Horn Quintet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1254282 Composed by Various. Arranged by Helmut Kogler. 19th Century,Advent,Christian,Christmas,Traditional. 34 pages. Pentharmonics #847855. Published by Pentharmonics (A0.1254282). Christmas Carols - Version for French Horn Grade 3.5 - Total Duration 8:10 min.The Silent Trilogy is a compilation of three traditional European Advent and Christmas carols arranged for various quintet ensembles (brass-, saxophone- and horn-quintet) and finally also for wind band. The trilogy consists of the songs Alle Jahre wieder, Es wird scho 'glei' dumpa and Stille Nacht. The colorful arrangements represent harmonic variations around the ever-present melody of the original songs.Compared to the versions for brass- and saxophone quintett, the version for horn is more advanced, in particular in the first and the fifth horn due to the range of notes. The parts are provided for F and for E flat horns.Alle Jahre wieder (Every year again, Audio-Demo from the beginning) is a well-known Christmas carol from the German-speaking area. The melody comes from Friedrich Silcher, the text was written by Wilhelm Hey in 1837.Es wird scho 'glei' dumpa (It will be dark soon, Audio-Demo from minute 2:15) is an Austrian nativity scene song based on the melody of a traditional Marian song. The text was written by Anton Reidinger in relation to a historical nativity play in Bad Ischl and published around 1884.Stille Nacht (Silent Night, Audio-Demo from minute 4:55) is one of the most famous Christmas carols. It was performed for the first time on December 24, 1818 with the melody by Franz Xaver Gruber and the text by Joseph Mohr in Salzburg. Since then, the song has been translated into countless languages and sung all over the world. The PDF contains the score and all parts. The paper layout is actually designed for European A4 paper, but printing on 8.5 x 11 inches format has no effect on readability.More about the arranger: www.helmut-kogler.comMore music by Helmut Kogler: www.pentharmonics.com

By George Harrison, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and Richard Starkey. Arranged by Chris Gorman. Pop,Rock. Brass Band. 32 pages. Chris Gorman #903370. Published by Chris Gorman (A0.1314616). John Lennon wrote Now and Then in the late 1970s, and recorded a demo in 1977 at his home at The Dakota in New York City. The lyrics are typical of the apologetic love songs that Lennon wrote in the latter half of his career. For the most part, the verses are nearly complete, though there are still a few lines that Lennon did not flesh out on the demo tape performance. Writing for the Los Angeles Times, Stephen Thomas Erlewine called Lennon's composition a wispy, melancholy ballad, while Billboard's Kyle Denis described the song as a lovelorn guitar-centric rock ballad. This arrangement follows closely to the authorised version played by Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and friends, and will be a great addition to the Brass Band Library.

(9-12) Through the good and the bad, the happy and sad, (13-14) no matter what happened you always did sing. (14-20) There were times I know it was hard for you. (21 pu, 22- There were many things that you had to go through. (23 pu, 24-25 I’m sure there were times when your strength was all gone, (25 pu, 26 and you felt it impossible for you to go on. (27 pu, to 29) Yet somehow within you there was always a song (30 pu, 31- ) that renewed your faith and helped you be strong. (to 37) I learned that no matter what life might bring, (38- it would all be okay if we could still sing. (to 45) I think of the journey you have valiantly fought ( and all of the lessons that to me you taught. You taught me to have faith in my Savior above; you have shown me how to truly love. (to 54) Chorus: You have blessed so many lives; you have touched our hearts. Many tears will be shed when from us you depart. Now your journey soon must come to an end, oh how I will miss you, my dear mother, and friend. (to 66) Yet my life will go on, more challenges to bring, but I’ll be okay, because you taught me to sing. Oh what joy you will feel as you look on his face, and kneel at his feet in that glorious place. (to 79) As you bask in his light he will say to thee, (82-85) “My Daughter, your life has been pleasing to me. (86-89) You kept the faith, you fought a good fight, now take my hand and enter into the light. (to 98) Then joining his angels your voice will ring, as to him your praises you bring. For in that great place, throughout eternity, with Heavenly choirs you will still sing.

Give eye, and shine forth; let light fill thy face. And comfort me with thy embrace. Christ:When vast darkness masks the sun, do not be afraid. I'm in the heavens, yet this earth I made. I created hearts to see, even through each cloud. I'll also help grow faith when one does not doubt. Come and claim God's promises; His gifts are in store.Love and light will shine bright through heaven's door. Child:See me, O Lord. I am near to thy soul With sure faith stronger than gold. I look and see pure light in thy face, Then I feel thy warm embrace.Christ:I give you pure light, my pure light, Then you feel my warm embrace.

