Brass Ensemble Euphonium,Horn,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.802608 By Steve Green. By Greg Nelson and Phill McHugh. Arranged by Peet du Toit. Christian,Gospel. Score and parts. 11 pages. Peet du Toit #5983089. Published by Peet du Toit (A0.802608). Steve Green is the son of missionaries. It therefore seemed natural that this song written by Greg Nelson and Phil McHugh which pictures hungry, hurting people who are unaware of the Christian message, would resonate with him. However, Green had a life-changing experience when he realized he'd been living a fake and phoney life, where he'd been doing the right things but with the wrong motives. He'd therefore understood his desperate need for a Saviour and ran to Jesus for what He alone can provide. As a consequence, when this song was pitched to him, Green had just come through a pretty significant life turn-around. The singer recalled to CCM Magazine presents 100 Greatest Songs In Christian Music: It resonated for two reasons - first, because my parents had given their lives to evangelize, and their love for the people they were serving around the world was motivated by Christ's love for them; so that was definitely one of the reasons why I gravitated to the song. The other reason was that for the for the first time, I suppose, I was realizing that it isn't just those who never heard about the Lord who needed him. I knew that I was surrounded by people just like me who were living kind of an external, performance-based Christianity, but they had no light. I started thinking of us as the 'elder brothers' - those who never ran away from home but were just as lost as the prodigal.Watch Steve Green singing this heartfelt song on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nbxvc6eeXso .I found this music and lyrics so inspiring and beautiful, I just had to translate it to brass instruments. Enjoy!

Flute,Horn,Piano,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1257964 Composed by JohnWillard Utuk. Chamber,Contemporary,Film/TV,New Age,Video Game. 23 pages. JohnWillard Utuk #851201. Published by JohnWillard Utuk (A0.1257964). The High Priestess is a chamber work for mixed instrumentation, including an F Horn with piano, violin, and flute. This piece is inspired by the artwork of the traditional Rider-Waite-Smith tarot deck, specifically the less credited illustrator of the world famous deck, Pamela Colman Smith. The music represents the symbolism and feeling behind the High Priestess card, with keywords of strength, adaptability, seriousness, intuition, loving understanding, knowledge, introspection, and self-trust. Each instrument is featured throughout, as the main melody and distinct rhythms are traded and dovetailed around the ensemble. The piece begins with a feeling of watery calm (e.g. Venetian Boat songs), ascends to a hopeful journey, moves through tense trials, then returning back to the distant flute melody, followed by a piano “solo†that ultimately inspired this chamber work in the first place. This work is great for high school, collegiate, amateur, or professional ensembles, as well as very advanced young chamber players looking for something new and fresh. Rhythms are simple, while expression and musicality can be explored. In performance, be mindful of balance issues, so seating arrangement can be adjusted. I recommend the horn player be seated on the outside, so as not to cover up the flute. Average performance time: ca. 4:30Other instrumentations are in progress, so please check back for updated editions. The original instrumentation involved the oboe and cello. There is also another version with trombone substituting the F horn. Please leave a review here below and reach out via my website listed in the score for any feedback or questions. Digital Download SKU: A0.1071145 Composed by Greg Bartholomew. 20th Century,Contemporary. Full Performance. Duration 727. Burke & Bagley #2880415. Published by Burke & Bagley (A0.1071145). On the Ground Where We Live evokes the sense of walking through the community of an old town or city, where new sights and experiences are discovered around each corner. We sense a generally benign social-political environment in which individuals and small groups may interact harmoniously, although at times the world becomes ominous or chaotic. Individual voices are at turns confident, reflective, insistent or celebratory. As the ensemble builds, we may be entering a popular plaza. When the crowd gets too boisterous, we follow a pair of individual voices as they retreat for refuge in a quiet passage, but soon the larger forces return and build to a climatic conclusion.ERM Media awarded On the Ground Where We Live the Masterworks Prize. The work was recorded by the Czech Philharmonic in October 2005 for Volume 10 of the Masterworks of the New Era CD series. Duration approximately 12 minutes. For more information: www.gregbartholomew.com/groundindex.html

