Instrumental Duet,Piano Cello,Clarinet,Instrumental Duet,Piano - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.971656 Composed by Jeffrey Hoover. 20th Century,Contemporary,Spiritual. Score and parts. 47 pages. Musicart Publications #5719085. Published by Musicart Publications (A0.971656). Set in two movements, the music of Oneness in This World represents two things necessary for humanity to move together: Unity and Joy.In the first movement, the music evolves from tension and musical discord to unity and harmony. While much of the drama is heard through the interaction of the clarinet and cello, the piano provides a key factor throughout the second part of the first movement through foundational chaconne variations. As the harmonic progression repeats, the clarinet and cello become more aligned in their music yet maintaining a sense of individuality. Without unity and informed agreement, a society cannot truly benefit its people. Unity is strongest within diversity, contributing to growth, and moving towards a common goal to benefit all.In the second movement, all three musicians share equally in the production of the state of joy. The varied tone colors of the instruments, shifting meters, and dancing music all provide energy and emotions suggesting joy. Joy is a certainty of the goodness of life, in spite of sorrows or pain or even tragedy. Joy gives us wings to transcend our situation, opens us to our potential, and helps us become who we are to be. Joy comes from faith and belief of value and purpose for our life and its beauty. As with other musical compositions of mine, there are two paintings– a diptych –titled Unity and Joy which I created to visually interpret the music. –Jeffrey HooverThis edition is set to print correct page turns, back-to-back.Jeffrey Hoover's work– music ranging from soloist to symphony orchestra –has received recognition through the prestigious Trieste prize, the SMP/Universal Edition composition award for contemporary music, awards from Mu Phi Epsilon, the Lancaster Fine Arts Festival, the L. Russolo competition, grants, publications fellowships, and more than 25 commissions. He is a member of the ACME roster of Mu Phi Epsilon, recognized for distinguished achievement as a composer. One unique aspect of Hoover’s work is when he combines composition with his paintings, creating synergetic art that intrigues and captivate audiences and performers alike. His paintings are seen in exhibitions and in concerts where his paintings are projected while musicians perform his music. Whether making interdisciplinary works, or traditional stand-alone sonic or visual art, Hoover shapes his work through inner vision and practical experience. Jeffrey Hoover’s background as a performer includes both classical and jazz music, as saxophonist and conductor. His book The Arts and Society: Making New Worlds is published by Kendall Hunt Publishing.Jeffrey Hoover was born on September 11, 1959, in Anderson, Indiana. He holds a Ph.D. in Fine Arts (Composition and Interdisciplinary Fine Arts) from Texas Tech University, as well as a M.M. and Bch.Sc. from Ball State University. His career in higher education has included both music faculty and arts administrative appointments. For questions about this music, how he combines his music with his paintings or other inquiries, please visit his website or contact the composer directly:jeffreyhooverart@gmail.comhttps://jeffreyhooverart.wixsite.com/mysite

Low Voice,Vocal Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1141424 Composed by Todd Marchand. Christian,Christmas,Religious,Sacred. 8 pages. Con Spirito Music #741750. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.1141424). William Blake (1757-1827), a seminal figure in the history of the poetry and visual art of the Romantic Age, published the lyric poem The Lamb in his collection, Songs of Innocence, in 1789.The Lamb is presented as from the viewpoint of, and in the voice of, a child. In the first stanza, the child asks the lamb if it knows its Creator; in the second, it tells the creature, by means of metaphor, that its Creator is the Lord Jesus Christ, who like the lamb took on the flesh of a created being, “little,†“meek,†and “mild.†The child declares that he/she shares with the creature the name of the One who is, in Christian belief, both the sacrificial Lamb and the Shepherd of his flock. Finally, the child pronounces a benediction: “Little lamb, God bless thee!â€This new setting of The Lamb for voice and keyboard accompaniment is intended to evoke the simplicity of the text, and therefore should be performed simply yet expressively, with subtle rubato (flexibility in tempo) to give emphasis to the text.Little lamb, who made thee? / Dost thou know who made thee,Gave thee life, and bid thee feed / By the stream and o'er the mead;Gave thee clothing of delight, / Softest clothing, woolly, bright;Gave thee such a tender voice, / Making all the vales rejoice?Little lamb, who made thee? / Dost thou know who made thee?Little lamb, I'll tell thee; / Little lamb, I'll tell thee:He is called by thy name, / For He calls Himself a Lamb.He is meek, and He is mild, / He became a little child.I a child, and thou a lamb, / We are called by His name.Little lamb, God bless thee! / Little lamb, God bless thee!Alto range G3-D5; Bass-Baritone range G2-D4©Copyright 2022 Todd Marchand / Con Spirito Music (ASCAP). Piano and Double Reeds - Digital Download SKU: IZ.CMW211 Composed by Daniel Baldwin. Score and Parts. 