Sonatas have been successfully transcribed for a variety of ensembles, including wind, string, and brass ensembles. The parts are easily divided among a variety of wind instruments, including flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, and saxophone. In these transcriptions, the original material is retained, but often with some additional orchestration or embellishment. These transcriptions often emphasize the polyphonic texture of the original works, creating a rich soundscape.  The Sonatas have also been successfully adapted for a variety of string ensembles. In these versions, the original two-part texture with the basso is maintained, creating a full and satisfying sound that allows for a more nuanced interpretation of the works. In addition, these transcriptions often add a variety of dynamic markings and articulations that were not present in the original editions. These transcriptions provide performers with a variety of options for interpreting and performing these beloved works.

Instrumental Duet Harpsichord,Instrumental Duet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.808939 Composed by Domenico Scarlatti. Arranged by Fabrizio Aiello. Baroque,Classical. Score and parts. 32 pages. Preludio s.r.l. #5712611. Published by Preludio s.r.l. (A0.808939). The over 550 harpsichord sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti constitute one of the highest peaks of 18th century instrumental music. Despite being structured in a single movement, based on a theme and divided into two parts with a refrain, his sonatas have been shown to be pieces of remarkable originality. Their style is authentic and very bright, revealing a truly innovative and creative spirit with extremely daring and unconventional dissonances and modulations. The manifold contaminations come from the musical universe of that time: from the concert to the cantata, from the popular elements to the Spanish dance rhythms. Various sounds are recalled through the spontaneous, evocative and natural timbre of the harpsichord: from the orchestral ones to those of two other famous pinch instruments, such as the guitar and the harp. The greatest researcher on Domenico Scarlatti, Ralph Kirkpatrick, claimed: «Despite being a composer for harpsichord, and although almost all his compositions are conceived for the harpsichord language, his musical skills, more important than the sound effect, can be enhanced on any instrument».This aspect is aptly reflected in the harp versions of Scarlatti’s sonatas, which are primarily a way to show how the harp can represent the spirit and the playfulness of these compositions. Apparently, this instrument is one of the most suitable to capture the purity of the musical textures of these sonatas and their perfect balance between musical mathematics and feelings. Moreover, the didactic purposes of these adaptations are notable, since the player is faced with fast scales, double stops, repeated notes, broken octaves, complex arpeggios, embellishments and other unusual passages pervaded by a virtuoso language.By carefully selecting every single sonata and choosing the most suitable fingerings to highlight key phrases, Fabrizio Aiello has carried out a praiseworthy work which plays a crucial role in enriching the harp repertoire.Susanna Bertuccioli
