It is mostly played in 1st position (a few spots higher on neck), using folk-country chord voicings, with some softer jazz major 7th, major 9th, minor 9th chords. It is a fairly easy intermediate level piece (as far as technical difficulty), but can sound very professional as well. This sheet music is in Standard notation with TAB... (a version in Standard notation without TAB is also available). At 15, he became a protégé of jazz guitarist Joe Pass, and later studied classical guitar under Vincent Macaluso, and at California State University, Northridge under Ronald Purcell, with a master class under Andrés Segovia. Brad was featured performing Gerald Wilson's Sonata for Guitar and Orchestra at the Hollywood Bowl, with the composer conducting. Brad was mentored in composition by David Rose (composer for Little House on the Prairie). Brad has composed music for TV, including Hill Street Blues and The 'A' Team, working with Mike Post. Brad has ten albums as The Candlelight Guitarist. When not making music, Brad is often out hiking with his four dogs. This musical theme is based on an ancient Spanish romance, whose oldest form appears in a gothic parchment dating from the 15th century. The most recent or modern version of this romance is from the last third of the 19th century. The version given here, Little Coal-Heaver Boy, is one of the best known. This arrangement was a mandatory piece in the thirteenth edition of the renowned International Guitar Contest sponsored by French Radio in 1987-1988. These variations were dedicated to Robert J. Vidal, contest founder and were composed in Puerto Rico in the year 1986. They are presented here in notation only. The recording was made in 1988 by Scott Tennant. Intermediate to advanced in difficulty. Includes access to online audio.

A collection of pieces from the music composed by Antonio Gervasoni in 2006 for a setting of the play Los árboles mueren de pie (Trees die standing tall) by Spanish playwright Alejandro Casona. Comedy, drama, suspense and romance are all mixed up in this play that tells a heartbreaking story about love and the courage to face life’s hardest blows. Although this set of pieces was written with Casona’s play in mind, it can certainly be used as incidental music for any other tragicomedy, in which case, the pieces may have to be adapted accordingly. This score has been designed so that it serves also as the part for the keyboard player. This would let him assume the role of music director and thus ensure that the music is synchronized with the action and dialogues. All other parts have been included after the score of the final movement. Note: being that the play is in Spanish, the score and all the texts in it are also in Spanish.