86 pages. Imagine Music - Digital #CMW211. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.CMW211). 9 x 12 inches. My wife and I love to travel together. We are always looking for places to go together, as well as excuses to include each other in our own individual travels. One of my personal favorite travel opportunities is the International Double Reed Society conference. It is an opportunity to catch up with friends, make new friends and contacts, and make beautiful music. A number of years ago, I started the All Star Double Reed Band that has now premiered over a dozen new pieces for large double reed ensemble, and has recorded an album of those works. As a combined labor of love, I wrote Impressions of Yellowstone for my wife, a concert pianist, to perform with this group. The first movement, “Little Grand Canyon opens with a chorale in the piano illustrating the simple majesty of the great and wondrous park that my wife and I visit annually with her parents. From there, the music exemplifies my impression of this wondrous landscape; beautiful, powerful. A deep valley with a waterfall on one end, it is one of the more beautiful sites to see in Yellowstone. The second movement, Grand Prismatic, is a musical impression of the different perspectives of this very famous Yellowstone landmark. From the overlook, you see a stunning pond with steam emanating from it and surrounded by color. However, if you are to go down and stand next to the hotspot, your perspective changes greatly. Sulfur smells, danger from the soft crust (with boiling sulfuric liquid just below the surface), and a hot, steamy fog of mist permeate the area.In the finale, Old Faithful, tone painting is brought out in full force as the opening piano solo material brings about the image of the geyser bubbling and building below the surface. Then, at the point of explosion, you hear the water falling and the delight of all of the dozens of onlookers who visit this most famous site at Yellowstone every day.The original version, for double reeds, is dedicated the All Star Double Reed Band and my wife, Tammy Miller, who recorded it on the Co-Op Press label. The version for piano and string orchestra is dedicated to Tammy and the National Composers Orchestra who recorded it on the Baldwin Records label.

Small Ensemble Trombone/Baritone B.C. - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.784336 Composed by Joshua Hauser. Instructional. Score and parts. 38 pages. Slide Ride #5288665. Published by Slide Ride (A0.784336). 1 Octave Scale Studies in 15+ keys for 4-part ensembles of like or mixed instruments If this is your first exposure to these scale studies, you are in for a treat! Donuts, if you make a mistake! The initial incarnation of these studies were written for trombone quartet and we would play them in the Tennessee Tech Trombone Choir with the challenge that whomever made the first mistake had to buy donuts for the rest of the ensemble. Since then I have brought that version to several clinics and warm up sessions. One time before I got to explain the title, a fellow trombone professor said, Oh, I get it! Don’t step in the holes!I only wish I had thought of that myself... Since we have one of the best donut shops in TN here in Cookeville, treating the studio to sugar coated goodies was always my intent. As with those initial exercises, you can vary these as much as you’d like.· Choose a tempo.· Choose a dynamic.· Choose an articulation/style.One way I like to play these is to have one person be the model, playing the entire scale over and over while everyone else plays the fragmented versions. That helps everyone to keep on track and stay in time. Double or triple up the parts for ensemble cohesion with a larger group.Practice one key, gradually speeding it up to improve fluidity, or choose a variation and take it through all keys, playing version A, B, C, or D then skipping to play the same set in a new key.If you want an additional challenge, play them in different octaves or change the key. Play the F Major set in f minor (all forms), different modes, etc. Players really have to be on their toes to remember if they are playing melodic minor in the ascending or descending form! For jazz players, try swinging them in dorian or mixolydian modes. The variations are endless! If you are using these with transposing instruments, 1) is F Major in Concert Pitch, 2) is Bb Major in Concert pitch, and so on. When you reach a scale that is enharmonic for another key (Db/C#, Gb/F#, or Cb/B), they are presented in both keys for each instrument so Trumpets can play in Eb while the Flutes are playing in C# with similar examples for all keys. All Donut Etudes with the same volume number are compatible so you can play them in mixed quartets or large ensembles with one or more instruments/people on part 1 and a different instrument on part 2, etc. Since the quartets are all identical, conductors/coaches can use any of the scores to tell which part should be playing at what time. Once you have played a scale with one set of parts, everyone can rotate to a different part and play the same scales again!Enjoy!

