These bursts of anger haunted me for years and only after composing this piece was I freed of my anger. I still listen to this piece from time to time during bouts of rage to remind myself that the only way to win a fight is make concessions and come to an agreement with yourself. I hope these melodies will relieve your aggression and leave you humming this tune anytime you are frustrated. This beautifully fitful piece was performed and recorded by the cellist Raúl Andueza in June of 2020.

Time: 5:10 On Saturday afternoon, March 26, 2011, Robert Van Horne, pianist and composer was invited to a special meeting of Bay Area business people. Their purpose - wanting to help the victims of the recent earthquake and tsunami that devastated parts of Japan on March 11th. The meeting was organized by Mr. Alex Kurosawa, president of KPMF and held in San Jose, CA. At the end of the meeting and after much discussion about holding a series of concerts with all funds going to the disaster victims, it was suggested that Robert compose a new song for the project that would let those afflicted in Japan, know they would not be forgotten. I was so inspired by the dedication and volunteerism of all the people at the meeting, Robert says, that I went home and composed a new piece of music with the title: THERE IS HOPE THROUGH MUSIC. This version of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is arranged by David McKeown as a duet for two Cellos. The song, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, was written in 1949 by Johhny Marks. The Rudolph story was written by Marks’ brother-in-law, Robert L May, a decade earlier. The success of the song was guaranteed when it was recorded by Gene Autry, a huge star at the time. Initially Gene Autry didn’t like the song and was only persuaded to record it by his wife. She obviously knew best as Rudolph went on to become the second best-selling Christmas record of all time after White Christmas, with versions by everyone from the Jackson Five to Alvin and the Chipmunks. This duet version of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is based on the Gene Autry version, with a short introduction, and three choruses of the melody, with a key change and varied accompaniment throughout. Hava Nagila was originally a Nigun melody thought to have originated in the Ukraine. In 1918 a professor and musicologist at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Abraham Zevi Idelsohn, set the tune to words adapted from Psalm 118. Hava Nagila was first performed at celebrations at the end of the Great War and quickly spread throughout the Jewish diaspora. In the fifties and sixties, performances by singers as diverse as Harry Belafonte and Bob Dylan popularised the song far beyond its original Jewish audience. Hava Nagila remains one of the best-known and loved Klezmer standards today, traditionally performed at Jewish celebrations.Hava Nagila is simply arranged in a key and range best suited to the instruments.