Arabic folk tunes – flexible quartet is a collection of four (4) Arabic famous folk tunes arranged for a flexible quartet, that can be performed by any type of ensemble (quartet, or bigger ensemble by doubling parts) include scores and parts for the arrangement of these four famous Arabic songs: Mahla Nourha – Sayed Darwich A very popular song by the great Egyptian songwriter/singer Sayyed Darwich, in the Egyptian countryside language, describes the simple life in the Egyptian countryside, that’s starts with the shining sun and continues by bringing the milk from the cows and working in the field. Then meet the loved one near the river and flirt together Rozana – Palestinian Folk The ship called “Rosanna†is an Italian ship that Italy sent to Lebanon and Syria at the time of the great famine in 1914, loaded with wheat. But when it arrived, it turned out that it was loaded with grapes and apples, which disappointed the Lebanese and the Syrians. Despite this, the people of Aleppo secured the necessary wheat for the Lebanese, to save them from starvation. Zourouni – Egyptian Folk An old Egyptian folk tune, with a very catchy melody. Almost every Arabic singer since Sayed Darwich till now made his cover for this song! Starts with an invitation to visit the singer, even once every year, which speaks of how difficult for him to be forgotten, then expresses his fear about feeling the longing. Yal Rayeh – Algerian Folk A world-famous Algerian folk song was written and sung by the Algerian popular singer Dahmane El Harrachi. The song tells about the suffering of immigrants in estranging homes from marginalization, exclusion, and longing to return to the homeland, and it contains advice for the immigrant to invite him to return to the motherland as migration to foreign homes is not considered a healthy or natural solution for Arab immigrants.

Ginny's House of Music #4362443. Published by Ginny's House of Music (A0.889815). *Bethlehem Angel and The First Noel This is a very beautifully flowing presentation which includes both an original work by this composer entitled Bethlehem Angel and an arrangement of The First Noel. It includes scriptures and lyrics. It was written for flute, guitar, voice, and piano accompaniment on Intermediate Level.  It is based on the scriptures Luke 2: 8-11 --- And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord and Matthew 2:1-10 ---- Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born. And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet, And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Judea, art not the least among the princes of Judea: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel. Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared. And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also. When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.Â

Leslie Smith. 20th Century,Jazz,Pop,Standards. 20 pages. Sweetwater Brass Press #936564. Published by Sweetwater Brass Press (A0.1351942). “I’ll Walk Alone†is a World War II era ballad whose poignant melody sounds as though it could have been written just yesterday.  First introduced in the 1944 movie Follow the Boys, it was hugely popular and has since been recorded by numerous artists.   Universal Pictures produced Follow the Boys in an effort to help boost morale for both overseas military and folks on the home front.  Despite being filled with stars and songs, critics tended to dismiss it as hokey and trite.  The exception was a scene in which Dinah Shore sang “I’ll Walk Alone.† Nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song, Ms. Shore’s follow-up Victor recording spent 20 weeks on the top ten Best Selling Records chart.  The song was used yet again in 1952 for another motion picture, With a Song in My Heart, the Jane Froman biographical film, and the melody eventually developed as a standard, particularly in the world of jazz.   Sammy Cahn’s lyrics for this song express the feelings and the promise of a woman who has been separated from her lover by the war.  She pledges that she will be true, that she will wait for him, and that “'till you're walking beside me, I'll walk alone.† Jule Styne’s melody is both plaintiff and simple. an eight-measure phrase, a repeat of the phrase, an eight-measure second phrase, then another repeat of the first phrase.   For this arrangement, the suggested tempo is a relatively slow, blues-like 72 bpm.  It features a tenor saxophone as lead and solo instrument accompanied by brass quintet.  A four-measure introduction opens the piece with Trumpet 1 playing melody and the other four brass providing background.  Following the intro, Tenor Sax plays its first three notes alone; the other instruments begin their accompaniment on measure 6.  Trumpet 1 is tacit during measures 6-11 but begins adding counterpoint in measure 12.     In performing this arrangement, brass instruments should ensure that, when the Sax plays, their volume as a group is under (i.e., softer than) the melody.  The exception begins at measure 36, when a crescendo leads to the quintet playing fortissimo.  During this section, the Tenor Sax plays a couple of responses.  At measures 43 a decrescendo lowers the brass volume back to its original soft accompaniment level.  The piece ends with brass recapping the introduction and Sax providing a final statement.   This piece, completed in 2023, consists of 57 measures, a little over three minutes in length.  Written in the key of G major, Tuba’s lowest note is a G below the staff.  Other than that, all notes are well within the normal playing range of each instrument.   The arranger, Les Smith, will be happy to provide substitute parts (for example, treble clef baritone for trombone) at no charge.  He would like to receive your suggestions, comments, corrections and criticisms.  Contact him at lessmith61@bellsouth.net.  For more arrangements by Les, enter Sweetwater Brass Press (without the quotation marks) in the Sheet Music Plus or Sheet Music Direct search box.