Chorister's Guild - Digital #CGA1088. Published by Chorister's Guild - Digital (C7.CGA1088). UPC: 749193011850.This festive anthem, incorporating children's, youth, and adult choirs, calls the church to fulfill it's mission to serve others and share God's love to a world in need. Each choir sings one of the anthem's verses alone as well as singing the opening and closing sections of the piece together. A creative weaving of the familiar hymn tune, St. Thomas, and the anthem's original melody takes place prior to the resounding conclusion when all choirs, congregation, and B-flat trumpet restate the opening proclamation, Arise, O church of God!.

Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Soprano Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549207 Composed by Gabrieli. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Renaissance,Standards. 44 pages. Jmsgu3 #3462167. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549207). Instrumentation: Double Sax Quartet (SSAATTBB) arranged antiphonally (SATB - SATB). Full Score: 28 pg. Study Score: 14 pg. Instrumental parts: 2 pg. ea. Duration: ca. 3:00 Innovations First of all, Gabrieli preferred sacred vocal and certainly instrumental music. Hence, he concentrated on music that consequently took advantage of resonance and likewise reverberation for maximum effect. Seems like Gabrieli may have invented dynamics – or was rather the first to indicate them such as in his Sonata Pian’ e Forte. Consequently, he was also a pioneer in spatial techniques. He therefore developed and used very specific notation to indicate instrumentation. Gabrieli experimented with assembling massive instrumental forces into isolated groups separated by space. In this way, he consequently contributed heavily to the Baroque Concertato style. Polychoral Works Gabrieli probably used the layout of the San Marco church for his experiments. This is because he worked there as a musician and composer. Furthermore, the church had two choir lofts facing each other. He certainly used these to create striking spatial effects between instrumental forces. Certainly, many of his works are composed such that a choir or instrumental group could first be heard on one side, then consequently followed by a response from the group on the other side. Sometimes there was probably a third group positioned near the main altar as well. Spatial Music Above all, Gabrieli studied carefully detailed groups of instruments and singers. Furthermore, it seems like he created precise directions for instrumentation in rather than two groups. The instruments, because they could be appropriately situated, could consequently be heard with perfect clearness at distant locations. As a result, arrangements that seem bizarre on paper, can in contrast sound perfectly in balance. First Works Finally, Gabrieli published his first motets along with his uncle Andrea's compositions in Concerti (1587). These compositions furthermore indicate considerable usage of dialogue and echo effects. Consequently, here we see low and high choirs with the variance between their ranges indicated by instrumental accompaniment. Seems like Gabrieli’s later motets Sacrae Symphoniae (1597) move away from close antiphony. In contrast, he moves towards not simply echoing the material, but developing it through sequential choral entrances. Even more, he takes this procedure to the extreme in the Motet Omnes Gentes. Unlike earlier works, here the instruments are certainly an essential part of the presentation. Also, only parts marked: Capella are supposed to be sung. Homophony Hence, after 1605, Gabrieli moves to a much more homophonic style. He writes sections purely for instruments – which calls Sinfonia – and smaller sections for vocal soloists, accompanied by a basso continuo.

