The Swan Princess II: Escape From Castle Mountain is a beloved animated movie whose soundtrack has been equally adored. One of the standout tracks from the film is That's What You Do For A Friend, which was originally performed by Michelle Nicastro. However, the track has recently been remixed with additional instruments that take it to another level. The new version of That's What You Do For A Friend adds depth and complexity to a beautiful song. The added instruments give the track a fuller sound that perfectly captures the emotion behind the lyrics. Care was taken to craft this remix; every note feels deliberate and purposeful. The Swan Princess fans will undoubtedly appreciate this updated version of That's What You Do For A Friend. An epic fantasy cover from The Swan Princess II: Escape From Castle Mountain, remixed in warm pad and orchestra in an amazing wonderful perfect arrangement. Very famous, amazingly powerful, and more enhanced than the original. This is the greatest powerful magnificent musical melodic masterpiece of all time in the world!Originally released on October 8, 2022.

Percussion Solo,Timpani - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1018935 Composed by Benjamin Harry Sajo. 20th Century,Contemporary. Individual part. 3 pages. Benjamin Sajo #6072973. Published by Benjamin Sajo (A0.1018935). Fugue: Wear Pearls and Smile is, on the outset, a fast, rambunctious adventure for many voices playing at the same time. It was conceived as a pairing for the equally vivacious second symphony of Ludwig van Beethoven–his 250th birthday is this year–but can stand on its own as one of my hardest, most challenging works to cook up.This piece is dedicated to those forced to appear positive when internally they’re falling apart. The title is inspired by a quote that’s been with me for a while, Why is it that men can be bastards and women must wear pearls and smile? by Lynn Hecht Schafren, the celebrated American jurist famous for campaigning for gender equity in courts. I’m taking the quote out of its initial context, but the power of that quote, for me, exemplifies how hard it is to maintain a sense of emotional decorum and dignity when you’re authentically a hot mess. And what’s more of a musical hot mess than a fugue? There are two realities to this piece. I’ll quote Dmitri Shostakovich, from his autobiography: The rejoicing is forced, created under threat, […] It’s as if someone were beating you with a stick and saying, ‘Your business is rejoicing, your business is rejoicing,’ and you rise, shaky, and go marching off, muttering ‘Our business is rejoicing, our business is rejoicing.’ On the one hand, it is insincere happiness, cloying perhaps. But the other truth, I’ll quote Oscar Hammerstein II, from The King and I: While shivering in my shoes / I strike a careless pose / And whistle a happy tune / And no one ever knows, / I'm afraid. I forced myself, against all impulses of my current being, to forge happiness. This piece, with its origin being a mental puzzle (fugues are puzzles), it became a construct where I could lift myself up and regain a sense of purpose. Therefore, it is invented–out of a literal need to survive–pure, genuine happiness.Future Performances: If you are interested in performing this work, please e-mail me.ABOUT THE COMPOSER: Benjamin Sajo (b. 1988) is a Canadian composer of contemporary classical music, as well as an educator. Since developing a fiercely independent creative voice upon the completion of his studies at Western (2010) and McGill Universities (2013), he continues to find inspiration from the intersection of mythology, art, and nature upon the contemporary human experience. In 2019, he released his premiere album of original music, The Great War Sextet: Canadian War Poetry with Trombone & Strings , with support from the Ontario Arts Council. He is a member of SOCAN and the League of Canadian Composers.

