Heroic Music - A Suite of Twelve Marches (Complete) - Georg Philipp Telemann - Brass Quintet, Timpani - Intermediate - Digital Download.Heroic Music (or Heldenmusik) is a suite of twelve short marches and processionals, written by Georg Philipp Telemann in 1728, and is associated with various attributes of Heroism such as Dignity, Bravery and Alertness. All twelve movements have now been transcribed and arranged by Regis Bookshar to be played by Trumpet Quintets or Brass Quintets. Some of them have also been arranged for Sextets, Septets, Octets, Nonets and Brass Choirs. Some also include a Timpani. They can be purchased individually, or, if you prefer, as a complete set of all twelve at a huge saving.Any of these selections would be a wonderful addition to any music library, but this complete set of all twelve would be fabulous. They are perfectly suited to recitals and public performances, can stand alone as short interludes and are generally well received by audiences. They are suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing these arrangements. These selections are some of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time. In the past, these compositions have often been performed by a soloist playing on a Piccolo Trumpet, but these new arrangements are Bb Trumpet friendly as one player stated after playing through them, making them much easier for most high school students.This selection, Heroic Music - A Suite of Twelve Marches (Complete), is arranged for a Brass Quintet with some selections having a Timpani. There is also a version without the Timpani, if you would prefer. The twelve movements are as follows: No.Â Â 1. La Majeste (associated with Dignity); No.Â Â 2. L'Amour (associated with Love); No.Â Â 7. La Vigilance (associated with Alertness); No.Â Â 8. La Gaillardise (associated with Abandon); No.Â Â 9. La Douceur (associated with Gentleness); No. 10. Included are scores and a complete set of parts (156 pages).These selections are readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Seeing her struggling, someone asked if she wasn't tired. With surprise she replied: No, he's not heavy; he's my brother.He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother is a ballad written by Bobby Scott and Bob Russell. Originally recorded by Kelly Gordon in 1969, the song became a worldwide hit for the Hollies later that year and also a hit for Neil Diamond in 1970. It has been recorded by many artists in subsequent years. The Hollies' version was re-released in 1988 and again was a major hit in the UK.Scott and Russell were introduced to each other by Johnny Mercer, at a California nightclub. Although Russell was dying of lymphoma and the pair met only three times, they managed to collaborate on the song.Not sure how many brass quintet versions of this music is available, but here's my representation of it. Nick thinks that at the time he must have had in mind the magnificent brass fanfares of Montreal composer Jacques HÃ©tu, for the title is certain to put one in mind of his Petite Fanfare pour LanaudiÃ¨re. Published by https://gildedmusicpress.com/ (A0.1158388). My wifeâ€™s from-scratch cinnamon rolls are famous throughout our communityâ€”especially among our childrenâ€™s circle of friends. While enjoying a socially-distanced church service at home on Easter Sunday, there was a batch of those butterfly-inducing cinnamon rolls baking in the new oven. They filled the home with an exquisite aromatic delight. Then the magic motif chimed: â€œThe food is done!â€ I happened to have my composition notebook with me, and the little four-note tune inspired this composition. It just naturally took me in some happy musical directions, and within a minute or two, the melodic content, replete with fun-filled, muted second-trumpet echoes, was scrawled down. The next day, the music was entered into the computer. It is interesting that I gave the horn the clichÃ© off-beats that all hornists know and love so well. Funny, I usually pride myself on writing for horn as an equal musical instrument; however, this fun, happy melody just demanded an â€œum-pahâ€ accompaniment. Hopefully there is enough variety to keep the part fun to play. It helps that the piece is only two minutes and something long. The transition into the B section almost wrote itself, modulating to the relative minor. There I paused briefly, wondering how to treat a minor section in such an exuberant piece. Oh, but inspiration continued to flow, and I resumed writing in earnest with a mischievous smile! This section beautifully portrays a naughty, sneaky kid tiptoeing into the kitchen for another cinnamon rollâ€”forbidden until after dinner! The listener can hear the kidâ€™s nervous fluttering heart, and moments of pulling his hand back in startled impishness, and even shuddering as he looks fearfully over his shoulder. At the end of the B section, he gets caught! Witnessing that low-hanging head and puppy dog eyes, mommy finds that she canâ€™t scold the lad too severely. â€œAfter dinner, little oneâ€¦â€ she reprimands with an understanding grin. The jubilant melody returns to round out the workâ€™s ternary ABA form, though this time with a very sticky Ives-esque climax, reminiscent of a gooey cinnamon roll mess. Too enjoyable to be bothered by prospects of cleaning up, the music shrugs it off with flippant ragtime syncopations, and ends with the â€œhic-burpâ€ of a very satisfied tummy.

The five instruments take turns entering with the subject of the fugue, and interplay back and forth with the other instruments. The timbres of the different instruments add a whole new textural dimension to this already fascinating work by J.S. Bach. I considered the need to breathe for each of these brass instruments, which obviously wasnâ€™t an issue in the original version intended for organ. This piece would be appropriate for advanced high school students, college students,or professionals. It would do well in a chamber music concert, a church, or between acts of a larger ensemble concert,perhaps in another location of the auditorium while a (quiet!) set change is taking place. It would also work well as prelude or lobby music. The duration is just over three minutes (or longer if you prefer to take it slower). Each measure is numbered individually for convenience during rehearsals. I hope you will enjoy performing this piece as much as I have enjoyed arranging it!