Small Ensemble - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.522159 Composed by Various. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. Instructional,Renaissance,Standards. Score and parts. 25 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #3912497. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.522159). By the time Michael Praetorius published his extensive dance collection entitled Terpsichore (terp-SIH-cory) in 1612, he was one of the most famous musicians in Germany. These Two Ballets are well-known and elegant dances and sure to add some sparkle to any concert event. They would make excellent partners for other dances in this series. This piece is arranged for virtually any combination of conventional wind instruments and percussion, with optional keyboard part.In this series, Renaissance Hits for Wind Instruments, some of the most well-known dances from Terpsichore are included. They are all attractive pieces and are sure to be popular at any concerts or end-of-semester events. They are fairly easy to play too. The flexible arrangement makes them playable by all sorts of non-standard ensembles. The keyboard part enables you to use the piece as a solo or duet and trio for mixed instruments. This 4-part arrangement is presented in a single PDF file which includes the Full Score; Part 1 (C, B flat, E flat); Part 2 (C, B flat, E flat); Part 3 (C, F, B flat, E flat), Part 4 (C, B flat, E flat); Keyboard and Percussion. The optional keyboard part is intended as a guide and when possible the keyboard player should improvise around the part and chords shown. A piano sounds distinctly out of place in this music and a digital or acoustic harpsichord sounds more authentic. Most electronic keyboards have a harpsichord option. The percussion instruments used are similar to those found in elementary school music rooms and usually include a small bass drum or hand-held drum, clave or small headless tambourine. Two players are usually required and the parts can be interpreted quite freely. Dance music is intended to be fun, and we hope that this arrangement brings you just that. Â

Small Ensemble Bells,Boomwhackers,Glockenspiel,Handbell,Handchime,Orff Instrument,Ukulele,Voice,Xylophone - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.565155 By Sharon Wilson. By Traditional Spiritual. Arranged by Sharon Wilson. Children,Folk,Praise & Worship,Sacred,Spiritual. Score and parts. 9 pages. Sharon Wilson #3499691. Published by Sharon Wilson (A0.565155). This sheet music is notated for handbells on one staff and Boomwhackers® on a second staff creating an instrumental ensemble (requires one set of each instrument). Handbells play the melody while the Boomwhackers® keep a steady beat with three-note chords. Included in this set of scores is a combined score with both instrument parts on a grand staff plus a separate 1-staff score for each instrument. This set of scores uses colored noteheads corresponding to the Boomwhackers® color scheme. Handbells sold by Rhythm Band or KidsPlay also use this same color scheme (other brands may use different color schemes). Using color coded notes helps beginning musicians learn to read standard sheet music notation. This set of scores is also available (separate purchase) in black and white which will print clearer if you do not have access to a color printer.Notes used for each instrument are as follows: Bells – all 8 ~ C D E F G A B C* where C* is high C, one octave above middle C  Boomwhackers® – C D E F G A BThough this sheet music is notated for Handbells and Boomwhackers®, this arrangement is playable by any 8-note, C major diatonic scale (one octave) instrument such as a xylophone or glockenspiel (though the color coding may not match).Only filled noteheads (quarter and eighth notes) are used so the notes are full color and easier to see (this does not indicate the bells need to be silenced immediately before the next beat). Also, only quarter rests are used to help visualize the number of beats per measure. Lyrics and chord names are provided as well to aid in the learning and teaching of this song. The number of ringers and whackers needed will vary depending on the skill level of the participants. For more advanced players, each person could be assigned two or three notes. For beginners, it is best to assign one note to each person. Instrument assignment suggestions are provided on the last page for 6 to 15 players.Other suggestions and uses: * have both parts played by bells or both parts played using only Boomwhackers®* form a choir using multiple sets of bells and/or Boomwhackers® (this would amplify the sound and allow more people to participate)* use as part of the music education for children at school, home, or church* these colorful, inexpensive instruments can be enjoyed by all ages and add a fun, unique element to activities and programs: senior centers, family reunions, church retreats, home school groups, just to name a few Permission is granted to make up to 10 copies of each score. For more than 10 copies, please purchase additional sets. This arrangement is one of the 10 songs included in the collection Ten Traditional Spirituals for 8-Note Bells and Boomwhackers®.Boomwhackers® is a registered trademark of Rhythm Band Instruments, LLC. Piano Trio,String Ensemble Cello,Double Bass,Piano,Violin - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.522286 Composed by Various. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. Praise & Worship,Sacred. Score and parts. 50 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #6596257. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.522286). We’re really excited to present our collection of sixty of the best-loved hymns ever composed, presented in three books. Arranged for violin, cello and piano they are intended either as stand-alone pieces that could be used as interludes in a service, or they could be used to accompany solo, choral or congregational singing. To make the music accessible to less experienced string players, the range of the notes has been kept fairly low so that many of the arrangements can be played in first position, though more experienced players would probably want to avoid open strings. The cello part does not follow the bass but instead plays an independent tenor line using to the mid to upper range of the instrument. The top note in the cello part is the F sharp above the bass clef. The piano part has been kept as straightforward as possible with the left hand playing the bass part. To extend the possible uses of this collection, there’s also a melody part printed in the bass clef, an octave lower than the violin part. This could of course be used for cello solo or indeed for any other bass clef instrument. Included in the 50-page PDF file is an optional bass part which follows the piano left hand and could be used for string bass or bass guitar. With such a small ensemble, a conductor is hardly necessary and to save on costs the pianist reads from the score. For this reason, the piano part in the score has been slightly enlarged. Book 1 contains the following twenty popular hymns: Abide with Me (Eventide); All Glory, Laud and Honor (St. Theodulph); All Hail the Power of Jesus' Name (Coronation); All Through the Night (Ar Hyd y Nos); City of God, How Broad and Far (Richmond - Haweis); Fairest Lord Jesus (Crusader’s Hymn); Fight the Good Fight (Duke Street); Forth in Thy Name (Angel's Song, Song 34); Guide Me, O Thou Great Redeemer (Cwm Rhondda); He who Would Valiant Be (Monk’s Gate); Holy, Holy, Holy! (Nicea); I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say (Kingsfold); Jesu, Lover of my Soul (Aberystwyth); Nearer my God to Thee (Bethany); Now Thank We All Our God (Nun Danket); O Worship the King (Hanover); Rejoice, the Lord is King (Darwall’s 148th); Soldiers of Christ, Arise (Diademata); The Lord’s my Shepherd (Crimmond); What a Friend we Have in Jesus (Converse). The music has been set in string-friendly keys so they are not compatible with the brass or wind publications of the same name. The audio samples include Abide with Me; All Through the Night; I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say; Nearer my God to Thee and What a Friend we Have in Jesus.

Jupiter (Andante Maestoso from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from The Planets) (Trombone Quintet) - Intermediate - Digital Download. This marvelous arrangement of the Andante Maestoso section from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from Gustav Holst's The Planets, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts and recitals but if you are considering using this selection for church services in which a congregation may sing along, I would suggest that you look for the arrangements of either I Vow to Thee, My Country, O God, Beyond All Praising, O Spirit All Embracing or Thaxted, also by Regis Bookshar. They are all based on the same excerpt from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from The Planets. These arrangements are suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing these selections as well. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (9 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time. We have performed the Trumpet Quintet version of this composition quite often for numerous weddings and other special occasions. The Planets, written between 1914 and 1917 by the English composer Gustav Holst, premiered at the Queen's Hall in London, on September 29, 1918 for an invited audience of about 250 people. In the fourth movement, Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity, Holst portrays Jupiter's supposedly characteristic abundance of life and vitality. Nobility and generosity are allegedly characteristics of those born under Jupiter, and in the slower, middle section marked Andante Maestoso, perhaps the most well-known theme from The Planets (and the theme on which this arrangement is based), Holst provides a broad tune embodying these traits. In 1921, Holst adapted the theme to fit the patriotic poem I Vow to Thee, My Country by Cecil Spring Rice, and was written as a unison song with orchestra. It did not appear as the hymn tune until 1926, when Holst harmonized this melody, named Thaxted, named after the English village where he had lived for many years. Holst's friend Ralph Vaughan Williams included it in Songs of Praise. It has since been performed at numerous occasions, most notably for the wedding of Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales in 1981, and also at the funerals of Princess Diana in 1997, Margaret Thatcher in 2013 and Senator John McCain where it was performed at the Washington National Cathedral on September 1, 2018. In addition to being used as the melody for the solemn, patriotic hymn I Vow to Thee, My Country, other settings of this hymn tune also include O God, Beyond All Praising, by Michael Perry in 1982, O Spirit All Embracing by Delores Dufner in 1995 and We Praise You and Acknowledge You, O God, a paraphrase of the Te Deum Laudemus by Stephen P. Starke in 1999.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, in addition to the Trumpet Quintet version and this version for a Trombone Quintet, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection. There are Quintets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may find something else that may also suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are added as often as possible. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of Jupiter based on the Andante Maestoso section from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from Gusta.