Arranged double wind quintet/bass and optional percussion. Background info:Parade is a ballet choreographed by Leonide Massine, with music by Erik Satie and a one-act scenario by Jean Cocteau. The ballet was composed in 1916–17 for Sergei Diaghilev's Ballets Russes. The ballet premiered on Friday, May 18, 1917, at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, with costumes and sets designed by Pablo Picasso, choreography by Léonide Massine (who danced), and the orchestra conducted by Ernest Ansermet. The ballet was remarkable for several reasons. It was the first collaboration between Satie and Picasso, and also the first time either of them had worked on a ballet, thus making it the first time either collaborated with Diaghilev and the Ballets Russes. The plot of Parade incorporated and was inspired by popular entertainments of the period, such as Parisian music-halls and American silent-films.Much of the settings used in Parade's plot occurred outside of the formal Parisian theater, depicting the streets of Paris. The plot reproduces various elements of everyday life such as the music hall and fairground. Before Parade, the use of popular entertainment materials was considered unsuitable for the elite world of the ballet. The plot of Parade composed by Cocteau includes the failed attempt of a troupe of performers to attract audience members to view their show. Some of Picasso's Cubist costumes were in solid cardboard, allowing the dancers only a minimum of movement. The score contained several noise-making instruments (typewriter, foghorn, an assortment of bottles, pistol, and so on), which had been added by Cocteau (somewhat to the dismay of Satie). It is supposedthat such additions by Cocteau showed his eagerness to create a succès de scandale, comparable to that of Igor Stravinsky's Le Sacre du Printemps which had been premiered by the Ballets Russes some years before, and caused no less scandal.Although Parade was quite revolutionary, bringing common street entertainments to the elite, being scorned by audiences and being praised by critics, nonetheless many years later Stravinsky could still pride himself in never having been topped in the matter of succès de scandale. The ragtime contained in Parade would later be adapted for piano solo and attained considerable success as a separate piano piece. The finale is a rapid ragtime dance in which the whole cast [makes] a last desperate attempt to lure the audience in to see their showThe premiere of the ballet resulted in a number of scandals. One faction of the audience booed, hissed, and was very unruly, nearly causing a riot before they were drowned out by enthusiastic applause. Many of their objections were focused on Picasso's cubist design, which was met with cries of sale boche.Acrobates (Acrobats) is no 3 in the ballet, and includes some of the odd percussion : sirens and a bottle phone, in addition to normal orchestral perc. The piece can be performed without percussion....but the percussion gives it an extra something!!

Large Ensemble Bass Drum,Drums,Marimba,Multi-Percussion,Snare Drum,Vibraphone,Xylophone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.935386 Composed by Dan Heslink. Contemporary. Score and parts. 46 pages. Pharaoh Publications #6058011. Published by Pharaoh Publications (A0.935386). Sinfonietta composed by Dan Heslink Sinfonietta is a trio for vibraphone, marimba and percussion (xylophone, snare drum, and bass drum). Its expression is intended to be non-representational, presenting only an interesting technical construction in a suave formal organization. With the title the composer designates a single movement, with length and seriousness of expression approaching a symphonic movement. Its form approximates an expanded version of the classical sonata-allegro, dividing materials into three large sections. Beginning are the two main phrases of the principal theme, which establish patterns that are idiomatic throughout the movement. The first measure’s quartal harmonies divide into rhythms alternating the two hands, the right-hand posing a melody and the left-hand complementing it with harmony and rhythmic repetition. The phrase at measure 7 is a long-breathed melody for vibes accompanied by undulating chords in the marimba. A transition comprising highly qualitative rhythms (stated first by the marimba in m. 20.) has much identity. By measure 41, the transition has grown into a full secondary theme, one that is developed and repeated often throughout the movement. The exposition closes with a theme beginning in measure 51. It is announced by the vibes as another long-breathed melody unfolding over the active rhythm of the second theme. After a gradual dissipation, the development section starts at measure 92 with a new but related theme, heard first in the vibes. It offers a different key and an expressive melody slowly unfolding over rhythmically active harmonies. The remainder of this middle section explores nuances of the secondary and closing themes, and ultimately leads to the movement’s first climax. It eventually dissipates through a gradual reduction of density and tempo. The Reprise begins vigorously at m. 118 with statements of both the principal theme’s phrases. Then the second theme is transformed by the addition of bass drum strokes, which sets up a codetta. This section comprises a long crescendo on the new theme over a rhythmic tattoo derived from the second theme, and builds to a bold conclusion. Pedaling on the vibes is indicated with a solid bracket below the connected notes, and half pedaling with a dashed bracket. It is imperative that the percussion part be heard but not dominate. The performer is encouraged to experiment with a piccolo snare drum and 28 bass drum. Sinfonietta would serve equally well in a professional, college or advanced high school percussion recital. The composer assigns a difficulty level of medium difficult. Duration is 8:10. The composer, Dan Heslink, can be contacted at dan@dheslink.com.