Woodwind Ensemble Alto Saxophone,Bass Clarinet,Bassoon,Flute,Oboe - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1339643 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Conrad Ho. 19th Century,Chamber,Classical. 42 pages. Conrad Ho #925343. Published by Conrad Ho (A0.1339643). On the page it looked nothing. The beginning simple, almost comic. Just a pulse, bassoons and basset horns, like a rusty squeezebox. Then suddenly; high above it, an oboe, a single note, hanging there unwavering, till a clarinet took over and sweetened it into a phrase of such delight! This was no composition by a performing monkey! This was a music I’d never heard. Filled with such longing, such unfulfillable longing. It seemed to me that I was hearing the very voice of God.--- 'Amadeus' (1984)This is one of the most gorgeous woodwind ensemble composition written during in the Classical period, by W.A. Mozart. It is now a common knowledge that Mozart was not fond of flute as an instrument, therefore we see the instrumention in the original version was without flute. In this arrangement, the melodies and accompaniment are separated with all the main melodies played by soloists which corresponds to the original principal parts. Horn is also arranged into Alto Saxophones which is more common in a woodwind ensemble.

Instructional. Score and parts. 129 pages. Dots and Beams #5313621. Published by Dots and Beams (A0.931838). This book provides its user with a series of notes on a bass staff with no rhythm values and no meter. Chapters are organized by the placement of the notes relative to the staff; on the staff, above the staff, below the staff, on and above the staff, and on and below the staff. For each pitch range there is one chapter with no accidentals and one chapter with accidentals. All exercises have a space at the beginning of each staff to write in a key signature, allowing each exercise to be read in all keys and used in many ways. The aim with this book is to allow the user to focus specifically on exercises centred around pitch without the distraction of rhythmic values or time signatures. This can begin with the practice of sight-reading but can expand to include many other learning goals. The diatonic sets contain notes with no accidentals or key signature. These collections can be read as written, using only natural notes, or in any of the 15 key signatures from 7 flats to 7 sharps. Chromatic collections include sharp and flat notes as well as natural ones. The later exercises in these chapters increase the difficulty by including B#, Cb, E#, and Fb. Ledger line chapters start with the first ledger line and gradually expand away from the staff. Exercises above and below the staff extend to the space just beyond the fourth ledger line. The random nature of the notes in these exercises is intentional; it forces the user to pay attention to each note and makes the exercises very difficult to memorize, ensuring that they will still present a challenge even after multiple readings. It’s important when sight-reading to cycle through the exercises quickly rather than dwelling on a single exercise for a long time. This will ensure that you’re strengthening your ability to read the notes rather than just memorizing the exercises. Some suggestions for how to use this book include: Gain comfort reading the notes and finding them on your instrument in no particular rhythm or tempo. A greater challenge can be achieved by playing them at a steady tempo or by playing them in a simple rhythmic pattern. Beginner students can begin by writing in the note names. Play each exercise in all 15 key signatures. Advanced theory students and improvising musicians can also use these exercises to practice identifying scale degrees in various keys or playing chords built on every scale degree in the chosen key. Develop comfort with chords by playing a chord built on each note in the exercise. For example: for each note in the exercise, play the major chord with that root. Increase the difficulty with different chord qualities or different chord tones, for example: for every note, play the minor 7th chord in which the given note is the 3rd. Practice transposing into different keys. This is an especially useful challenge for people who play transposing instruments such as brass and woodwind instruments. Chapters with wide ranges can present a great exercise for musicians who play instruments where large leaps are a challenge. People who play strings, mallet percussion, piano, woodwinds, and brass would be among those who would benefit from practising these awkward leaps and falls. As with any of the Dots and Beams books, the uses for this particular collection are limited only by the imagination of the musician using it. I highly encourage anybody using this book to find as many uses for it as possible. My hope is that as you grow as a musician you will find ever more creative and challenging ways to use these materials so that you can return to these books for years and still find a valuable way to use them.