What are Calisthenics? You’ve all come across them in one form or another….mainly probably in caricatures of Victorian or Edwardian men in boldly striped sportswear lifting heavy weights or Victorian ladies elegantly waving their arms around(see photo) We found the idea of daily exercises in combination with utterly lovely tunes so intriguing that we decided to call our latest publication Calisthenics The music combines training of speed, thumb technique, interpretation. Short: another great fun and educational publication. The word calisthenics is derived from the Greek, kalos, beautiful; and sthenos, strength; the object of calisthenic exercises being to secure physical beauty by developing the limbs and muscles of the human frame, and making the joints flexible, thereby giving strength and power, and ensuring a graceful carriage, erect bearing, and freedom to the figure. In the words of the old Victorians: The highest refinement of that beauty is unattainable without splendour of activity and delicate strength. Exercise is now recognised to be as great a necessity in woman's education as in man's we are learning that many bodily defects and much of her weak health is attributable to the want of it; more especially in youth, when the frame is growing. Such exercises must, however, be carried out under a system; irregularly conducted, they do more harm than good. The constitution must be coaxed, not strained; the strength not unduly taxed, no over-fatigue ensuing; for exhaustion makes people look worn and old. The exertion must not be too violent, and the health and physical development of each pupil must be specially studied. Early morning or evening are the best times to select, but on no account immediately after a meal. The clothing should not be too warm, nor interfere in any way with the action of the limbs. A musical accompaniment will best preserve the necessary rhythm - the time, four or eight beats to a bar; failing this, the pupils should be taught to sing or count in concert, thereby keeping up their interest and zest. A castanet will, failing better means, help to mark the time with or without music. One of our aims is to revive these compositions and bring them to the attention of players and audiences.

Published by MTC Publishing (A0.1514589). Together As One - Choral Composition for SSA choir and Piano by Michael Thomas CoullTogether As One is a song about singing in a choir and performing to an audience. It explores how singing gives us both sides of the emotional coin: from nervousness and even trepidation on one side, to great joy on the other. We all feel nervous before a performance, and even more so when we are actually standing in front of the audience. But then we are announced, the choir director raises their arms, the accompanist starts the introduction and we are all brought in and start singing. And at that moment we realize something, that when we all sing a great joy overtakes us, lifting us up to another world where our voices meld 'Together As One'. This original composition for SSA choir and piano accompaniment is an inspirational song that captures the mood and enjoyment of singing, and how singing effects us both individually and as a group. A song that your choir will love to sing with beautiful harmonies and a soaring descant part, and perfect to perform at any time of the year. Also available for SATB, SSAA and Unison in F Major, and 2-Part in Eb Major.

Cello,Piano,Steel Pan,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1095566 Composed by Aaron Gage. 20th Century,Chamber,Contemporary. 38 pages. Aaron Gage #699558. Published by Aaron Gage (A0.1095566). At the time this piece was conceived, the world had fallen into chaos. We were in the midst of a vast economic crisis leaving millions in poverty, racism had once again found its foothold in the foreground of US culture, climate change had decimated the west coast in flames while southern coastal cities were being bombarded with floods from storms. We have also been forced to see the ugliness of domestic terrorists establishing themselves in the hopes of hurting their fellow citizens. However, these issues pale in comparison to the utter devastation we have faced from COVID-19. As I write this note, we are just shy of nearly a quarter of a million people having senselessly died from COVID-19. The utter failure we’ve had in leadership and lack of empathy from our fellow citizens have caused countless families to now have empty seats at their table. There was no need for this. Hundreds of thousands of men, women, and children have died from means that could have been completely preventable. When I was asked to write this piece, I wanted to come up with a simple concept as an elegy to those lost to the virus. A simple question arose; What will we say? 50 years from now, how will we answer to those younger generations while we collectively sat by and did nothing to help each other? How are we going to excuse letting the rot that has sunk in go unpunished? How do we defend the indefensible? This question haunts me. The music you will hear channels my answer to that question. There is no true resolution. There is no happy ending. When we have finally moved on past this pandemic, we are still left in the wake of hundreds of thousands of dead citizens. One day it will hit us all how many lives we really lost. So I ask this; while you listen, reflect on every individual who suffered at the hands that did not act. Allow yourself to absorb the true gravity of what we have experienced. Give those victims a few minutes of your time. When the time comes for you to be asked, what will you say?