Large Ensemble Bassoon,Clarinet,Double Bass,Flute,Horn,Oboe,Percussion - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.555864 Composed by Edmund Angerer - ascribed variously to Joseph Haydn, Leopold Mozart, Michael Haydn, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Johann Rainprechter. Arranged by Ray Thompson. Children,Christmas,Classical,Standards. Score and parts. 52 pages. RayThompsonMusic #6047585. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.555864). This work was long reputed to be the work of Joseph Haydn, but later scholarship suggested that it was actually written by Leopold Mozart. Its authorship is still disputed, however, and other composers have been proposed as the symphony's true author, including Joseph Haydn's younger brother Michael Haydn, who purportedly contributed movements to the work.Recent research on a newly found manuscript suggests the Austrian Benedictine monk Edmund Angerer (1740–1794) to be the author. If Angerer's manuscript (from 1765, entitled Berchtolds-Gaden Musick) is the original, the Toy Symphony was originally written not in G but rather in C. These findings, however, are disputed among scholars. There is reason to believe that the true composer will likely never be known, in whole or in part, given its confused origins and the paucity of related manuscript sources.Even without a name attached to it, the piece has become a mainstay for children's shows and Christmastime concerts. Each of its three movements features the sounds of actual toys and instruments that sound like they came straight from Geppetto's workshop. The piece calls for a toy trumpet, ratchet, nightingale, cuckoo, drum, and triangle. ( A quail makes it’s only appearance in the 2nd movement.Noisemakers rattle throughout the first of its three movements. The cuckoo and trumpet  call out mischievously during the minuetto of the second movement , and a quail joins the nightingale in the trio. In the short third mvt which is played 3 times, they all play again, each repeat faster than the previous one.The presence of the toy instruments make this a fun piece for children to play, especially when there are also some toys waiting under the tree.My arrangement is based on the Kinder-Symphonie attributed to Leopold Mozart. It is scored in C.it is in 3 mvts and is arranged for double wind quintet, bass and toy percussion.i have distributed the original strings around the woodwind, and composed original classical horn parts.Sometimes known as Children’s Symphony.

And Can It Be That I Should Gain? is a Christian hymn written by Charles Wesley in 1738 to celebrate his conversion, which he regarded as having taken place on 21 May of that year. The hymn celebrates personal salvation through the death and resurrection of Jesus, and is one of the most popular Methodist hymns today.Charles Wesley (1707–1788), along with his brother John Wesley, was one of the founding figures of Methodism. Like his brother, he was profoundly influenced by a religious conversion. Charles's experience took place on 21 May 1738 (the feast of Pentecost), and it inspired him to write two new hymns, And Can It Be that I Should Gain and Where Shall My Wondering Soul Begin?. After this, Charles went on to become a prolific hymnodist, composing over 6,500 hymns. The original six-verse hymn And Can It Be? was first published in 1739 in John Wesley's hymnal, Hymns and Sacred Poems, with the title Free Grace. The hymn remains popular today and is included in many contemporary hymn books. In 2013, following a survey conducted by the BBC Television programme Songs of Praise, And Can It Be? was voted number 6 in the UK's Top 100 Hymns.