Christian,Contemporary,Folk,Rock. Full Performance. Duration 215. David Kai #708367. Published by David Kai (A0.1105120). This fun song was written when heart transplants were fairly new and still in the news. The song depicts the healing ministry of Jesus brought into modern times. Since people like to put music into categories, the style could be roughly described as being country/bluegrass/synth-driven/gospel pop, which might make it pretty unique! The song was first recorded by the Christian rock group, Whitestone. The Great Healer words and music by David Kai ©1980 I’ve had a heart transplant with a bit of a difference, it may seem rather odd No scalpel, no surgeon, no anesthetic, just between me and God And now a new life beats inside of me, it’s more than mere words can describe My heart keeps time to the rhythm of the Spirit inside Well I went fishing for the truth to life, but I opened up a can of worms False religions and philosophies, misleading me at every turn Well I soon realized that knowledge is fine, but it’s really just a place to start ‘Cause you can change your mind but it’s God that has to change your heart Chorus: Yes, he’s the great healer, in a world of pain and strife He’s the great healer, and he can mend a broken life And though your hurts be too much to bear He can heal your wounds with his loving care And give you a new life that will never die So if you feel that you’ve lost all your reason to live Good and bad look the same And you’re walking around more dead than alive Life clotting up in your veins Just end your confusion, accept a transfusion of love from the heavenly Lord And to your surprise you’ll find that you have been restored Chorus:.

Small Ensemble Cello,Oboe,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.576733 Composed by David Warin Solomons. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 7 pages. David Warin Solomons #90581. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.576733). Mysterious piece in octatonic mode, originally written for the short story The Door The pdf file contains score and parts. The sound sample is an electronic preview. High up on the grassy hill behind the town there is a door. It stands there in its frame with nothing before or behind it. It is locked shut. There is no key. We climb the hill each day. We play each side of the door, games of hide and seek. But we cannot go through the door. Each day we go there during this long sultry summer holiday. We are fascinated by the structure. Why would anyone put a door up there, in its frame, eternally locked, with nothing before or behind it? Maybe it is all that remains of an ancient house? We play, we wonder, we laugh and play, and we return regularly to our homes in time for tea. Then, one day, as we climb the hill for the umpteenth time, a lady dressed in white arrives before us. We watch her take the key out of her bag and insert it in the lock. We are too far downhill to catch up before she closes the door behind her. As we arrive, puffing and panting, Steve knocks on the door. No answer. Dave knocks on the door more forcefully. We hear a distant swish of robes. Gloria knocks, perhaps a little more timidly as the swishing sound approaches. Estelle begins to knock in her turn and the door suddenly opens wide. We all gasp as we see the lady standing there in glistening robes. Her face is hidden from view by a white shawl, but her piercing eyes still show. Children, she says, welcome all. Do come in, please, the kettle is on. You are just in time for tea. We hesitate, as well we might. How can we come in when there is nothing before or behind the door? But Estelle puts one foot inside and looks back at us with a curious expression of serenity on her face. We follow her. We look around at the new space beyond the door and at the parquet floor beneath our dew-soaked feet. As our eyes become accustomed to the brightness of the interior we catch sight of many signs of the world we have entered, but only fleetingly. They pass before our eyes in an instant and then flee beyond the range of sight. There is a staircase, a hat stand, a distant gleam of an ancient cooker, a faint whiff of scones and boiling jam. As we walk inside, our senses are overwhelmed with the new reality, we are rooted to the spot. Do please sit down, says the lady with a slight catch in her throat. We are seated on wooden chairs along one side of an oak table, although we cannot recall how we got there, some slip of the memory perhaps. We have no sense of foreboding, Estelle's serenity has passed to all of us. We can stay here eating scones and jam until the end of time. The lady removes her shawl and reveals a face as beautiful as anyone's mother's. Her deep black eyes glisten like obsidian. She beams a smile of welcome and pours the tea. I'm glad you have come. I've been expecting you, she begins. You must have a thousand questions, so do please ask away. Well, says Steve, what is this door that we passed through? Is this another world? There is no other world, the lady replies, this is the only one. But there is! There is! starts Dave excitedly, Look!. He gets up quickly from the chair, knocking it over in his haste and rushes to the door to open it. He pulls at it with all his force and reveals a black nothingness behind it. We were on the hill, where's it gone? he shouts, what have you done to it? There is no hill. But you climbed the hill in front of us says Gloria. There is no hill. Even Estelle of the serene demeanour is beginning to look worried. How did we get here then, how did you get here, she asks the lady nervously. We have all been here since the beginning of time, the catch in the lady's throat is becoming more evident. No, we have our families down there in the town cries Estelle You have no families,.