Small Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.869266 Composed by Thomas Oboe Lee. 20th Century,Contemporary,Jazz,Latin,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 73 pages. Thomas Oboe Lee #2019061. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.869266). Instrumentation: Alto sax solo and orchestra, 2222-4231-perc-drum set-strings Program note. Maestro Max Hobart called me in the spring of 2009 and told me to check out this young jazz phenom on the saxophone named Grace Kelly. I said OK, that’s cool. That summer we went to the Regatta Bar in Harvard Square to hear her play with her band, and I was duly impressed by her musicality, soulfulness and chops. Max asked if I would be interested in writing a concerto for her and the Wellesley Symphony. I said, Sure. It sounds like a great idea. One of the most cherished jazz records in my vast collection is the collaboration between Stan Getz and Eddie Sauter entitled Focus. Eddie, who used to be an arranger for the Benny Goodman Band in the forties, went on to create the Sauter Finegan Band in the early fifties. The band was one of the first to include the piccolo, oboe, bassoon, harp, celesta, French horn, tuba, xylophone, glockenspiel, chimes, timpani, and other unusual symphonic instruments in the standard big band format of trumpets, trombones, saxophones and rhythm section of piano, bass and drum set. On the album Focus Eddie Sauter composed seven tracks of music for string orchestra and rhythm section. Stan Getz did not have a written part - he just improvised over the written music. If you are not familiar with this recording, then you will do yourself a huge favor if you go find it and add it to your own CD collection. The music is phenomenal and Stan is on top of his game, soaring above the strings with endless melodic inventions, flights of imagination and whimsy! It is one of those desert island CDs one should not be without. When I emailed Grace about this project and mentioned Stan Getz’s Focus, she said, It’s one of my favorite albums. So, we got off on a positive note immediately. My work, Focus on Grace … Concerto for Jazz Saxophone and Orchestra, is very much inspired both by the Stan Getz album and by the performances I heard of Grace and her band. The first movement is based on a funk groove in D minor: Grace’s part is initially written-out but she improvises freely in the coda. The second movement is a boss nova: as in the Stan Getz album, Grace does not have a written part but improvises over a set of chord changes provided by the orchestra. The third and last movement is an Afro-Cuban groove in six-eight: Grace has a written melody at first but soon launches into improvisation on a 12-bar blues in F. She ends the concerto in a free cadenza to show off her virtuosity and saxophone chops. ENJOY!!!

String Ensemble,String Quintet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.813808 Composed by Gustav Holst. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. 20th Century,Contemporary,Sacred,Standards,Wedding. Score and parts. 9 pages. Regis Bookshar #6487195. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813808). O Spirit All-Embracing (Thaxted) (Bb) (String Quintet) - Intermediate - Digital Download. This marvelous arrangement of O Spirit All-Embracing, a hymn tune based on the Andante Maestoso section from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from Gustav Holst's The Planets, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for church services, especially Weddings and Funerals, but would be appropriate any time during the church year. However, if you are looking to perform this selection for concerts or recitals, I would suggest you look for the arrangement of Jupiter (Andante Maestoso from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from The Planets), also by Regis Bookshar. In addition to being used as the melody for the solemn, patriotic hymn I Vow to Thee, My Country, other settings of this hymn tune also include O God, Beyond All Praising, by Michael Perry in 1982, O Spirit All-Embracing by Delores Dufner in 1995 and We Praise You and Acknowledge You, O God, a paraphrase of the Te Deum Laudemus by Stephen P. Starke in 1999.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, in addition to the Trumpet Quintet version and this version for a String Quintet, consisting of 2 Violins (one of which has the lead), 1 Viola, 1 Violoncello and 1 Double Bass, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of O Spirit All-Embracing based on the Andante Maestoso section from.
