Awesome music for an awesome short film. This arrangement keeps all the soul of the original song, adding new parts to make you feel the music beneath your skin. Our arrangement is prepared to play with a string quartet in which one of the violins plays an ukelele instead, although it can be played with a violin of course, but it would lose the soul. The cello part starts with the male-volcano voice, accompained by the other violin in an all-original counter-theme by our arranger Luis Turina. After a long phrase, the viola comes to the front with the female-volcano, while the violin keeps doing a counter-melody harder and complicated and the cello makes pizz in the lower section. Finally, cello and viola sing together. The ukelele part is the harmonic and rithmic part of this arrangement, the same as the original. It was released as a single in 1971 and later, as the first track of Al Green's 1972 album with the same title. Leroy Hodges recorded the bass, and it features similarities to James Jamerson style of playing. This transcription is based on the album version and arranged to be played on a 4-string bass with standard tuning.This song is in the key of F major and is about 3’19 long. The tempo is at 102 bpm and suitable for an early-intermediate player. Do take note, at bar 16, 20, 32, 36, 54 and 58, you are required to let the F# note to ring (sustain) while playing the D note, resulting in an interval of major thirds apart, but an octave higher, which is a voicing in major tenth to be more precise. The song ends in a fade-out manner, so, I have transcribed similarly to let you to play along with the album version. If you are playing with a band, do listen to the live version for some idea on the ending. Cornucopia is the recent single release by The Candlelight Guitarist...featuring an ensemble of guitar, mandolin, string bass, and percussion, in a contemporary bossa-nova style. The instrumental parts for guitar, mandolin, and BASS (this part) are each available here separately. (Renown percussionist Ms. Bobbye Hall recorded using a bass part for her reference.) These instrumental parts are fairly straightforward (easy to intermediate) professional jazz level. The video (linked herein) shows each performing playing their respective parts. Brad plays both the classical guitar part and mandolin part. The string bassist is Frank Sanchez (original bassist for Weird Al Yankovic), and the percussionist is Ms. Bobbye Hall (with dozens of hit songs to her credit, with many famous artists).ABOUT: Bradley Powell (aka The Candlelight Guitarist) began guitar at age ten, inspired by The Beatles. At 15, he became a protégé of jazz guitarist Joe Pass, and later studied classical guitar under Vincent Macaluso and at California State University, Northridge under Ronald Purcell, with a master class under Andrés Segovia. Brad was featured performing Gerald Wilson's Sonata for Guitar and Orchestra at the Hollywood Bowl, with the composer conducting. Brad was mentored in composition by David Rose (composer for Little House on the Prairie). Brad has composed music for TV, including Hill Street Blues and The 'A' Team, working with Mike Post. Freely inspired by the poem of the same name by Charles Baudelaire, this quartet in three movements is derived essentially from the slow motif which begins the works, which generates most of the musical material which follows. The style is more linear than harmonic. The four-part invention which opens the work is followed by the second section (played without interruption) which is a kind of long suspended melody. The third movement is a quick scherzo with a final evocation of the opening motif before a brief coda.