Beka Wilson #1070588. Published by Beka Wilson (A0.1493978). I started writing this song in 2020, around when I began playing the harp more often and when I first started writing my own original pieces. It went through several iterations, but what started out as an experiment in mixolydian mode turned out to be a calming piece that celebrates just being still. So often we pack our schedules to the brim, and burn out trying to do all the things. Lately I've come to appreciate the value of just stopping to breathe, to pray, to just be in the moment. Sometimes the best music happens in the space between notes. Length: approximately 3.5 minutes, 3 pagesLevel: late intermediate as written, early intermediate if you edit out the mordents and other ornamentations

They went around the town to let everyone know. They made food for Mary and Joseph. They warned others to be very quiet as to not awaken Jesus if he was sleeping. This is in SATB parts with parts for flute, violin and cello and piano accompaniment. They went around the town to let everyone know. They made food for Mary and Joseph. They warned others to be very quiet as to not awaken Jesus if he was sleeping. Published by Songburd Music (A0.1347430). Africa's rich and varied history has been shaped by many factors, and the same could be said for Africa's captivating traditional and indigenous music styles, which in turn have influenced many other genres of music around the world.  With its early beginnings, the traditional music of Africa has walked hand-in-hand with the development of cultures and languages, each with its distinct traditions and dialects that bring a unique flavor to the African folk tunes that are so much a part of the families, clans and communities that form a music heritage within Africa. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the Luhya community in Kenya, where we clearly see the special relationship that exists between the Samia people, and their articulate dialect, and the delightful expression of their sacred folk music and folk music style.  We could even go so far as to say that Samia folk tunes are closely tied to their art, folklore and religious practices, and also to the artistic influences within and without the Luhya community.Notably, what makes African folk music style special is the sense of purpose and meaning that is attributed to the music--through its use in religious practices, ceremonies, and celebrations-- where audience participation is encouraged and even expected.  The techniques and forms of the music, which give this genre a voice of its own, gives us reason to pay close attention to the characteristics that define this music.  We can briefly point out the use of polyrhythmic techniques, percussion, shimmer, improvisational instrumentation, yodeling and syncopated rhythms that comprise African folk music, but none gets our attention more than the call and response of the singers, which shows the close connection between the language (dialect) and the music, all of which involves the singers and the audience in a musical conversation. This arrangement by Wilson Shitandi combines two melodies commonly used in the praise of leaders or deities--depending on the culture--that typically have no specific title, and sometimes derive their name from an instrument or type of dance.  Stylistically, this arrangement successfully weaves two themes together into one, the first being a lively and upbeat expression, and the second being more meditative and contemplative, both of which alternate throughout the music.   Importantly, the text for this chorus was originally written in Swahili, and later rewritten using the Samia dialect, which the composer feels is more fitting to the melody, with words drawn from Christian traditions, which again demonstrates that music and language are indeed closely linked in the folk music of Africa, as it is in this uplifting arrangement of Mwiche Khumufumie (Come Let Us Glorify Him).

WITH COMPASSION Words and music: David Kai ©2021 As a parent holds a child with compassion, So the Spirit wraps her arms around us all, Then calls us to the ways of Wisdom true, Teaches, guides, inspires all we say and do, So that all may learn and grow, Come, answer the call! As a shepherd holds a lamb with compassion, So does Jesus wrap his arms around us all, Then calls to us in word and action bold, Care for all, for there is just one fold, No one ever left alone, Come, answer the call! As we look upon the world with compassion, So does God wrap loving arms around us all, Calls us to guard creation’s sacred store, Turn and pledge to pillage the earth no more, Until Eden blooms again, Come, answer the call!

Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1444898 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. Celtic,Folk,Historic,Irish,Multicultural,World. 20 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #1024766. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.1444898). This is one of the most popular and best-loved folksongs of all time, made famous by Simon and Garfunkel, Bob Dylan and many others. The song is in the Dorian mode and thought to have originated over four hundred years ago. Scarborough (SKAH-buh-ruh) is an English coastal town in the county of Yorkshire. It was occupied by the Romans during the fourth and fifth centuries but today has become the largest holiday resort on the Yorkshire coast with a thriving fishing industry. There are many different versions of the lyrics and by the end of the 19th century, dozens of variants existed. The repeated chorus of “parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme” is significant. In olden times, these herbs had medicinal purposes. In addition, parsley was associated with comfort, sage with strength, rosemary with love and thyme with courage. The song takes the form of a melancholy dialogue between two individuals who were once lovers but now live separate lives. Each of them asks the listener to pass on a message to the other. The young man requests impossible tasks from his former lover, saying that if she can perform them, he will take her back. In return, she requests equally impossible things of him, saying she will perform her tasks when he performs his. The fact that all the tasks are impossible seems to imply that neither of them have any intention of becoming reunited. This arrangement for woodwind instruments and piano stays well within the instrumental ranges and attempts to reflect the melancholy feeling of the lyrics. The clarinet part avoids awkward movement around the break. This arrangement would make a splendid encore piece for a recital.

JaGlo Music #1032873. Published by JaGlo Music (A0.1453659). This is a guitar quartet Christmas piece that I wrote earlier this year. It is for advanced players and is perfect for Holiday Concerts, Christmas parties or recitals. The theme is based on the legend of the Pukwudgie and is the soundtrack to the story below. © Copyright 2024 JaGlo Music. In the quaint village of Hollybrook, Christmas was a time of joy and togetherness. But this year, a malicious pukwudgie named Bramble planned to spread fear and chaos. On Christmas Eve, as villagers gathered around the grand tree for the annual lighting ceremony, Bramble struck. He made the lights flicker and go out and twisted the ornaments into grotesque shapes. He snuck into homes, swapping sugar for ashes and hiding stockings in unreachable places, casting a dark spell over the village. By morning, Hollybrook was in disarray. Children found their stockings missing, cookies ruined, and the tree ominous in the square. Fear gripped the town. Amidst the chaos, a brave girl named Lucy refused to let fear win. She gathered her friends and ventured into the forest, following eerie footprints. They found Bramble muttering dark incantations under a gnarled tree. Caught in a trap made from holly and mistletoe, Bramble hissed his intentions to spread fear. Lucy, with steely resolve, offered him a chance at redemption. Reluctantly, Bramble agreed. They returned to the village, and with Bramble’s help, dispelled the dark enchantments. The ornaments returned to their beautiful forms, sugar replaced the ashes, and the stockings were found. That night, the tree lit up, and Bramble felt warmth in his heart for the first time. The villagers, initially wary, accepted him as he helped create beautiful ice sculptures, adding magic to the festivities. From that year on, Bramble became part of Hollybrook. His dark nature slowly transformed under the light of friendship and acceptance. Every Christmas, his magic brought extra sparkle to the celebrations, reminding everyone that even the darkest hearts could find redemption through kindness and love.

Published by Daniel Gowans (A0.518623). In 2020, musicians and music lovers around the world were discouraged by the presence of Covid-19 and how it so quickly removed the opportunities for all to enjoy live music as had been previously enjoyed. This suite was written to reflect on a few elements of this pandemic, and to hope for the future as we anticipate the end of life as we know it today, and look forward to life as we may remember it. Mvt 1: A reflection on the perpetual motion of life, and how little time was spent focusing on what matters. Mvt 2: An immediate halt, requiring people to slow down and appreciate what they have. Mvt. 3: A small sketch describing the 6 feet of separation from one another. Mvt. 4: The potential for returning to the busy, perpetual life as the world once knew, but with a change.