By Chris Lowe and Neil Tennant. Arranged by John Ivor Holland. 20th Century,Film/TV,Pop,Rock. Brass Band. 56 pages. John Ivor Holland #1064138. Published by John Ivor Holland (A0.1487167). It's A Sin is taken from Pet Shop Boys' second studio album, 'Actually', released in June 1987 as the lead single. It became their second number-one in the UK, spending three weeks at the top. Additionally, the single topped the charts in Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland, reaching number nine on the US Billboard Hot 100. In the song, Tennant describes some impressions he took from his time at a Catholic high school in Newcastle upon Tyne. He ended up feeling that everything he had done or was going to do was a sin. Directed by Derek Jarman, the It's A Sin video marked the director's first of several collaborations with the band; it extended the lyrical themes of the song by showing Tennant under arrest by an inquisition with Lowe as his jailer and Ron Moody ('Fagin' in the musical, 'Oliver!') in the role of his judge, interspersed with brief clips of personifications of the seven deadly sins. This arrangement for brass band opens with the fanfare used in the orchestral Overture to the Pet Shop Boys' 'Performance' tour, segueing into the song and featuring, in the middle, a half-time feel, riffing off Tennant's own suggestion that It's A Sin, at its heart, is a heavy metal record. Your players and audience are sure to love this stone-cold pop classic and have fun with the 'thunder' sound effects to ramp up the dramatic effect!

Euphonium,Flute,Percussion - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1141962 Composed by Sy Brandon. 20th Century,Chamber,Children,Classical. 63 pages. Sy Brandon #742339. Published by Sy Brandon (A0.1141962). “Allegories†is a five-movement composition based upon Aesop’s Fables. It was commissioned by and dedicated to Frank Meredith. The first movement “The Trumpeter Taken Captive†is a fable about how one’s actions affect the outcome. The trumpeter, who incites others to do battle, is as guilty as those who slay the enemy. The euphonium represents the trumpeter by playing battle tunes. Then the ensemble plays capture music, begging music, fatal music representing the slaying of the trumpeter (euphonium), and finally music representing the moral of the story. “The Boy Who Cried Wolf†is the basis for the second movement. The allegory is that nobody believes a liar. The flute plays a shepherd’s tune to represent the bored shepherd boy. The ensemble plays excited music three times as the boy cries wolf, the first two times just to amuse himself. After the third time when nobody responds to his cries, the flute plays a lament to end the movement. The third movement reflects the story of “The Goose That Laid The Golden Egg.†A golden euphonium melody accompanied by rich harmony represents the golden eggs laid by the goose. The ensemble then plays greedy music that is followed by a minor key lament as the farmer has killed his rich source of income because of his greed. A sweet dancing flute solo begins movement four appropriately named “The Fisherman and His Flute.†This short fable has the allegory of “timing is everything.†The poor fisherman expected the fish to jump out of the sea in response to his flute playing to no avail. When the ensemble plays a similar tune, it represents his success when he uses his net. The fisherman says “you bloody fish, when I played the flute you wouldn’t dance, but as soon I stopped, you started up.†The race between the “Tortoise and the Hare†is the subject of the last movement. The plodding euphonium represents the tortoise and the fast and agile flute represents the hare. The flute takes a nap in the middle of the movement and by the time the flute wakes up, it is too late to catch up with the slow and steady tortoise. The race is not always to the swift.