MARY HAD A BABY - 6 GUITARS/LARGE ENSEMBLE For Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar.Derek Hasted writes This American 19th Century Spiritual about the arrival of the Baby Jesus contains the words The people keep a-comin’ but the train done gone. It’s generally accepted that references to the train in afro-American Gospel Music often refer to The Gospel Train or The Way To A Better Life. But regardless of the actual interpretation for those words, this arrangement just wouldn’t be remotely authentic if it didn’t sound like a steam train. So hopefully, it does! This piece starts in the key of F, and the lower three parts generate a pulse which mimics the power-stroke of a steam locomotive. There’s a train whistle too - the top three parts sound an augmented chord - you might like to slide up into the chord, or fall down the neck after the chord is resolved. Or just play it as written...In the centre, the music rises a semitone then another semitone, picking up speed as it does so, playing the same music a tone higher. At the end of the piece, the music slows, and slows and slows to a standstill with a final bass G to tell the audience that the train has stopped...Before the train picks up speed, there is a gentle choral section, and the dynamic markings will show you where the tune moves about. The amount you choose to pick up speed is entirely your choice - the occasional strange number in the metronome mark is simply the result of my typesetting software performing a long, steady speed change.I hope you enjoy playing this piece!

Downloadable, Study score. Duration 10 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q6297. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q6297). Sur le même accord (about a single chord) is - as the subtitle suggests - a nocturne-like work. Although in one mouvement, at its centre are two expressive sections, which alternate with more rapid writing. The soloist plays a concertante role with the orchestra. In both the solo part and the orchestral texture, a six-note chord can be heard throughout the work, either concealed or more overtly, given to soloists drawn from the orchestra. At the start of the work, the solo violin announces these six pitches, first as a monody, then double-stopped; this material is then distributed vertically (played as a chord) by various instrumental groups. Mirror writing and different orchestral colours transform this chord, but it is omnipresent, an obsession. This relatively short work is dedicated to Anne-Sophie Mutter, to whom I was introduced by Paul Sacher about fifteen years ago. Since then, this great artist, who captivates so many composers, has unceasingly added to her repertoire music of our time by commissioning new works in many genres from contemporary composers. - Henry Dutilleux.

This is a companion to my earlier volume Chording to Consort which presented 35 Renaissance Dance band tunes and Chansons and arranged them as a single melody line with chords derived from the original harmony lines. In this volume I have reunited the remaining 17 of the pieces with the lower parts in the score, so that with more collaborators, the fullness of the original arrangement can be heard. The chords are still present, so if the ensemble is short handed, and lines are missing, the arrangements will still work. What is more, by contrasting the melody and chords with the full scoring, it should be possible to work some light and shade into performances. Â You can hear all the pieces and their chords on YouTube together with contemporary art and historical background material:https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYRWH2nycMkPO9vTOgEoG_kRJlJ5nUHnxComposers and printers of this time would often use note values that are double the length of those we would be used to seeing today, and so to make this version more readable, breves have become semibreves or whole notes, semibreves have become minims or half notes and so on.Working with this publicationFor those just starting out in Early Music, the volume is an ideal introduction, since the ensemble can build from a soloist with accompaniment with the chords alone, and parts can be added in as additional musicians become available. Instrumentation for these pieces was not specified in the original prints. The range of each part is quite limited, and though the harmonies may seem strange at times, key signatures are kind to the less experienced musician. If enthusiasm takes hold, then reproductions of early music instruments are sold by some very talented makers, as well as coming up on auction sites. Otherwise, it is possible to put together a fairly convincing ensemble with recorders, violins, a cello and mandolins, bouzoukis, flutes or guitars and gradually introduce the authentic instruments as they become available.

In this volume I have reunited 22 of the pieces with the lower parts in the score, so that with more collaborators, the fullness of the original arrangement can be heard. You will hear the selected line on its own with chords and percussion, with the melody line added on repeats. The final repeat includes the other harmony lines, but the featured line is slightly louder in the mix. The performance starts with a percussion beat introduction to set the tempo.Who were the Publishers and the Dance Masters? What did they do? Sometime around the 1500s, the popularity of dance music exploded in Europe. Dance Masters were collecting chansons and dance tunes from courts and rural parts and were teaching these to new audiences, spreading their arrangements and reflecting the performance styles of the areas from which they had collected the tunes. Publishers were able to take these tunes that were becoming known across the regions and nations and spread them even more widely, thanks to technological innovations in music printing which made it quicker and therefore cheaper to produce collections of these dances in four or more parts. These publishers were often highly accomplished composers in their own right, who were both able to provide distinctive harmony lines and compose new tunes in the style of their sources, feeding the courts with enduring tunes. Composers and printers of this time would often use note values that are double the length of those we would be used to seeing today, and so to make this version more readable, breves have become semibreves or whole notes, semibreves have become minims or half notes and so on. Working with this publication For those just starting out in Early Music, the volume is an ideal introduction, since the ensemble can build from a soloist with accompaniment with the chords alone, and parts can be added in as additional musicians become available.