The history of the seventh art is so filled with examples that it's not worth citing one specific movie. That is the natural order of things. But what when this natural order is inverted and the movie becomes a book? That is what happened with drummer Aquiles Priester. After releasing two videos where he shows his unbeatable technique, in 2013 he released Aquiles Priester's Top 100 Drum Fills, a selection of fills that he recorded with the various bands he played in - Hangar, Angra, Freakeys. So, during the recording other fills were created and, as they were interesting ideas, they ended up being included in the package. This resulted in 150 fills, 100 of which were selected for the video - 25 ended up being included as bonus tracks, including themes with Hangar, Tony MacAlpine and Midas Fate. Like everything else he does, success was immediate. The video was voted Best Educational DVD of The Year by the renowned North-American magazine Modern Drummer, another feat for a musician used to accumulating similar feats. Now Aquiles Priester's Top 100 Drum Fills has just become a book. Many people asked me for the scores of the fills shown in the video, says Aquiles, and as I had almost everything written down, I decided to make their lives easier. It is another release by a musician used to breaking barriers as in 2011, when he became the only drummer in Brazilian history to enter the ranking of Modern Drummer magazine as 5th best prog metal drummer of the world, next to names like Neil Peart, Mike Portnoy, Gavin Harrison and Marco Minnemann. In 2015 Aquiles was once more nominated to take part of another poll and was elected best drummer in the hard rock category by the North-American magazine Drum!. More than that, he was also the first Brazilian drummer to have signature instruments released by manufactures such as Paiste, Pro-Mark and Mapex, besides having built a solid international career accompanying renowned musicians such as Tony MacAlpine and Vinnie Moore and being part of one of the biggest revelations of Brazilian metal in the last ten years, the band Noturnall. Published by RBMusic (A0.752371). This piece was written in March 2008 to open the Leeds University Union Music Society (LUUMS) Wind Band's concert that took place on 27th April 2008. It features the brass (3 trumpets and 3 trombones) and percussion (drum kit, timpani and vibraphone). The title comes from University Challenge, where the initial question per set of questions (or the starter question) is worth 10 points, hence the quizmaster saying Here's your starter for ten.The piece is a great piece to start a concert with, perfect for junior and senior/professional ensembles alike. It has alternative parts so that other members of the brass family (French horns, tenor horns and tubas, as well as parts in treble clef) can either be substituted for the originals or can also play to ensure no brass player misses out. It will work for larger ensembles such as orchestras, wind/concert bands, military bands and brass bands, as well as smaller ensembles from brass sextets to brass dectets (assuming a drummer can be found). And the beginning can also feature the non-brass/percussion players with jungle-like sounds (optional, of course).

Brandon Nelson #800346. Published by Brandon Nelson (A0.1201730). Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and his theory on how colors impacted mental states was the inspiration for this piece. He was far more gifted with prose than I, so I’ll him explain further:We shall not be surprised to find that [colours’] effects are at all times decided and significant, and that they are immediately associated with the emotions of the mind.Colour, considered as an element of art, may be made subservient to the highest aesthetical needs.General impressions produced by single colours cannot be changed[.] They act specifically and must produce definite, specific states in the living organ. Experience teaches us that particular colours excite particular states of feeling.Goethe goes on to detail these notions in an elaborate, deeply imaginative treatise. Sadly for him, this work was coming out just as the science of optics had begun to give the world an empirical understanding of color, leaving Goethe’s romantic ideas in the margins. But it is those ideas that I find intriguing from a poetic viewpoint, and, in this composition, I shed musical light unto his dramatic descriptions of several different colors.“Yellow-Red†is described as “primordial, impetuous, robust,†to the point of eliciting “extreme excitement†which disturbs and enrages even animals!“Yellow†is portrayed as that being nearest to natural light. It is of “utmost purity and beauty[….] Serene, gay, softly exciting.â€The color “Red-Blue†we are told is “something lively without gladness.â€â€œBlue†is steeped in darkness, a “contradiction between excitement and repose.†It gives one the “impression of cold.†and brings to mind melancholy.

Arranged by Richard Jones. 19th Century,Folk. Brass Band. 26 pages. Richard Jones #1065707. Published by Richard Jones (A0.1488853). A Farmer's Boy is an example of a piece that gained fame and popularity through the oral traditions of singing in the United Kingdom during the 19th Century. It first appeared in print in an 1832 catalogue of street songs collected James Catnach, and appeared in many other printed books during that century. There are many tunes that are associated with the words, the most popular of these being 'Ye Sons of Albion', a patriotic tune associated with the Napoleonic Wars, that later become extremely popular as regimental march tunes for the Duke of Edinburgh and Prince of Wales Regiments. At the beginning of the 20th century legendary Folk Collector Percy Grainger recorded the song on phonograph, the song performed by a M. Tandy of Winchcombe, Gloucestershire. Just under 50 years later the great Musicologist/Ethnomusicologist Alan Lomax recorded a version that can be heard in his vast recording archive. Over time the tune followed people to other Commonwealth countries and numerous other versions appeared. This is a version that attempts to faithfully recreate the performances of bands in the late 19th Century period.
